“I want a FireFox extension that auto logs me in to all my sites. Not just saves my password but goes to the site and uses my saved passwords to sign in.”
July 31 at 12:22 pm - Link
If there is a such addon, I hope your computer can take the memory load. I have noticed when FF is doing a lot, one's resources dwindle. - Brandon via twhirl
it would be even better is sites were set up to do that kind of login through an API or something... it would be much less memory intensive that way. - Stefan Hayden
What you're looking for is Kerberos-based single sign-on (http://twurl.nl/xvwadk and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...). It never really catches on because each service has to implement it. It's like trying to convince every site to use OpenID. - Mark Trapp
I'm not sure it would be such a complicated extension to build; in theory, it would function very much like Firefox 3's "Add a Keyword for This Search", but you'd be pushing a user and pass rather than a search term. Not any different in practice, though. - Evan Sims
Crackers would have a field day with this. Be careful what you wish for. I would not dare centralize all of my data. One mistake is all it takes... Lives are ruined this way. - James Mowery via twhirl
people already do centralize... it's all in their email.. if I get their email I have the keys to the kingdom - Stefan Hayden
That would be nice in an alternate world. Let me know when you find something like that! - Les
How would your data be any more "centralized" with this kind of extension than it already is in Firefox? Firefox already gives you the choice to store your username and password. This extension would simply remember the HTTP query that was used along with that data. - Evan Sims
besides... I'm almost 26... I can't remember anything anymore! - Stefan Hayden
Stefan: Exactly, so why would you want to add to that issue? It just promotes laziness with security. I tell you what, if someone made this application, I would be against it in a heartbeat. I know the reprecussions. It is especially bad because of the popularity of Firefox. It is already bad enough that so many users store their passwords on their Firefox browser without password protection, but... c'mon now. - James Mowery via twhirl
I see storing passwords in an encrypted form within Firefox better than not doing so in one very important way. I can set passwords for each site to be different and secure (using APGOnline) without being worried that I'll forget them all. I only remember one long passphrase. - Christopher Granade
password management is clearly a world wide issue. but lets take OpenID... which I love... once I login to MyOpenID every website should just be able to check FF and login automatically. I'm beyond being tired of waiting for single signon... I want single login. - Stefan Hayden

This needs to work in conjunction with MaxMind. Lets get some Lat/Long coordinates people! [52.6333/-1.1333] (http://www.maxmind.com/app/loc...) PS: These coords are very close, but not totally accurate - just for those with privacy concerns ;-) - CannonGod
@Jake - not very accurate at all, in my case. Maybe we should have sub-posts drilling down inside continents to country level, then city level. - Andy Murdoch

July 11 at 8:26 am - Link
when i tried to import from google reader tag/label shared item, friendfeed show alert "The given URL does not appear to be a Google Reader shared items URL". said greader shared page like look like this. http://www.google.com/reader/p.... as though friendfeed recognise only one ordinary greader shared item, but i would like add those URL right from here, not import as blog feed as compromise. - huixing
It looks silly to say I posted an item, as if it were my own blog post. - Elizabeth
+1 @huixing. I have several theme-specific google reader linkblogs and would like to import them. At the moment I have to import the feeds as "blogs". - Alexander Ebel

“Adapt Services like upcoming to take the RSS feed instead of the user.”
July 12 at 4:14 am - Link
i can add upcoming for a user, but not use the upcoming feed (and therefor the icon) in FF to feed a group on upcoming into a room here. Due to the limitations of upcoming I would want a special RSS feed used for my own as well, as upcoming does not separate in the feed between watching and attending. - Nicole Simon

Just import your Plurk RSS feed into Friendfeed, and volia! Plurk and Friendfeed are one! - Danny J. Palmer
But but... Then I wont get plurk icon to my posts! - k00pa
k00pa, it's just an icon! A small picture that won't mean a lick of difference in the greater scale of things (at least in this case). The link goes to Plurk...if your mates are smart enough, they'll know how to go the rest of the way. ;) - Danny J. Palmer
It acts all funny, though. Goes to plurk.com instead of plurk.com/user/my_user_name unfortunately. - Arron Washington
Although I suppose FriendFeed is aware of Plurk's popularity and is simply waiting for an API to do things 'properly.' - Arron Washington
Well you can't have it all...in time I reckon they'll support it, and as Arron said, they're probably waiting on an API to do a proper job of it. But in the mean time, it works for me. - Danny J. Palmer
I still want a pretty Plurk icon on my RSS feed, even if it doesn't actually make a difference in the usage. The blue-ugliness of FriendFeed may be the main factor preventing me to use it more. - DanielRS
