Right now, I'm so frustrated that the EBSCO export to RefWorks is down. RefWorks blames EBSCO. Zotero, on the other hand, doesn't have these kinds of problems.

They each have their strengths. We've kept our subscription to EndNote because we have networked the filters, styles, and connections folders, so we can create custom styles and have them instantly appear for the rest of the college. (So when the chair of the German department decides he want's the footnoted version of MLA from the 70s, I can do that.) Having massive libraries with PDFs...

I will say one of the selling points of refworks that students seem to like is that they don't have to install anything. They're used to web services.

they do have to install Write N Cite. which sucks for Macs, by the way.

That's true. But the up front work, starting to collect the research, can all be started pretty quickly without having to install anything. Write n cite is pretty clunky next to zotero's implementation, and I have not tried Endnote's equivalent.

Of the two, I prefer EndNote. For the type of work I do (dissertation writing in the humanities), it's much better. However, for most undergrads RefWorks is fine.

EndNote's Cite While You Write is pretty slick. I actually like it better than Zotero's. But you're right, the upfront work of installing stuff is less easy.

Productivity/GTD: "Weekly Review" sounds clinical and makes me anxious. From here on out, every week I'm going to be "Surveying My Empire"
