I see I am in good company. We can be productive tomorrow, right? Or the next day? *zones out*
- lris' ghost
i've heard people mention this thing called productivity before...but I've never experienced it myself before. I've heard it's an elusive phenomenon
- Sir Shuping
Someone drew the wrong lesson from The Inferno, I see.

Adds to the Book of Irisisms:"All I wanted was to curl up under a blanket with tea and a cat, and now I'm steeped in human excrement. This has gone poorly"
- marthalib
Technically since tomorrow is my day off, I could be slothful for the rest of today and tomorrow without guilt.... but I'm bad at that.
- Matt Lorfeld
I am somewhat of an expert, Matt. Next time we meet I could give you lessons. (both the guilt and the sloth, I mean) :-)
- lris' ghost
The Steve And Iris Show has a good chance to make it in primetime, methinks.
- Jenica
This afternoon I intended to do laundry, cook, pay bills, read, and paint. This afternoon I lay on the couch and daydreamed and watched FriendFeed scroll by and listened to a football game.
- lris' ghost
I love that Iris listened to a football game - didn't even watch it. :)
- ÉllbeeÇee
Well, it was on TV, but watching it would have taken more brain power than just listening. Also, I have no idea what happened except that Dallas lost and all its players are now injured.
- lris' ghost
Iris, I'm getting a little worried about your football consumption, regardless of the medium. Do I need to stage an intervention?
- laura x
That could be Tony Romo's post-game interview.

That's my girlfriend! Hell yeah, bitch. You are the fucking winner at life, you hear me? AT LIFE! Keep that shit up and many, many fantastic shoes will be only a portion of your reward. <3 <3 <3

It makes me very happy that when cancer darkens her door, Mary assrapes it and sends it home crying. It's a Machiavellian way to do battle. #nomercyforcancer

My (awesome) boss has implemented a new policy of "productive play" whereby we're encouraged to spend a couple hours a week tinkering or experimenting with a new technology (but doesn't have to be technology as such). We're to email her from time to time with reports and ideas on how we might try these things for instruction.
What kind of things are you already using? maybe that'll give us an idea of where to point
- Abigail
i am totally jealous of you for having an awesome boss. ;P
- Christa
Yeah, it's hard to know what's "new" to you. If it were me, I'd go into my del.icio.us account and look for my "trythis" tag. Also, +1 your boss.
- Catherine Pellegrino
Oh, that's true -- you guys don't know what we do now. Well, let's see, I've got a fledgling podcast up and going. We have video tutorials and don't do as much with them as I think we should, but I don't know where to take them next. We have a blog that as far as I know we don't use for instruction at all. That's a couple of quickies off the top of my head. Catherine, I like the trythis tag idea! I'll check yours out and start my own.
- Jàson Puçkett
Skype reference, text reference, clickers, mobile apps. And, you know, stuff. Wahoooo!
- marthalib
We've asked for money for clickers and got turned down! We were very disappointed. But we can check out a set from our faculty media lab. That's a good one.
- Jàson Puçkett
Catherine, what's your delicious handle please?
- Jàson Puçkett
Heh. I thought that might come up. It's http://delicious.com/capelleg, just to keep you on your toes. Also, I'd definitely look into clickers. I so want a set for our classroom!
- Catherine Pellegrino
This stuff is totally mine-able for months worth of ideas, you guys. Thanks so much!
- Jàson Puçkett
Wikis, online polls? I'd play with different video techniques a bit too - video tutorials seem like really useful things. Stop-motion, greenscreen...?
- Deborah Fitchett
I've never created or been a member of a group based delicious account. Would it be possible to feed a bunch of LSW members delicious feeds into an LSW delicious account? Does one already exist, and I just don't know it? Mine is http://delicious.com/jokrausdu .
- Joe
Joe - you can definitely do that with Diigo - they have a group option and every time you bookmark something you have the option to share it with any groups you belong to. We have such groups for our SUNYLA library instruction and emerging technologies in library instruction committees (http://groups.diigo.com/groups...) and they work pretty well.
- Dana Longley
If you were turned down funding to buy clickers, There are a couple of services that will let you do text message polling. I thought that those might have some application in the classroom, since so many students have cell phones anyway.
- Bonnie Swoger
Your boss IS awesome for this. Our teachers would love this. Of course, we have the small problem of having a good bit of Web2.0 blocked.
- Susan
Thanks, all. It was wonderful to get the book in the mail yesterday - I knew it was coming out, but forgot I was getting a copy (which makes it SO MUCH COOLER)
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Awesome! Me too! Had much less to loose, still love that 19_ reading though. Way to go!

Old school, Aden. Eat less, move more. No tricks, no diets. Started paying attention to how many calories are in things. Amongst the things I eat far fewer of as a result: bagels and tortillas. Stopped deluded myself into thinking that low-fat meant low-calorie. Stopped mindlessly grazing, especially at work. Started bringing a calorie-conscious lunch four times a week. Committed to 30 minutes on the elliptical every work morning and occasionally on a weekend day. Try to take a short walk after lunch too.
- Greg Schwartz
My sustainable strategy is to be very disciplined before and during work and then let go a bit on nights and weekends. Still more mindfully than before, but when it's time for fried chicken/ribs/ice cream/whatever, I eat ravenously and without regret.
- Greg Schwartz
OH MA GAWD. Along with galleys for corrections & my contract, editor actually had a copy of the book printed for me. It is beautimous. I lurv it. *runs around beaming*
Squee, squee and squee some more!! This is a fabulous thing :D

"Be mournful to create shades of meaning. To create is a joy, and godlike." That is fucking beautiful. That whole page was delightful. Colleen, I can see this selling VERY well in certain demographics, Make sure and push this to the goddess folks. When you start doing publicity I will help start edging this out into the esoteric forums, blogs, lists I frequent. I absolutely love that you wrote from Lilith's POV. She is another favorite of mine from Mesopotamian mythology.

Stephen, we call that look "the boob coma." He looks like that pretty much immediately after nursing.

I find that, more and more, I miss Simon until I get home and hold him for a while. I'd take him to work with me if I could. If we could afford it, I'd be a stay-at-home dad.
- David Rothman (☤)
David, of course you feel that way. He's a sweet, adorable kid!

Can I form a chapter for people who hate *most* people but like some immensely? Even enough to physically be with them sometimes?
