One of those messenger service guys. I signed his board and he said 'Thanks baby' That's not professional. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood. You might want to use the Beta FF features to filter me out today ;) - Michelle Miller
Yeah, I usually ignore those guys but they can be annoying sometimes. Most of the time they have their iPods blasting too loud in their ears to say anything at all. - Patricia(Trish not Patty)
Lindesy, the thing that might intrigue Michelle about the Fedex guy is that when she absolutely, positively needs it he is your guy; Brown makes no such guarantees. However, I think what really piques her interest is how Fedex is now Kinkos-y, and that kink allows him to do so much more for her than Brown can do. Collate, Print and copy. All sorts of things to put in her boxes, where as all Brown can do is deliver his packages. - RAPatton
I've always been a FedEx kinda girl . . . I can see why she's intrigued ;) - Lindsey Smith
@rap Sometimes I just want the package delivered ;) - Michelle Miller
But Michelle, I like my package delivered 'on-time' and undamaged ;) - Lindsey Smith
Exactly Michelle! Brown makes no such guarantees! He just wants to know what he can do for you, but never promises to do it. That balding, overweight, creepy fedex guy absolutely, positively get it done! - RAPatton
Me too Lindsey but other times I like surprise packages and if they are roughed up a bit...that's okay too as long as whats in them still works. - Michelle Miller
What about the DHL guy? When you absolutely, positively want the package delivered to the wrong person. - Mark Trapp
I want someone to call baby … *sigh* :-( (uh, for the record, that would *not* include male DHL or FedEx employees - offer void in Utah.) - dkb
I learned when I was younger that I could only handle 1 package delivery person at a time. ;) - Michelle Miller
But what if they collaborate on the delivery? Surely two of them can handle your box better than one alone? The key is to be open and honest about using both services, and respecting their option to satisfy other clients. - Roger Benningfield
On the messenger guy's iPod: "Baby baby, I'm taken with the notion, of slathering you in a quart of lotion..." - Roger Benningfield
I hate it when waitress's call me 'hun' then I know I am back home in North America - Roger Kondrat
@roger One always get jealous and wants the box to himself and that causes problems. Years ago, I wouldn't have minded several carriers. Today, I may want to start shipping my own boxes out and I want a service I can rely on to get the job done. Someday my boxes will be old and will need extra special care - Michelle Miller
Facebook is still the most useful new web project for me. I keep up with all of my old friends and current friends there. It's only boring to people who like to be on the cutting edge of the web. - Andrew Burd
Holy Cow!! Congrats on reaching 100,000,000 Facebook users - that's simply awesome!! yeah!! very impressive milestone!! :) - Susan Beebe
From CBS4 Denver: "CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.
CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle … sighted at 750 yards."
Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."" - Mark Trapp via Bookmarklet
I hope to for the sake of all that is holy that this is the result of Patriot Act, FISA, warrant-less sneak-n-peek, waterboarding and tasering and NOT some random traffic stop for a broken taillight because the rookie officer was being extra gungho that day! - Adam Turetzky
Dear everybody: This is why you need to STOP making comparisons between BHO and RFK/JFK. I'm serious. :( - Cecily Walker
Adam: the investigation started when they stopped the first suspect for driving erratically, and found several high-powered rifles in his truck. - Mark Trapp
Sad. I blame Rush Limbaugh! (Just cause I like blaming shit on him) - Geoff Schultz
Mark: great, so you mean we've given up just about every civil right our country was founded for in the name of protecting us from this exact type of thing and as it turns out the existing laws and police work were all we needed? - Adam Turetzky

Likely not the last of these kind of stories we'll hear, I imagine, but I would bet on the Secret Service against douchebags like this any day. I read some fluffy piece on "the Obamas at home" the other day and noted that a Secret Service guy was sitting in the living room and whispered into a mike, "porch" when the youngest daughter walked out to the front porch. It made me feel better, actually. They're watching them like hawks. - Carla Thompson
Not a life i'd want to live...being watched all the time, even if it's for my own good - Gordon Swaby
Here's the interesting bit for me... Plus and Premium are still 10 cents apart. So the price for Regular has increased 352%, but Plus only 300% and Premium by 274%. Over time, assuming the 10 cent gap is a hard and fast guide to gas stations, it may be more economical even for drivers with boring cars that don't need it to get the highest quality fuel? (In other words, why not have a 30 cent gap between each level?) - Louis Gray
we're still paying $7 more than that in the UK so count yourselves lucky - Phill Price
The real question... is premium subsidizing regular, vice versa, or do they all really cost the same to manufacture? - Logical Extremes
Louis: Because you want to encourage people to pay extra for the higher grade fuel? The smaller the gap, the greater the chance of upgrading. - Andrew Burd
don't give them any ideas, (but maybe its because the price of crude is up, not the refined product) - ishak via twhirl

I just deleted a comment and blocked a person due to being lame with personal attacks esp. that have nothing to do with this article. Its the third person Ive blocked on ff. I also have blocked two people from Twitter. I'm not sure if its the right thing to do, but found myself to be happier not having to be constantly bombarded by them because I dont think they are nice or valid and actually forget about them for long periods of time. - Andrew Baron
Mattb4rd, sure would be nice if my funds were seeing the kinds if gains big oil are. Besides, there are probably many investors that don't invest in funds that invest in fossil fuel related industries on moral grounds. Similar to not invest in the tobacco industry. Personally, when I invest in energy, I prefer to invest my money in renewable. So I don't own any big oil. - stammers a lot
@Andrew I hope I'm not one that you blocked. My link to the Obama / X!a photos is editorial commentary. One thing has nothing to do with the other. It's the same as your photos in my opinion. - Mattb4rd
@nicerobot Find a new mutual fund or 401K. Mine have averaged better than double digits for decades. Big oil nets around 9%. - Mattb4rd
Andrew, about the blocking. It's your purgative. My personal opinion is to never delete a comment but blocking persons whose content you have decided you never want to see is completely reasonable. - stammers a lot
Andrew: life is too short to deal with jerks :) - Mona N.
Though Bush certainly hasn't helped oil prices, I think the characterization here is unfair. You're talking a 16 year difference in inflation. - Aaron Brazell
we need to pay a lot more for gas, just to cover the social costs, pollution, etc. and to create incentive to move on to the next step.. american auto industry wants to have congress give them 50 billion.. the same mind wants low fuel prices ... http://money.cnn.com/2008/08/2... - gregory lent
Are you saying 16 years of inflation should lead to a 4x multiplier? - Jason Carreira
I'm talking about these kinds of percentages: "Exxon Rides Oil and Gas Prices to 36% Gain in Profit" http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07... "reported a 33 percent gain in second-quarter profit" "Profit from oil and gas sales climbed 68 percent to $10 billion" http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.d... Yet the stock prices are not reflecting these same percentages. - stammers a lot
@nicerobot that's because their profit margin is the same. Their costs have gone up that much as well. - Jason Carreira
Funny how most of that increase has happened since the Democrats proclaimed themselves "READY TO LEAD!" in January of 2008... - Vincent Ferrari
@nicerobot The root of the "evil big oil" argument is that only a few elites benefit from gains. My take is that you and I are the beneficiaries of such a "windfall" and that's not a bad thing. "You and I" includes the bafrillion people that are employed by "big oil", their families, and their family's families. More even than you and I, the US Government, the biggest drug dealer on the planet via taxation, is by far the largest beneficiary. The US Government, by the way, is not W and his cronies. - Mattb4rd
@Matt, yes, I feel so enriched when I fill my car... - Jason Carreira
A large part of those "costs' are bonuses and salaries of their executives as well as spending to the refineries that they own. You're fooling yourself if you think owning stock in big oil is offsetting gas price increases. - stammers a lot
@Jason: Maybe you shouldn't inhale so deeply while pumping gas :) - Mattb4rd
Have the salaries of _all_ the employees of big oil gone up relative to the price of gas so that the employees are not impacted at all by gas prices? If not, then you're argument fails because it means the employees have essentially taken a pay cut because their own company is costing them more to work for them. - stammers a lot
Additionally, by your argument, if I employ lots of people, it doesn't matter how I obtain the money I use to pay them? Anyway, I'm not opposed to companies making a profit as long as they pass it on to shareholders and employees. The reason big oil sucks is because they are _actively_ fighting against moving to renewable energy. That's what's frackin evil!! - stammers a lot
@nicerobot. Your honesty is refreshing. The logical fruition of your thought process, as it is outlined here, is that capitalism is evil. I'm about to post some photos of 2 "cappulatte's" I just made. That's more fun to talk about. :) - Mattb4rd
Capitalism is evil in some regards but I'm not an absolutist so it isn't either-or. Watch a documentary called "The Corporation". I agree with much of what is presented in that documentary. At the same time, capitalism is a wonderful system in many respects. It just isn't suitable for anything requiring compassionate, humane endeavors. If more people were to clearly undersatnd when capitalism works and when it doesn't we could probably solve a huge rift that exists between republicans and democrats. - stammers a lot
"The swimming pool was their first real request, Mr. Trainor said, and since they were into competitive swimming and he “knew it wouldn’t have to be a suburban-style pool for people to lounge around all day,” he embraced it as a challenge.
The resulting design, built in 2005, set a minimalist, carved-concrete, solar-heated pool almost seamlessly into the meadow, where it is surrounded by seasonal wildflowers and native grasses (planted mainly with seeds collected from the site before construction began) and reflects the surrounding hills like a ground-level mirror.
Three years later, the plantings have begun to mature, restoring the property to something close to its original state and providing its weekender owners with low-maintenance natural beauty." - RAPatton via Bookmarklet

very kool hotel - design-wise - but try booking a room there, its virtually impossible and not because its sold out. their online booking system is a failure, and third party agents always show no availability. finally they actually close for the summer. ive never heard of such a thing. all i wanted to know was how much these funky rooms were going for. - Carlos Ayala
A California-based company is developing a prototype of a new generation of zeppelin. Perfect example of poor sportsmanship from an Olympian competitor. I hope kids will not follow his example. - imabonehead
Just read the article - they're banning the coach as well. Great. No official response from Cuba in the article, but the coach was totally unapologetic and said that Matos' opponent must have bribed the referee... - Tad - just Tad
Should get multiple lifetime bans just like court. - Dave Ploch
He deserves what he gets. Deliberate, un-sportsmanlike, potentially deadly, generally and ass-hat type of thing. Boo. :( - Mathew A. Koeneker
LOL @Tad Donaghe, I going to go out on a short limb and assume, if this guy was a lighter shade, your comments would have come off a lot less KKK-sounding. But wow..."animal" and no one called you out on how incredibly racist that sounds? Okay... - faboo mama
Faboo: I only know Tad from his online rep but that was not a racist comment. That individual allowed his more primitive or "animalistic" behavior patterns to over-whelm the training that I know that he has had. I only made it to brown belt but it was instilled in us from the beginning to have respect for the referee and your opponent ie. the 2 bows prior to all matches. - Mathew A. Koeneker
Lifetime banning is the least Matos deserves. Hopefully Cuba has something else in mind. To faboo mama, the word made me squirm, but I don't recall TD doing anything else to make me wonder. On another note, if my roundhouse looked like that, I'm pretty sure Master K. would have told me to twist my torso more. - MiniMage
Woah - Faboo - I never even considered the color of his skin. What does that have to do with his behavior? Does it really smack of racism to call a black man an animal based on behavior like this? - Tad - just Tad
@faboo welcome to FriendFeed, a wonderful place where we call stupid stupid no matter who brings it to the table. enjoy your stay. - idnan
@FaRzAd II (aghafarzad): Sadly, this IS how some athletes behave. It's unacceptable for all, but an Olmpyian who dares should be given sufficient cause to regret it. - MiniMage via NoiseRiver
