one cool thing about having entire article collections on remote and local mirrors is that custom analysis and search methods can be more readily applied

Thank you for the way cool T-Shirt @rackcloud! It’s nice enough to actually wear & just another example of how RAX does things right! - Michael's - http://michaelfidler.posterous.com/thank-y...
I know it's just a T-Shirt, but the fact that it's a cool design shows me that they put a lot of thought into everything they do, including the small things! By the way, I didn't buy it; I simply asked for one and they were nice enough to send it to me. It's another one of those small things which will eventually come back to them. They have an awesome business philosophy, but don't take my word for it, check out their site and you can see for yourself! http://www.rackspace.com

"Many Ubuntu and Debian images for Amazon EC2 include a hook where scripts passed as user-data will be run as root on the first boot. At Campus Explorer, we’ve been experimenting with an approach where the actual user-data is a very short script which downloads and runs other scripts. This idea is not new, but I have simplified the process by creating a small tool named runurl which adds a lot of flexibility and convenience when configuring new servers."

"A Eucalyptus system includes three high level packages: 1. eucalyptus-cloud - includes the front-end services (Cloud Controller) as well as the Walrus storage system. 2. eucalyptus-cc - includes the Cluster Controller that provides support for the virtual network overlay 3. eucalyptus-nc - includes the Node Controller that interacts with KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) to manage individual VMs In a basic Eucalyptus setup, the system is composed of two machines (a front-end and a node). The front end runs both eucalyptus-cloud and eucalyptus-cc in this configuration, even though they communicate via network messages, making it possible to separate them in a more complex multi-host setting. The following diagram depicts a simple setup."

From the announcement here: http://blogs.msdn.com/windows... Windows Azure, SQL Azure and .NET Services will be commercially available at the Professional Developer Conference 2009 and we hope you will continue building on the Community Technology Preview (CTP) at no cost today. Upon commercial availability we will offer Windows Azure through a consumption-based pricing model, allowing partners and customers to pay only for the services that they consume.
