I don't like Foo Fighters or Hole or Pearl Jam or any of that stuff. I'm rather glad that I wasn't living here during the grunge thing.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Actually, I really like Nirvana's unplugged cover of Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World.
- Akiva Moskovitz
It doesn't happen as much now but it used to be that when people online learned that I live in Seattle, I'd always get comments like, "Oh, do you know the members of [Seattle grunge band]?" Right, and everyone who works at Microsoft knows each other, too.
- Rochelle
You mean you don't know Dave Grohl personally? WTF am I still doing talking to you then? SHEESH. *storms off the internet*
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Nirvana was one of the worst live acts I ever saw. Boring. I do like Pearl Jam, and I did meet Kim Thayil once at a Mariners game... does that count?
- Bren, Photophobe
Yesterday I met someone (at work) who doesn't know *anyone* who works at Microsoft and I admit, I was a little taken aback.
- joey
Being in my mid-twenties and living in Seattle in 91 meant being around all of those people, all of the time. It wasn't difficult to know them. If you drank and smoked pot, proximity was a given. The OK Hotel, The Comet, The Offramp, The Crocodile, The Mecca Cafe. Where else were the musicians gonna go? It's not like Mark Arm was trying to hide from anyone.
- Christopher Harley
Christopher, in 1991, I was 10 years old. :)
- Rochelle
Then you should've known their nieces and nephews, Rochelle! Grunge is all about networking!
- Christopher Harley
I'm with you, Akiva. I liked Nirvana for about a month, then got over it. For me, I was the same way with Pearl Jam. It's not to say I don't like music that came out of that "scene," I'm just not particularly fond of either of those bands. Old Soundgarden was great. Meat Puppets are fantastic. Temple of the Dog is near the top of my favorite albums list.
- Curtiss Grymala
I miss RCKNDY. Sigh. And the Velvet Elvis. I do not miss the Teen Dance Ordinance.
- joey
I was never a fan either. Pearl Jam is also on the list - if you've heard 30 seconds of their music, there's no reason to ever listen to any more 'cause its all the same.
- jcunwired
I saw The Fall at the Backstage in Ballard. Mark E. Smith in BALLARD!
- Christopher Harley
I liked RCKNDY! But my second home was Satyricon in Portland. That's where I first saw Nirvana (pre-Bleach, as I recall) and I think it was there that I saw Mother Love Bone before Andrew died and they re-formed as Pearl Jam. And I saw Soundgarden when they were pretty brand new at Pine St. Theatre in Portland.
- vicster
The only difference between Cobain and Vicious is that Sid had the forethought to save the rest of us from his wife.
- Jeremy
Nice, Vicster! Now Satyricon is such in name only. New owners for the last 6 years or so. Way different vibe. The Pine St. Theater became La Luna but is now offices and condos I think. It's definitely not a live music venue but back in 94-99 it had the best shows in Portland.
- Christopher Harley
@Christopher. Sixth Avenue changed so radically after they extended the bus mall and lit it all up LOL! I was at the Dharma Bums show the night of the "Satyricon Riot". That was the beginning of the end of Satyricon (even though he didn't sell for a few more years)...George had just had enough. :-( The other venue I miss is Blue Gallery. LOVED that place!
- vicster
MOTHER LOVE BONE! IN YOUR FACE AKIVA!
- Carlos Ayala
"On the morning of 12 October 1978, Vicious claimed to have awoken from a drugged stupor to find Nancy Spungen dead on the bathroom floor of their room in the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, New York. She had suffered a single stab wound to her abdomen and apparently bled to death. The knife used had been bought by Sid on 42nd Street and was identical to a collector's knife given to punk...
- Jeremy
I was really partial to Nirvana. I was just the right age for Bleach and Nevermind to hit me hard...growing up in Seattle didn't hurt either. I actually went to Cobain's vigil at the Seattle Center and shed a tear of true sadness. Later Nirvana and any other grunge leaves me cold though. I couldn't care less about StoneMotherTempleChainGardenJam. I went straight from Nirvana into Electronic Music. Heh.
- veo
This game is outrageously fun. The number of guns you can get is simply astounding. Graphics are very well done. Definitely one of the best games of the year.
- Alex Scoble
from Likaholix
loving the crap outta this right now, man.
- Carlos Ayala
Better than Halo2? (looks decent, I think I'll get it)
- Maxamad
Are you kidding? Halo 2 couldn't even begin to be as good as Borderlands.
- Alex Scoble
from IM
Better than Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?
- LogEx
for me? yes, much better than Halo2.
- Carlos Ayala
MW2 might be the game of the year. After some of the recent footage ive seen.
- Carlos Ayala
Activision can go suck eggs for not showing up at PAX 2009...so YES, Borderlands is better than any Activision game can ever hope to be, until they decide to actually show up at PAX.
- Alex Scoble
from IM
sorry, but both modern warfare 2 and borderlands bring about one giant "meh" from me. Now Brink, that looks interesting, the head of Splash Damage did a great job of showing it off to us at the very least ;)
- alphaxion
I was just joking since it just came out today. (not much of a FPS gamer -->)
- LogEx
Your comment gets a big giant meh from me. :)
- Alex Scoble
from IM
also enjoying Borderlands. it's diablo FPS style.
- timepilot
I am a huge fan of Bethesda and look forward to Brink, but...its not out yet. So until then, Borderlands and MW2 can dominate. Uncharted2 looks pretty amazing too, but i havent played it yet, but considering buying that too.
- Carlos Ayala
@timepilot: that's good, diablo 3 is the shit
- Maxamad
I've never been a fan of the cod series - bland, grey/brown yawn fests each and every one of them. Until brink and Diablo3 come along, my fun will stick with TF2, KoL, OpenTTD and a plethora of indie titles that are bringing joy back to my game playing. Eufloria, for example, is a beautiful RTS. I also enjoyed playing around with Joe Danger, tho it's something I could get tired of all too quickly. However, feb means I'll get to buy a copy of the game my GF is working on...
- alphaxion
What little amount of time I've had to play it so far, I've really enjoyed it. Glad you pointed it out, Alex, I hadn't even heard about it until you started talking it up.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
When do you play, Jandy? On 360, I hope?
- Alex Scoble
Yes, 360. There's something else? :p And evenings, usually. After 8pm Pacific time. Or weekends, but I keep not being home on weekends. Or evenings, lately. :/ I'm still back in the first few missions; took out the first boss the other night, but haven't had time to do much more.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Do I have you in my friends list on Live?
- Alex Scoble
I think so...I'm Susurrant Echo. You're ITBlogger, right? I know you're in mine, and I think it's got to be reciprocal.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Cool...I just didn't know who you were on there to watch for you and now I do. :) What other multiplayer games do you have?
- Alex Scoble
Mine arrived today, will fire it up soon - maybe at work, maybe on my laptop but really need to sort out a new gfx card. I've got a few games now but cannot play them properly. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
Which is why you shoulda gotten it for the 360!

They aren't the best anything with that rating. Sorry.

from IM
Kol, looking for the Borderlands review, but I can't find it. Is it up on their website?
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
On my second character after spending an entire weekend playing through non-stop. It's mad fun with 4 players on PC, damn difficult too. My only complaints are the lack of specific melee weapons, and clothing/armor etc would have been nice. Game runs flawlessly for a port.
- Mo Kargas
er... "alternative" is a little vague. Surely she doesn't actually mean Facebook and Twitter. Those are sad excuses for alternatives, IMO.
- Jason Huebel
Maybe not great alternatives, but that's where the action people are. They're not on FriendFeed.
- Kittyburgers
For the record, I'm using GReader with a Feedly front end for content and sharing with Mark and Twitter and Facebook for social interactions.
- Lindsey is Fierce!
I'm way behind... I still use my mouth, ears, eyes, and toes for social interactions.
- Mitch
You'll see Twitter + Facebook + FriendFeed as well and keep an eye on Posterous too ;-)))
- Desirade
Sean, if only I knew. This was delivered directly to me fresh and hot.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Wow, whatever you do, don't google "Asian guys at beach licking" if you want to find the Flickr account for this. No, seriously. Just...don't. o.O
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
changed my life forever...I will always go to the beach with a a few chubby buddies after porking myself up for those bosoms ~ and this image is most definitely going in the ol' spank bank

you know what would be funny: ok bear with me, if we blindfolded leather donut (you know the booby man) and...yeah fill in the blanks...something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- sofarsoShawn
Sir, randomly linking to your FriendFeed from one of my posts is oh wait you'll never see this because you're blocked for spamming. Thanks anyway, kaghazrangy.
- Akiva Moskovitz
damn this picture just won't go away - you have forced me to hide it
- William Harryman
Akiva, wasn't that pic taken at your last BBQ?
- Paul
Every time I see this picture I smile. Their joy is infectious, like herpes.
- Sparky Crocker
Paul, I surely do wish I had a beach in my back yard!
- Akiva Moskovitz
Sparky, I'm going to have this blown up to poster-size and attaching it to the ceiling above our bed. That'll cause some infections!
- Akiva Moskovitz
makes me want to grow a rack and diddle with my own, know what I'm saying?
- sofarsoShawn
this. . . .this. . . ugh . . . so fucking wrong.
- Peter Ghosh
Akiva - you can put anything you want above our bed.
- Sparky Crocker
i've been trying to formulate a comment for this for days, but i just...can't.
- joey
I still want to know the motivation here. is this a gay marriage argument? or are we already pushing group social contracts on friendfeed?
- Noah David Simon
oh man this one keeps popping up on ma friendfeed,....must spread virus nao
- Chris Hofmann
I'm surprised no one's noticed old boy's red-framed glasses.
- Akiva Moskovitz
oh right... the glasses are so important when three asian men are licking his nipples and all the comments are by people who think gay marriage has something to do with equality... when it has everything to do with taking protections away from children. the red glass glasses.... um yeah. chicken and Oklahoma with milk
- Noah David Simon
Mark, you have uncovered the dark underbelly of humanity except in this case it isn't dark but is rather a pasty hue somewhere in the vicinity of undercooked flan.
- Akiva Moskovitz
This should be in the default noobie FF stream. Like the first thing anyone who signs up sees. If they stick around they're part of the family.

Perhaps this can replace the kitty pic on the start page for non-members!

I can't believe after all this time some diligent FF'er hasn't dug up the identities (I said "titties") of this bunch and invited them to join the service that made them famous. Mitchell Tsai, get to work!
- Sprague D
i think if you unlike and delete all your comments anna it'll go away, but hide in general would be nice too (this photo makes me smile every time it pops up so don't mind it)...
- mike "glemak" dunn
*sigh* This is never going away, is it? It's gonna end up like James Bond movies and Swedish meatballs - always existing in the same form. never diminshing, never forgotten. :( :( :(
- Steven Perez

It will go away, to be replaced with photoshops of the original. It's all part of the meme lifecycle.

You can't close this thread. A lot of people say that this place is a Scoble-fest but, truly, it is this thread that is at the very heart of FriendFeed.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I'm officially going to proclaim that this is the FF equivalent of Goatse or FFoatse if you will. Lets all refer to it as that from this point forward.
- Mark Krynsky
Sparky has left 57 comments. The rest of you are slacking. Hop to it!

Chrisitan just walked by and said "It's too early in the morning for Japanese titty licking." It's NEVER too early for Japanese titty licking.

As much as I am loathe to bump this post, I have to do it to say, You, sir, are a master. Well played, sir. Well played. This is why I take every opportunity to say, in my next life, I want to be Akiva. I've already called it! Don't anybody go getting any more ideas.
- ♥patricia♥
I, for one, refuse to "bump" posts...it's very unseemly...
- Live4Emma (L4S)
I wish FF-search allowed to do GROUP BY -aggregations so I could COUNT(*) who are the biggest *bump*ers. :)

Makes me laugh everytime I see it. Such a happy yet silly scene by the sea.
- Toby Graham
There is nothing silly about it. This is serious business.

The more I see this, the more I like it. Not for the ironic nipple-licking, but because these kids are genuinely enjoying themselves. :) Carry on.
- felicious
This photo looks so much better in iPhone 3.0!#!~

Seriously dude. What do I have to do to get rid of this disgusting picture!? Doh! Now I've just pushed it back to the top... yuck, I'm so sickened.

It's just so refreshing to see genuine juvenile humour at work. These kids are no different from any other, I think it's a great happy image, given all the other shite happening in this world on a daily basis. For those that are too pompous and prudish, 'up yours with brass knobs'

Wow. 666. Nice! Actually, the reason Asashoryu is getting a divorce ( http://ff.im/4T0UA ), is because he wants to spend time with this lot.

You know, every time this pops up, since FF hides the middle of the comments of which there are 804 or so, I see Akiva say "I'm sorry." at the top. It makes me wonder about how some things are just not possible to apologize for!

the thing that strikes me about this (aside from the obvious) is after seeing this thing pop up like 35-40 times since March its just occurred to me that I don't have any (guy) friends that a) would lick my nipples b) would lick my nipples for a photograph. Maybe I should get out more...
- J. Abdul-Qahhar
I'm a little scared that I've this has gotten more than 800 comments and almost 200 likes over nearly five months and I still haven't clicked "Hide."

It's just a bit of fun. I mean watching how many comment, not the picture content (although I suspect that is all that was too!)
- Ian May
Allright, you guys ready to shoot "mirth and girth"?
- Rick Cogley
For the life of me, I'll never understand the emotion people have around this picture for or against. There's no nudity at all, not even implied nudity. Less dude nudity than a beer commercial or cigarette ad, yet there are people who really really really hate this picture.
- Matthew DeVries
I found a way to get a Tit Theme, and it involves this picture.

- Mark Jepsen
Hmmm, where do you think they're from? My guess is Japan...
- sofarsoShawn
The bumping algorithm includes things like novel people posting to it, in addition to thread age, and rapidity of comments. If the same 3 people are talking in a thread, it quits bumping because it's obviously a closed tea party.
- Matthew DeVries
I forgot, also you're a very handsome guy(saw the wedding images), I don't understand why you don't like to share your face. Rochelle is a lucky lady.

Jimminy, it's an irrational phobia. No different than people who are afraid of heights, spiders, clowns, or Canada.

Akiva, now I'm LMAO at the fear of Canada. People are actually afraid of Canada, or just the fact they don't know if they're British or French?

I don't think even Canadians know that difference.

On Fark, there was this one thread, that just kept growing and growing. On Fark, it was a single page per thread. And you could post images and gif inline. Well the thread wouldn't die, people just kept posting. I forget which one it was. Anyway, it got so monsterous, that few people going to read/post to it per day (which was only a handfull) accounted for 1/3 of the server load of the site. They eventually had to cull that thread.
- Matthew DeVries
I think everyone who has participated in this thread has 'culled' themselves privately.

Ultra-Realistic Modern Warfare Game Features Awaiting Orders, Repairing Trucks | The Onion - America's Finest News Source - http://www.theonion.com/content...
Just heard a report on NPR (yes, I listened to NPR for once) about Sesame Street. Interesting tidbit; they said they learned that children liked a narrative versus the lesson broken up into snippets. I think Elmo killed the fun that was Sesame Street and 15 min. of that baby-talking rag is too much. My kids feel the same.
If I put today's Sesame Street on, they'll whine and call it a baby show. If I put on episodes of the Sesame Street I grew up with, they'll become engaged in the show shouting back answers to the TV. Also noted by my daughter is that the old Sesame Street taught a lot more Spanish (very true) and everything looked "more real".
- Anika
The early episodes were more for adults. In fact the DVD release has a warning: "These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grownups and may not suit the needs of today's preschool child," the warning reads. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories...
- Andrew Leyden
Well my kids like them. They get a kick out of the 70s graphics, the Chef, the typewriter (which I learned they thought was a phone, go figure) and my son LOVES the news flash with Kermit D. Frog.
- Anika
I don't miss those time-lapse videos of flowers sloooooooowly opening, though. Remember those? That was always my cue to take a bathroom break.
- Sarah is Novembery
LOL I don't remember those, Sarah. Maybe that was my bathroom break cue too.
- Anika
I loved me some Sesame Street when I was a kid (and yes, that's where I first learned Spanish). Those early 80s episodes more than met my preschool needs...
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I remember being in kindergarten and every day we watched Sesame Street and then Electric Company. Then we'd have a snack of nilla wafers and orange Koolaid. Then we'd take a nap. Definitely a firm part of my childhood memories.

LOL @ 'baby talking rag.' I am still laughing.

Hey! Elmo loves his goldfish, his crayons too. >:(

@Val - I don't remember Zoom :S. My favorite Sesame Street thing was the aliens who rang like the phone. "Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Nope, Nope, Nope Nope, BRRRRRRRIIIIING!"
- Her Lindsay-ness
Was I the only one who stuck around after Electric Company to watch "3...2...1...Contact!" ?

I loved Sesame Street back in the day, though...
- Bren, Photophobe
One other thing that annoys me about today's Sesame Street is that Bert & Ernie are now Claymation. It was annoying enough that Bert was sidelined so that they'd do that silly Adventures with Ernie (or whatever it was called) sketch. But this is too much bad change. As I mentioned in another post, the Tweedledums are now CGI and so is Abby Cadabby. Boo!
- Anika
Nooooooooooooo. Ernie and Bert are Claymation? RIP Jim Henson.

We have 2 collections of "old school" sesame street and my daughter loves it. She could care less about the new show and we both are ready to turn it off once Elmo's bit comes on.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
The Ernie & Bert claymation thing really annoys me as well. Maya loves Elmo (unfortunately) and she also likes the "Murry has a little lamb" segments. She's just recently gotten into Abbie Cadabby. It is a much different show than when I was a kid. I was never into Electric Company but I was a big fan of Mr Rogers, especially the land of make believe.

:O Bert and Ernie are claymation now?! WHY?!?!?!

Bren, I adored 3-2-1 contact! I think Sesame Street/Henson were on some serious drugs, in a good way.
- anna sauce
I lived on Sesame Street and Vegetable Soup. Two amazing shows. "Come on along and join us..." EDIT: OH! and Electric Company! Spider-Man FTW!

How did I miss this. You're sweet. I still need those boxes too. I'm feeling better and things have calmed a bit, so I'll DM again for a better time.

Now, paypal used to make a big deal of how you can just email folks money. If we have a good email address - I guess it helps if it's the one tied to their account - we ought just be able to start emailing some money into their accounts now.

Ok peoples in relationships: How do you share? And by share, I mean share items like iPods and laptops without messing each others' playlists and files. I needs the help.
On shared computers, we have different logins. We don't share our mp3 players. Our only issue is things like Netflix, Xbox or Last.fm. He never signs out of my account, which means I have to delete a lot.

Ok, I was worried I was being a bitch of a girlfriend. Went to gym today and was tired of hearing the same songs over and over. Turns out that hundreds of my songs were gone and only 27 left. But his stuff was on there. I was/am a bit pissed. But I wasn't sure if I need to learn to share or if we need separate things.

I won't even let her touch me unless she fills out a 27B/6.
- Akiva Moskovitz

- VAL D.
It has to be included with the TPS reports.

We have always had separate computers - been together a decade.

Sadly my SO is horrible at filling out and turning in the correct paperwork

Oh, Katie...that would steam me up too. That's the #1 reason we don't share mp3 players, even though we have similar tastes in music.
- Anika
Whew! I was thinking I was overreacting. And all that was left was some British dude talking about technology and business ****yawn****
