Hadn't watched the show until I saw the post on Twitter and am now listening... Do you ever sleep? I thought I was the only one awake this late.
- Melissa Hourigan
Leo makes you all fall back, he's just that good at what he does.
- Tim Moore
does leo modulate through the amp or is that just him??
- Morgan
Leo is awesome. Been watching him since ZDtv :)
- Gary Bacon II
Scoble is not speaking of the iPhone. Disconnect Leo! Disconnect!
- Tim Moore
Ooooh, the xRez stuff. LOVE these images. Such incredible work.
- Bradley McSpinn
Leave Scoble Alone. XRez is a cool site. Plus it adds a little variety.
- Matt K.
Leo's got hours and hours to kill, i think he'll let anyone talk about anything at this point. He's going to keep doing this until 3 p.m. Pacific tomorrow! Soon I'm going to take a break and go to bed. Good luck Leo if you read this! I'll tune back in from work in the morning!
- Adam Turetzky
Thanks for the heads up about the Live Earth Thing. Couldn't see it thatnks to the TWiT Army DoSing it.

Forgot he was doing a marathon show tonight... dropped in earlier for Woz - missed you Robert, couldn't get into room... off to sleep. But wowza 6k at 11pm Pacific on a 'schoolnight'? WTG Leo.
- Lucretia Pruitt
Yeah, if Leo is going 24 hours, we may *all* get to guest before it's over (and I enjoyed your segment, Robert).
- Chris Baskind
Wayyy too laggy for me. Bloody Australian internet speeds!
- Chris Dahl
What is leo's irc? BTW heard you too.
- eyeonpower
i was impressed w/the quality and speed of the stream. good segment robert
- Chris
I agree with you Leo, that;s just wrong. Even Microsoft wouldn't do that.
- Tony C. Hall
Wow, if that's right, then that's really wrong.
- will killian
Tiger is a little harsh... But as a general rule, how far should they go back? OS9? Win 3.1? A little extreme I know but I know at least 3 people with iPods who still run legacy OS.
- Johnny Worthington
That's ridiculous. I highly doubt it has anything to do with compatibility with the software. Sound more like a Microsoft move.
- Matt K.
Requires 10.4.9 or later. Even though Tiger runs iTunes 7 just fine. There is absolutely no excuse for this.
- Leo Laporte
That's about the dumbest thing ever. When did Apple become like Microsoft?
- Margaret Kerr
from twhirl
I'm not so sure Leo. The tech spec pages all indicate iPods work with the latest update of 10.4. Might want to check up on this.
- Luke Hatcher
Capitialism is a bitch. Apple is in the business to make money and that is their bottom line. I don't see them rolling out an iPhone or iPod with removable storage (which wouldn't allow such large costs of upgrades to their customers). How easily we forget these companies are not nonprofit.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind."
- MG Siegler
10.4.9 is Tiger, isn't it? So no need to buy Leopard.
- Luke Hatcher
If your neighbor was told this it was by an ignorant "genius" because it is completely untrue.
- Sidney
yes, it is a tad outrageous; however, it does ensure the stability of the software...one of the many pitfalls of microsoft: supporting legacy software.
- Steven (optionshiftk)
That is just horrible! And to think that Apple had a heart!
- Michael Forian
having just purchased my first Mac, a MacBook Pro...go for it!
- Ryan
I use a mac, but I would NEVER ever accuse Apple of having a heart
- Deepak Singh
Sorry - I misspoke - she has Panther!
- Leo Laporte
Just one of the reasons that I don't like Apple as a company.
- xero
Absolutely - what is the technical reason it won't work with Panther? Panther runs iTunes 7 just fine. Is there some feature of 10.4-10.5 that the iPod requires?
- Leo Laporte
I'll bet it's a DRM issue. Something in fairplay requires a certain version level.
- Adam Turetzky
Is Quicktime still updated for Panther? On the other hand, I don't really see the greed there. It's not like Microsoft is still pushing Win2k or Win Meh ;-)
- Horst Gutmann
Same problem with down rev version of Windows. Bought a new iPod Nano 3G when they came out last year. Would not work on one of my old PC's running Win2K as Apple stopped supporting iTunes for the old MS OS. Had to use a WinXP machine to talk to the Nano.
- Jeff P. Henderson
I think Apple are getting a little too big for there boots. This is utter greed and just makes no sense. I hope they don't become like Microsoft.
- Michael McGimpsey
from twhirl
And why is this a surprise? If you are going to buy Apple products, you know damn well that you're entering a vertical market...
- Jonathan Beckett
yeah well, as the man said: it's a closed system. a bit like in the early days of industrialisation, when the owner of the factory also happened to own the only shop around.... so once you get in, there's no getting out.
- Günther Mulder
from twhirl
Have your friend get a Windows PC. That'll run the iPod. Hehe
- Adam Hechler
That's how Apple gets it money: screwing the consumer
- Outsanity
That is Pathetic....Apple is starting to act like Microsoft
- Matt

My 3g ipod works well with leopard, a shame that they are pulling those strings.
