Awkward: opposing healthcare reform because public funding is used for abortion, while insisting on use of public funding without restrictions. - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...
Actually some good observations in the Times blog. Cuban is partially right: Twitter *has* surpassed Google as a go to source for real time news. It's also surpassed the WSJ and other newspapers, too. The followed links from Facebook and Twitter could be far more profitable than Google's, simply by virtue of the audience following and their willingness to spend. But, end of day, if Newscorp isn't in the results page, they aren't a part of the conversation. It has a long term impact to their brand that will only result in a downtown in their customer's assignment of value. I know, I've seen it before. Show them that they can do without you, and they will.

As I have noted many times on my blog and here on FF, US foreign policy is driven by the acquisition of oil resources before the decline in production becomes obvious. To that end, the US has sought to underplay or distort geological findings confirming the decline in oil stock. Whistleblower confirms that yet again....
While the impact of climate change has a relatively long tail for human existence, the impact of declining oil production will cause more immediate concerns: increased cost of food, city flight, water rights, population control. War. Famine. US policy for the past 30 years has been driven by this recognition and a long arc towards controlling at least substantial portions of supply. Where control is not possible, economic participation is the secondary goal.
