"You may not be familiar with Jonathan and Joshua Luna, but in a few years you'll know them as well as any big-name creator in the comics industry. If you're curious about the next generation of up-and-coming creators, look no further than the Luna Brothers. With Ultra: Seven Days, the Brothers Luna have created a smart, witty and emotionally explosive superhero comic book. It's Sex and the City in tights. Ultra focuses on three metropolitan super-heroine friends living in fictional Spring City. In this world, superheroes are major celebrities. They have agents, appear on magazine covers and in TV ads. Why have an athlete promoting your soft drink when a hot chic with superpowers can do far better? Forget the secret identity and money issues faced by the likes of Clark Kent and Peter Parker, in Ultra, successful superheroes are rich. They live a glamorous life. But as with any high-profile career, the pressures are immense and the greatest toll is taken on the personal lives of each superhero."

"Ultra: Seven Days takes a realistic approach to superheroes. Not in terms of the science behind the powers, but in the humanity within each super. These three women are real and credible characters. The super-heroic antics are secondary to the story. The pain of betrayal felt by Pearl is greater than any melodramatic moment from a Spider-Man book. Fans of Brian Michael Bendis will find Ultra to be a worthy cousin to Powers. In fact, in some aspects, it surpasses Bendis' work, particularly the dialogue, which feels a bit more natural here."

"It's not all high drama, however. The Luna Brothers have a great sense of humor. The cover for each issue is a mock-up of a popular magazine, including Rolling Stone and Maxim. Each issue closes with a magazine article -- most of them interview -- which offer greater background and insight into the world of superheroes. Ultra is a perfectly contained story that introduces a new world of superheroes that is immediately familiar and comfortable. Few comics manage to successfully mix humor, sadness, excitement and gorgeous artwork into one package, but Ultra delivers. Of the graphic novels from the past five years, Ultra: Seven days is near the top of the list. This is book is golden and I can't wait to read more."

I liked Ultra, it was by far the Luna Brothers best work, but it is not as good as Powers
