Angela Connor - 18 Rules of Community Engagement 7/15/2009 - Deidre's Author BUZZ on Blog Talk Radio - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/DeidreH...
What Facebook ads are you seeing on your page today. You know they target your demographic right? Today mine is about Designer purses. "75% Off Designer Brands" is the headline. There's also one from Blue Cross Blue Shield, North Carolina. They must think I'm a shallow woman who loves designer purses and forfeits health insurance to buy the. The...
@miketempleton They do when it's all they ask over and over again.
Why do so many authors give Amazon all the power? I am really sick of the "help me get to number 1" campaigns. Ugh!
Being a new author I was clueless about review journals preference for pre-publication reviews. *Sigh.* Live and learn.
@gmarkham there are publicity services that will review your book and send it all over. You pay.
Should authors "pay" for book reviews? I'm new to book marketing but it feels inauthentic. Maybe it's my inner journalist.
nope they shouldn't - Wayne Sutton
Not at all. Never should you pay to review anything. - Anika Malone
No, nothing more than a review copy of the book should be given to someone. - Trish R
Note to the newer parent at my daughter's Montessori school: Wearing a doo-rag on your head while dropping off your daughter is not a good look. I'm still seeing it hours later.

@Edward04 I manage an online community with more than 13,000 members. Launched it in Feb 2007.
Managing a community solo sometimes drives me completely insane. Today is a perfect example. I DO NOT SCALE!
Twitter Authority Bites You in the Ass - http://www.engageinpr.com/2009...
"Hi Kyle. I say we don’t even worry about the people who are in it for numbers. That’s their thing and it will bite them, as you’ve illustrated above. I for one, have many more things to be concerned about. It is a bit ironic though. :-) And Jamie, I don’t think this trend will ever die. It will be reincarnated." - Angela
Older users becoming dominant on Facebook - http://blog.freshnetworks.com/2009...
"Interesting, Matt. I wonder if the younger demographic is annoyed by this at all or if various demos are simply able to exist in whatever Facebook silos they create?" - Angela
Do you have a strategy for online comments? - http://prsarahevans.com/2009...
"I happen to manage user-generated content and create policies for moderating comments on a major news website and it is very smart for you to suggest that people monitor the comments. I know for a fact that law enforcement agencies monitor comments on crime stories and many political types spend a lot of time foraging through comments as well to get the pulse of the community. Actively responding can do wonders for an organization and illustrate the value they place on the comments of others. Keep in mind though that some do not moderate comments and there can be some real trash out there. Good advice! Angela Connor | @communitygirl Author, “18 Rules of Community Engagement”" - Angela
39% of moms make "net" time their quiet time. This is a good read.

"Hi Martin: Letting other members know about posts that may interest them is a great thing to do. It illustrates knowledge of their interests and that goes a long way with community members. Good post!" - Angela
@Hollyseddon and @billfromsc Perhaps we think they'll label us "spammers?" When we really are community managers!
Sending a monthly newsletter to several thousands still makes me nervous. My feet actually get cold before hitting send!
Good luck with the new community @urbanreporter. It was great chatting with you as well. Call me if you get stuck!
Guidelines are important, but interpretation is key. http://blog.angelaconnor.com/2009... New post on managing communities.
When someone claims I can get something awesome for "just $1 dollar" I am immediately turned-off. Bad marketing move.
