this is the typical argument every generation makes up the following one - but Bauerlein, even though his thesis is a bit off, has some pretty interesting observations about how different generations handle information and knowledge. When I graduated from college in 1992, the meme regarding my generation was that we were a bunch of slackers who just wanted to slouch through life and acquire as many tattoos as possible. So far as I can tell the meme amongst baby boomers today regarding GenX is that we were born too early and missed the chance to grow up with the Internet.
