Came into work after vacation to find that FriendFeed has been blocked as "Social Networking". Very, very pissed off. Please post any other workarounds you know besides fftogo.
I take that back. I "can" see images and stuff on noiseriver, but the page layout is completely effed up. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

I take that back again. The ability to view images on noiseriver is intermittent. Someone please help me!!!!

Kamilah, there is a way to turn images on in FFtoGo. Go to http://www.fftogo.com/setting... and check the box to see thumbnails. Another option: if FB isn't blocked, you can use the FF app in FB.

Thank you, thank you. I'm in a panic... Facebook has been blocked forever

enabling thumbnails unblocks about 25% of things. I'm forced to hit "enter" for each image that doesn't open. I'm in full-blown hating mode over this right now. These idiots. I feel like screaming. I've Googled all over the place for help. ProgrammableWeb, Mashable, etc.

don't you have any free WiFi @ workplace for private needs? WiMax coverage from http://www.xohm.com/ ?
- A.T.
no silpol, I don't. I don't have a laptop, either for work or for private use. I have a simple cellphone without web access. I will probably get unlimited SMS to make up for some of this problem (right now I have limited messages because most of the time I just used FF for free)

a laptop with a 3g dongle? who needs the work network ;)

Hi Kamilah! Are you using NoiseRiver with a mobile? Never tried it myself on a mobile, I'm sorry for the annoyance :(

Get an iPhone. I am talking to you from mine.
- Robert Scoble
well, if there is no free WiFi then only WiMax (Xohm, see URL above at home) or 3G via dongle and netbook will help you -- netbook costs cheap nowadays and Wimax or 3G in bulk (unlimited) shall be cheap too...
- A.T.
I give this advice because the name of your (apparent from facebook) employer makes me think you will have sort of *digital jail* at work rather sooner...
- A.T.
I agree. The iPhone's been my best workaround so far.
- David Wynn
the problem you will have with using your iphone or your own netbook is that it will make it rather obvious to everyone around you that you aren't working.
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
The whole idea of filtering the "distracting content" is silly. When you're willing to work, you're working, when you are not, there's little filtering can do. People should be paid for the work done, not for mindlessly staring at the screen pretending that they're working. If one reads frf "all day" but has the work done, what's the problem? If not, maybe it's not frf's fault?

Thanks so much, everyone. I only use FF on breaks, at lunch, and when there is no work to do. I wish I could run out and get an iPhone right away, but I probably can't afford one. Not sure about a netbook, either. I might be able to save up a little for one of those options. Silpol, you're right about the digital jail, probably (& btw thanks for not telling where I work on FF). I can deal with fftogo probably (& secondarily noiseriver) until some genius finds and blocks these, too.

directeur, I use noiseriver through the pc browser. It looks like complete crap on ie6. I'm typing this comment right now through fftogo, which looks much better.

a $99 Acer netbook with $60 a month service might be an option, if I can also use it as a phone.....
