"In Germany similar laws apply to both bloggers and people running forums. They are held responsible for user comments which means they have to actively monitor and remove comments if they could be labeled libel,... So some bloggers have only allow pre-approved comments because they could be in serious trouble if a comment is for several hours on their blogs." - Carsten Pötter
really? I have just tried Seesmic in it and it brings me posts which are 9 months old, I must be searching the wrong way. You made me come back to Ask, first time in like 6 or 7 years... Unsure I will go back again though. - Loic Le Meur
Loic, there are three ways to search, "recent" wasn't what you chose apparently. I use Ask.com blogsearch all the time and it's worth getting to know, imho - Marshall Kirkpatrick
Thanks for sharing. Haven't been there in SOOOO long. Worth a peek - Charlie Anzman
Ask/Bloglines offers really good blog search. Much better than Google Blog Search. Though I have to use it more often. Technorati is still my default blog search engine. - Carsten Pötter
I hadn't heard about this. must check it out. Technorati seems to get more irrevelant every day... - john conroy
Thanks for sharing this, I'll have to check it out. - Aaron Myers
"Well, difficult to tell. I'm probably a selective liker, although all kinds seem to apply to me sometimes.
I don't want to be a know-it-all but did you use the abbreviation FOAF intentionally? It's a standard to describe friends semantically (see http://www.foaf-project.org/), so using it in this context could lead to confusion." - Carsten Pötter
"Same window. If I want links to open in a new tab/window I want it to be a conscious decision by me. All points raised by Mark Trapp are valid, too."
"No, there's no write up about it anywhere. I haven't blogged since two weeks (I should change this, I guess). Well, the reset actually works. Though since I have the full OPML file in one reader, and the limited one in another I switch between both depending on time available. The past two days I hardly had any time to read feeds, so I just read the limited feeds. And I guess, I didn't miss any important news. So it works. :) Maybe I'll be brave enough to completely switch to the limited number of feeds." - Carsten Pötter
"TechCrunch buckled under the pressure? It was unavailable? Hell, even Arrington can't scale a service. Web 2.0 is in trouble, folks!" - Carsten Pötter
"Well, after some consideration I will join in as well. Though admittedly, just partly. My current OPML file will stay in FeedDemon (my reader of choice) and a stripped down one will be added to Google Reader. I will try this for a few weeks and see what works best."
Excellent analysis why advertisement on the web doesn't work and that so called web 2.0 companies have to look for new ways of revenue. - Carsten Pötter
how can we get the one common site where everyone lines up to get an open ID and there are multiple mirror sites of the same ....? If I get one at MyopneID and one at Yahoo are they both going to be the very same protocol or whatever the tech word is ? - viki saigal
very good point, particularly given now I've got one from each. - Duncan Riley via twhirl
I'm not sure what you really mean, Viki. A site where you can choose from different providers? Well, since there are hundreds of providers already out there, it might become confusing. And yes, both MyOpenID and Yahoo! are using the same protocol. However Yahoo! just version 2.0, so you can only log in with a Yahoo! OpenID to sites that also support OpenID 2.0. Some sites are listed here: http://gallery.yahoo.com/openi... - Carsten Pötter
Exactly my point - would of thought OpenID is a unique homogenous ID accross all sites that offer their use ...hence every site that offers you the ability to create one be it Yahoo or 37 or MyOpen or for that matter the nearest 7-11 - should all offer the same thingamajig - I am not sure thats the case - If it is - then please treat this as "ignorance" on my part ( what do you expect from a banker by day !!) - viki saigal
I refuse to use my Yahoo OpenIDs. Their implementation was absolutely ridiculous. If I can't use my existing on their sites, why would I want to use theirs on others? - Cyndy
Cyndy, luckily there's tons out there to choose from. I recently started using Beemba (www.beemba.com) over MyOpenID. Very easy to use and works everywhere I've had to use it :) - Jeff Brewster
Of course, you can use your OpenID on every site that supports it. Blatant self-promotion: My friend Thomas Huhn and I have created Spread OpenID where we compare features of different OpenID providers: http://spreadopenid.org/provid... - Carsten Pötter
Zackly my point bro - anyone ever heard of KISS ?? bah i am just adding noise to the noise - so I better shaddap now- nuff said - point made- toodeloo - viki saigal
@Carsten: Great site, thanks for taking the time to compile that list. - Jeff Brewster
