"From the marketing collaterals that have leaked, it is practically certain that the Blackberry 9700 will be named Curve 2. If you remember the Blackberry 85xx was the initial Curve. But then isn't the Blackberry 8900 the Curve 2? Apparently not... it's not a big deal, but that makes it just a little more confusing. If anything, Blackberry could have called the 8900 Curve 2 and the 9700 the Curve 3G... oh wait, someone else has been using something this."
