8/10 I had 2 out of 4 guesses wrong - Jose Ignacio
You did very well, José Ignacio. And guessing is a valuable skill! - Margot Kinberg
ditto, 2 guesses wrong - Bernadette
Bernadette - 8/10 's a fine score. And honestly, I wish I were a good guesser... - Margot Kinberg
10/10 thanks Margot! - Karen Meek
Oh, excellent, Karen!! Well done! I'm most impressed. - Margot Kinberg

I hadn't thought of Wilt being crime fiction. - Rich Westwood from Android
Well it certainly isn't crime fiction in the sense we usually think of it. How about 'might be crime' fiction? ;-) - Margot Kinberg

Review: THE DARKEST LITTLE ROOM by Patrick Holland - http://fairdinkumcrime.com/2013...
You make some really strong points here, Bernadette. - Margot Kinberg
Thanks Margot...I worry sometimes that I'm being too personal - Bernadette
I know what you mean, Bernadette, but I don't think that happened here. - Margot Kinberg
If it helps Bernadette, the first couple of paragraphs of synopsis you gave set my personal alarm bells ringing re:objectification of women, and whether some of the content may be salacious. TBH the title reminds me too much of the strange new vogue for the "romantic" male sadist genre. - LauraRoot
Thanks Laura...I too have noticed this strange trend and find it ...disturbing. I think one of the reasons I struggled with the objectification in this book it has been almost universally ignored in discussions of the book. Most reviews are glowing...all touting the author as the next Graham Green (he even says himself he was inspired by Green) ...Frankly I think the similarities are fairly superficial...but I do wonder if my reaction is gender/age related. Of course I could be over-thinking things :) - Bernadette
very good review - Moira Redmond

I have been mulling over this question since I finished reading the 4th short listed title. Can't decide what to answer for either poll - Bernadette from iPhone
I've only read one of the four, so I feel it would be unfair to speculate. Pierced has very nearly reached the top of Mt TBR, this may be the incentive to propel it to the top :) - LauraRoot
Last Will has a scientific theme, and the protagonist Annika Bengtzon is a journalist with a family. Even though the Leif GW Persson may be a slightly better book, I hope Last Will wins this first Petrona Award simply because that will be a closer connection with our memories of Maxine. - Norman
Not had many votes yet - not sure if it's blogger losing them :(. - Karen Meek
The blogger polls don't seem to be working so I've put a new set up using survey monkey - not as neat but perhaps it will work, so please could you vote again :). And/or let me know if it's all right? The results are hidden at the mo though. - Karen Meek

Rob, I want you to know that Stiffed has given me a chance to procrastinate when I'm supposed to be writing my performance evaluation (which is already late) and I'm enjoying it (your book, not the performance evaluation). Certainly different from your police procedurals. I also like the cast of character that you are assembling. Great fun. - Mack Lundy
I daren't think what Tadhg and his friends' performance evaluation would look like. F- probably. If there's a way of plunging themselves into more and more hot water, they find it. - Rob

The Christie in a Year person is doing really well. She reads about 6 a month (and nothing much else I imagine). I think at this rate she will hit her target. Her notes/reviews are a marvel too. http://knowingchristie.wordpress.com/ - Kerrie
