Does this mean we can officially put newspapers into the same unbelievabley overblown whiney-ass oh-me-so-poor boat of the teacher unions. - Michael O'Neill

I tuned out after the gleeful quoting of Barney Frank. Liberals are absolutely awash in continued cannibalism of non-ideas amongst themselves that they lose elections where their ideas are actually winning. - Michael O'Neill

"I think a legitimate solution - because waiting around for all the application providers to solve this isn't - the feature set that comes with unified messaging solutions (especially those resting on VOIP infrastructure) could solve this. You could have any/all of your SMS-enabled applications sending you messages to your VOIP endpoint (e.g., a SIP phone) could easily gatekeep any sort of application/schedule convergance you choose. I'll have to look into if my company sells this application feature in it's VOIP product." - Michael O'Neill

"In that case, I couldn't agree with you more. I suppose in my mind I don't expect this sort of management feature, which is why I don't enable SMS anywhere. In fact even futher along that thought up the management feature stream, because my cell phone provider won't allow me to whitelist inbound text messages senders (which is a TOTAL conspiracy), I long ago concluded that SMS was something only the nether reaches of third world could love (which they DO so very very much)." - Michael O'Neill

"Meetup.com is a special circumstance where the site could presume what timezone the SMS target resides, but really why would you expect the websites of the world to manage (a) what is a non-critical? Isn't that in the eye of the beholder? and (b) what time it is from the target's perspective? because we are dealing with mobile devices, even captured meta data for user's time zone is of limited reliability. I put all of this issue's angst squarely on you, even though I completely despise both meetup.com and commerical SMS. (but I'm coming around on Twitter)" - Michael O'Neill

This is ridiculous. By this ruling, the U.S. Appeals Court is on track to make kiddie porn legal, as long as the criminals in the videos are unrecognizable, it's just "free expression". Give me a fucking break. - Michael O'Neill

"Andy, having been a father for quite some time I can tell you about one of the great rewards of intimacy with my children are their dreams shared with me. Some of the things I do are for their dreams to have a chance and some for mine. It's always going to be a balance, even when you settle down and you are supposed to "sacrifice" for others." - Michael O'Neill

"I am saying the opportunity to pursue dreams in practical terms has eluded and continues to elude the staggering overwhelming majority of people since forever. If you don't see that than I don't think your perspective of the real world as it is and has been is very accurate. I am saying that dreams are much more beautiful thoughts than just those things beyond basic needs. Dreams are not just lofty goals, they are passions that require a belief or a desire that far exceeds what one could genuinely expect to happen. Yes history tells us of a long thread of dreamers that made differences in their own lives and because of their dreams realized, differences in all our lives - but history is written by and about such winners. For every such historical subject of enlightment there are many more dreary unlight candles. For every celebrated artist, there are ten thousand photoshop hacks making rent. For every inventor of extraordinary new things, there are hundred thousand guys mowing lawns...." - Michael O'Neill

"It's quite "new world" of you to even consider that your dreams matter. For the overwhelming majority of humans in history and currently alive, dreams are just that. The fact that you see a correlation between dreams and their implementation in reality is a variety of spoiled-ness in my opinion. I share your spoiled-ness in this regard, but I'm aware that it is in fact what it is." - Michael O'Neill
