Senator Kohl's recent email update explains the new federal push to fight Alzheimer's disease through funding more research and help for families and caregivers. The question is are they really interested in a cure, or just more drugs and expensive medical therapies? If they are honest about wanting a cure (which would take money away from Big Pharma and Big Medicine) they will put dollars
It is perhaps indicative of how tense things are here right now that Iran has taken the trouble to deny Prime Minister Netanyahu's accusation that it was responsible for the attempted bombings at Israel's embassies in New Delhi and Tbilisi on Monday. Iran rejects as "sheer lies" accusations that it was involved in a bomb attack on the Israeli embassy in India, the official IRNA news agency quoted
Erick Erickson warns: "Rick Santorum is a pro-life statist. He is. You will have to deal with it." He is a big government conservative. Santorum is right on social issues, but has never let his love of social issues stand in the way of the creeping expansion of the welfare state. In fact, he has been complicit in the expansion of the welfare state.... Now, thusly forewarned, check this out: The latest Public Policy Polling survey shows Santorum leading Romney by 15 percentage points in the Republican presidential race. In the wake of his upset victory in Colorado and his...

The recent uproar regarding Obamacare’s contraception and abortifacient mandates has cast the spotlight on the Catholic Church, but what about American Muslims and Jews? Have their religious liberties been violated as well? Accuracy in Media offers an exclusive preview of this week’s video investigation titled Religious Liberty and The Birth Control Mandate.

I want to highlight one more thing from Jennifer Dyer's post, which was quoted by Soccer Dad in the previous post, and that is the lack of American leadership on Syria. The bottom line, however, is that the US could handle the whole Syria issue differently. What is missing in this saga is American leadership, on traditional American principles. The outcome in Syria is not solely about a
A 20 year deferment of property taxes equaling more than $2 million bucks. I guess it is ok when a Democrat does it. Hey Cory Mason, John Lehman, Kelly Gallaher, Randy Brandt and all you other screaming class warfaring Racine leftists. Where is your otrage on this tax cut for the rich?
As the White House releases the 2013 budget, corporate taxation could be an issue where Congress can find compromise in fiscal policy. Both parties agree the current corporate tax regime is inefficient and often disadvantages U.S. businesses globally.
Without question Tea Partiers are unhappy with the elites of Washington D.C. Yet Cleta Mitchell is one Washingtonian that has became a welcome addition to the campaigns of some high profile Tea Party candidates. Mrs. Mitchell, you see, is the in-demand, bulldog election law attorney that many Tea Party candidates go to when things began [...]

The firestorm of negative publicity generated by the HHS contraceptive-coverage mandate has put President Obama’s allies on the defensive. Several members of the Catholic Left, including E.J. Dionne and Michael Sean Winters, have criticized the mandate, and some Democratic Senators have openly called for a compromise. However, late last week, many of President Obama’s liberal allies were making a concerted effort to defend the mandate. Most of them are skirting the religious-liberty and conscience issues and arguing that contraceptive use is both beneficial and universal. Unfortunately, the statistics they are using to defend the mandate are misleading at best. Senator Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) released a statement claiming that Title X family-planning programs prevent over 400,000 abortions a year. However, this statistic comes from a flawed Guttmacher Institute analysis which assumes that, in the absence of these programs, women would be unable to find contraception of equal...
Mitt Romney has relentlessly criticized Rick Santorum for his earmark requests as senator. Turns out, the Romney administration worked to obtain certain earmarks from Washington. The Associated Press reports: Keep reading this post . . .
He touts his Bay State record: “The perception is quite different than the reality,” he continues. “I want people to remember that I was on the front lines on conservative social issues, on conservative fiscal issues, and standing up for conservative foreign-policy values. I wanted to reacquaint people with what they remember from four years ago.” Keep reading this post . . .
Reuters reports that bombs targeted staff at Israel’s embassies in India and Georgia. No one was killed, but four were wounded in the New Delhi bombing; the Tblisi bomb was defused by Georgian police. The incidents come a day after the fourth anniversary of the killing of Imad Mugniyah, the Hezbollah leader, in Damascus — for which Iran and Hezbollah blame Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran and Hezbollah of involvement in today’s bombing and attempted bombing.
Sarah Palin questioned Mitt Romney’s conservative credentials yesterday, saying that she believed most voters were “not convinced” that Romney was a genuine conservative. “We will want to see that candidate whom we can trust will just inherently, instinctively turn right, always err on the side of conservativism,” Palin said on Fox News Sunday. Romney, she continued, had failed to inspire voters he was that kind of candidate. Keep reading this post . . .
As the Obama administration struggles to defend the contraception mandate, they’ve particularly targeted one GOP candidate: Mitt Romney. “The former governor of Massachusetts is an odd messenger on this given that the services that this rule would provide for women around the country are the same that are provided in Massachusetts and were provided when he was governor, including contraception, including covered with no co-pay or deductible, and a religious exemption for houses of worship and churches and church-controlled organizations such as parochial schools, but not to universities and hospitals,” said Jay Carney in a press briefing last week. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ow. Phew. Let me catch my breath. I just heard about the launch of the Obama administration’s new “Truth Team.” (Which is, in truth, the same thing as Attack Watch and all the other Obama snitch brigades created over the past three years.) Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahah. [Wiping tear from eye.] Yes, the “Truth Team” is here [...]

Republicans See Need to Give Paul a Voice THE WASHINGTON TIMES: Rep. Ron Paul and his loyal band of supporters were uncharacteristically missing from the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington last week — and high-profile Republican leaders say the party can’t afford for that to happen in November if the GOP is to win the White House. They pointed to, and applauded, the 76-
China's presumptive next leader Xi Jinping visits the U.S. this week. Little was known about Xi when the visit was first announced a year ago, but since then a fuller picture has begun to emerge. WSJ's Josh Chin and Jeremy Page report from Beijing.
