Apple the new world leader in software insecurity - http://arstechnica.com/securit...
"To illustrate this point, the report includes cumulative figures for the number of vulnerabilities found on a Windows PC with the 50 most widely-used programs. Five years ago, there were more first-party flaws (in Windows and Microsoft's other software) than third-party. Since about 2007, the balance shifted towards third-party programs. This year, third-party flaws are predicted to outnumber first-party flaws by two-to-one." - Kris Hoet

Killing a brand softly - http://cultureby.com/2010...
Last week, quietly and without fanfare, ThinkPad decided not to renew its flagship model, the X301. The X301 is a beautiful machine. It has that wonderful ThinkPad keyboard, a huge screen, and it weighs only a little bit more than a ballet slipper. It is a miraculous demonstration of what design and engineer can do.`And now it’s done for. Lenovo is proposing the ThinkPad T410s as the x301s replacement. When called upon to explain himself, Lenovo Marketing Director, Wang Lipin said that T400 series was more powerful than the x301, and cheaper by a thousand dollars. The trouble: the T400 doesn’t have “it” quality. It is a business machine in the most pedestrian sense of the term. No trace of elegance. No claim to being the pick of the technological litter. No “wow” factor. The T410 is just another business machine. - Kris Hoet

- Kris Hoet

Live Search Adds “Show Similar Images” Feature | Sarah In Tampa | Channel 10 - http://on10.net/blogs...
"The Live Search team just announced the addition of a new feature to Live Image Search: the ability to find related images. When you hover your cursor over one of the images in the Live search results, you’ll see a new option called “Show Similar Images.” Click on that and you’ll see a new set of results focused around the initial image. This is actually very useful for anyone who does a lot of image searches and needing to quickly narrow down the options. " - Kris Hoet

"We’ve written previously about ways the blogosphere is influencing traditional journalism, but in the interest of being equal, we thought a recent piece by Anita Bruzzese noting ten lessons bloggers can learn from journalists was worth mentioning, particularly given the fact that more and more people are turning to alternative media sources to get their news and information." - Kris Hoet
