Why haven't we fixed the inane TCP/IP port settings on Windows printers? It's entirely too difficult for the average user.

"average users" don't configure Windows. You can only run Windows if you have a fully-trained, highly-paid technical support staff.

But network printers are all too common now. As with everything, Windows goes after ease of use when a task becomes common for average home users.
