Friendfeeders! My fiance and I need some international travel recommendations! We are going to be travelling overseas following our April wedding from mid-June to mid-August. http://www.carterheartscarrie.com/2009...
Oh! I should preface that we are American (Austin, TX) and are targeting an "around the world" trip flying west out of the U.S. The picture above was taken in Vietnam.

Kerala, India. Especially the backwaters and a night in a "boat house". Suggest you make this as late as possible; June n July are heavy monsoon months.
- Deepak Prakash
I've always wanted to visit Bali, perhaps that would be an option for you.
- FFing Enigma
Tina, I've been to Bali and it was amazing. I strongly suggest you go. There's another island nearby called Lombok that I'm curious about. Anyone been to Lombok?

<shameless bump, we really need some more suggestions post haste>

You want to stay on that side of the world? Okinawa, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Russia
- Shevonne
BUMPing again, cause I wanna know some locales too.
- SteVe C
I'm all over TripAdvisor, but sometimes you just can't beat a personal and in-depth recommendation. Especially if it's fresh in someone's mind.

Where's my Turkish contingent at?I'm dying to go to Istanbul, but I wouldn't know where to start :/
- Carter ♥ HTML5
Well this is totally different than what I'm seeing, but if you all the way 'round I'd suggest stopping in Ireland. The weather that time of year is great, daylight is nearly endless, and the people are wonderful
- Bill Rawlinson
@Bill any cities/towns/places that we should make sure to see while we're there?

Carter: what kind of trip do you prefer? Historic? Sight seeing? Leisure? Partying? Festivals? Istanbul can offer all sorts of entertainment for you.. Just name it and I'll try to help you out :-)
- Burak "cyrus" Bayburtlu
Uh.... fun? :) We're young (early 30's) and want to find a good balance between enjoying ourselves and seeing the wonders of the world. We probably can't commit more than 5-7 days.

I highly recommend Negril, Jamaica. Best beaches in the world, hands down. If you want somewhere a little further out from traditional tourist areas, check out Sandals Whitehouse http://www.sandals.com/main...
- Shey
@Helen, GREAT recommendation! I'll definitely jot that down. @Shey, we are looking hard at the Caribbean. I'm 50% Cuban, so we might even try to sneak over there for a few nights.

One day at Kanyon - a cool shopping mall - for shopping cheaper than any European country You have a wife don't you :-) ) One day at İstiklal Caddesi - Beyoğlu - You will have lot's of places to see and..

...you can end the night there visiting rock bars or clubs - whichever you prefer. And one final thing I can offer is.. eating out at a fish restaurant - be my guest :-)

We really liked Doolin which was on the Cliffs of Mohar (very small, but great pub with amazing music there). I really liked Galway between the choices of Galway and Dublin, but Dublin had more "stuff" to do in it. My wife really enjoyed Killarny. a nice place to stop and see was Powerscourt in the town of Enniskerry which is has amazing gardens and is to the south of Dublin in Waterford County. I apologize to any Irish for bad spelling. -- Oh, and, Congratulations and enjoy your trip!
- Bill Rawlinson
@Burak, if we make it to Istanbul, you're on! @Bill, I'm fairly certain Carrie has Irish blood (her last name is Knittel and she's fair and freckled). I'll definitely have to put Ireland up there. Thanks to everyone for all their help!
