"I couldn't agree with you more. It is, however, this very same myopia that prevents GoogleDocs from growing at an even faster rate within certain segments of the market - most noticeably the mid-market space where there is a lack of IT innovation. As software vendors, we often have the mantra of "eating your own dog food" and never "defecting," or otherwise leveraging your opponents platform. I think that this software machismo is overrated. I, on the other hand, will gladly eat my enemy's rations if if allows me to outmaneuver them at a later date. By making "the switch" easier for end-users with a Windows desktop integration, Google would paint the way for more growth among the leagues of non-technical savvy office workers."

"Update: here is a great article from a UK council on stimulating the reuse of goods, in this case tables, but could be applied to easily repaired electronic items. http://www.the-environment-cou...... Note, this concept is not to be confused with electronic recyclers of CRT tubes, but for broad spectrum repairs of basic household items of any mechanics: washers, dryers, kettles, that could be of value to homes who cannot afford these necessities. Hence, it is purely a non-profit."

Just reading the tone of these financial experts statements makes me wonder if anything besides psychology and opinion control the market. Where are facts... so sad. Net loss in GDP, total debt written off, etc. Not "psycholgical floor" and "7,000 is a nice round number." Are you serious?

"No worries Ben - glad you liked. It's part of the upstart blogger futurosity theme. As well, I'm using the GetRecentComments Wordpress plugin. Just use Firebug to sniff the CSS used around the unordered list items."

"Thanks Felix, I'll be sure to catch up with Sanebull. It's been a while since I wrote this post in 2007! (Note to self, update WP theme to include date stamps on the posts...)"

"That is very true, and I would agree that the media aren't inclined to glamorize the image of industry overseas. In the end, however, its only harmful in as much avoiding telling your children the truth about a difficult topic is. At some point, the nation has to take heed and change. Would love to see the media use this as a motivational tool, as opposed to hiding from it."
