What if they turn off FF.com though and integrate with FB :(
- Mark
Leo, I've respected you for years, but I see no evidence that anybody has a clue what they're doing with this merger. I like Facebook; I like Friendfeed, but I like Friendfeed more and I see way more potential for downside in this deal, as a user, than I do upside.
- Scott of Two Countries
still the begining, let see what wave will do
- abdellah
But will it become a combined service? I doubt it.
- jcunwired
Leo, the word 'Leadership' is exactly right. As Dave and Robert recently discussed, the most frustrating aspects of Twitter are the inconsistent business practices, seemingly arrogant attitude, and poor account management. I'm glad FriendBook stepped up.
- Dan Patterson
My worry is that the public facing service that made Friendfeed so great will disappear...
- Andrew Terry
Don't forget their also buying brains...there is some real talent at friendfeed
- Jason Stephens
I want only to carry on going to Friendfeed.com. Don't want it to be built into Facebook
- Mark
@jason remember tey qui Google, they will never stay at FB
- abdellah
If they keep FF.com then fine...if I have to go to FB to use FF forget it
- Randy Pollock
I am an instructor and just integrated Friendfeed into my classes for sharing, etc. The groups and privacy were the winner. I cannot see taking the same thing over to FB even if it had the functionality because of its rep. I liked having a professional social media, and a private one on FB for my friends. I am somewhat bummed.
- TonyatMATC
Anyone watch that British show "The IT Crowd"? The Friendface episode now has whole new meaning haha
- Mike
For this week's TWiT, can we please have Scoble to talk about this? I think he's one of the most appropriate people to talk to.
- Michel

If Scoble is there, invite Louis Gray too. We need a realistic perspective.
- jcunwired
Seconded for Louis Grey, Akiva Moskowitz, or Ken Sheppardson.
- Matthew DeVries
Leo, are you rolling live with anything today/tonight on this?
- Matthew DeVries
Guys, if you think FF is going to stick around read the press release and look at how many non-Facebook websites Facebook runs. They bought the people and maybe the tech, but FF as an independent app is toast.
- invariant - farewell FF
This is facebooks chance to have a public facing component, and to not have to duplicate Friendfeed, it's a win. And what's this thing called Twitter?
- Christian Burns

Wishful thinking ... Does Google split with TM owners? Twitter with UGC? No
- Scott Moskowitz

i just told someone how much better ff is than fb!! now this?
- Mike Pollock
Thank my lucky stars I listen to Leo...couldnt get the name I wanted on twitter so I got it on Friendfeed.......in two weeks we ll all be saying Ashton and twitter who?
- Flex Fitness
DO NOT WANT FF intergrated with Facebook....period
- Johann Diaz

I dont buy the open facebook thing. big bad google is just waiting to index all of that content...
- Roberto Bonini
from iPhone
it's not in Facebook's interest to be open; they'll be slaves to Google if they go down that route...
- Andrew Terry
If I'm Google right now, I move in and buy twitter
- Ankush Narula
What happens for those of us that use FF but not FB?
- Simon Bodger
Does Twitter need Google though? Twitter revels in it's simplicity... for better or worse they are the evolutionary cockroach of the social media world.
- Adrian
FF connected me with new friends that I would never have known. FB connects me with old friends I could have done without. :(
- jcunwired
I don't think this is a good thing - I totally agree with jcunwired.
- Zphotogal
Google needs twitter's real-time pulse ... but more so they need the FB/FF/twitter status updates that will all eventually be landing on twitter
- Ankush Narula
I was an avid Jaiku user from the start and long until after Google bought them right up to the day that Google killed it (made it "Open Source"). The painful reality is that Facebook can either take the high road and make Friendfeed even better while integrating it, or kill it slowly. Let's hope that they avoid the killing!

Leo is a pioneer and I'm sure he's watched closely by the big networks.

"Million dollar business"??? Hope it is true Leo - you certainly deserve it.
- Euan
Nice article indeed. Great business. Listen to you almost every day
- Robert
Been following Leo for years. I loved Screensavers and Call for Help. I am so glad he decided to break the paradigm and show the big boys what a geek with motivation can do. GET SOME LEO!!!!!!!!!!!
- Robert C
I love Leo and have always been a huge fan. Sadly I haven't been able to listen to TWiT in a long time (just haven't has the time) but from what I have heard from numerous sources the show has really taken an awful turn for the worse. I saw tweets from people today saying they couldn't even make it through the current episode of Macbreak weekly because it was so bad. Like I said I haven't been able to tune in for a while, anyone else find that the network has given up on quality content?
- Nicholas Kreidberg
The TWiT podcast is better than ever recently.
- Phillip Stewart
Great exposure Leo! FWIW, Brian Brushwood has been an awesome contributor to TWiT. Revision3 is letting him go to waste just doing Scam School.
- Paul Reynolds
I hate to be a naysayer, but I've yet to find an online office suite that can come close to "business use." Little league rosters, yes. Production metrics for analysis, no.
- Vince DeGeorge
Google Docs is the first app I think of when I need to dump thoughts into a file. Congrats to Zoho though.
