Your Welcome, and I saw the Tsunami info too, just for a second, then it refreshes?! - CyberCoder
Yeah, seemed to lag for a while which confused me. Perhaps it's the network I'm on right now...ah well...onward. - Wayne John

Blogging and RSS feels to me, well, so slow these days. Twitter search and tools tell me the news more quickly. What's the future for blogs?
Those tweets have to link somewhere, right? - Tom Landini
...someone's still got to create content to be searched and tweeted about, no? - .LAG liked that
Yup, won't be anything to find in all those fancy realtime searches if nobody spends time to write anything. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
How often do you see something and think, I guess I should blog this and then realize a tweet is more appropriate - Dan Perlman
@Tom That's right! - Brad Williamson
blogs should continue for a while..i think the process will morph into something much closer to a hybrid publishing model utilizing bits and pieces of blogging, microblogging and syndication -- essentially giving the user the ability to distribute and create content based on the medium. - George Dearing
A blog comment system that will give an option to simultaneously tweet the comment. First 100 characters and a link. All this making conversation more instantaneous - Jim Goldstein
Blogging longform isn't going away at all. What we have here is people who are on the cutting edge who have a tendency to move off the past mainstays just as others are catching up. I have no intentions to stop blogging and so long as those who were dabbling in it move on, the better for us who are committed. - Louis Gray
@DanPerlman: you bring up a good point: the brevity and immediacy of Twitter has probably short-circuited millions of potential blog posts. why, because the ultimate goal is to "publish" something -- take an observation, and make it public. with Twitter it's almost instantaneous. i can only speak from my own experience and observations, but most people choose the path of least... more... - .LAG liked that
I never really used blogs for news but rather for more in depth opinions about a topic, hopefully from a source I trust. Blogs will (I hope) still have their place but I also welcome the speed and brevity of getting info via Twitter. To me RSS is like blogs and Twitter combined; I treat a good headline like a good Tweet. :) - Jon West
I agree w/Louis Gray and LAG. I blog because I have something to say and it's almost always longer than 140 characters. I like Twitter, but find myself just popping in to say hi to a few friends more and more as my interest in brief conversations wanes. - Molly
Twitter has just replaced the headlines that we were getting in Feed Readers before. Blogs are really still the same with just a new entry point that is more real time. - CyberCoder
...perhaps blogs, well, the well-written ones at least, sorry Perez Hilton, will become like the PBS of cyberspace, were Twitter and status updates on FB, et al, will be the headline news channels, in terms of content quality and depth... - .LAG liked that
same as the future for magazines - analysis. A place to go for more in-depth consideration. Blogs were never really about news for me anyway. - Simon Young from twhirl
Long-form blogs will separate clear thinkers/writers from those who can't think/write clearly/well. - Victor Panlilio

http://tweetree.com/ is nice, it won't replace TweetDeck on my screen, but it is nice. Worth a tryout on your systems.
what is the difference in the two? - Paul
Tweetdeck is a separate app that refreshes automatically and lets you see more. Tweetdeck is in between friendfeed and twitter. - Robert Scoble
Ok, I'm going to try out Tweetdeck also and see how that is!! - Paul
What about people browsr? It does more than tweetdeck, isn't it? It does everything tweetdeck does and also supports friendfeed, digg and a lot more services. - Ramkarthik
peoplebrowsr is down right now. But I like Tweetdeck better for twitter watching. Tweetdeck is a separate app, separate from browser. That makes it more useful to me for a few reasons. - Robert Scoble
I stopped using tweetdeck because of the API thing. It always went down to 0 from 100 in around 45 minutes. I have no idea how to control it. So I use apps like spaz and sometimes people browsr when I'm browsing in safari, which I don't do most of the times. - Ramkarthik
Thanks for the link Robert! Tweetree looks great. - Daynah
Ramkarthik: I turned down the number of times Tweetdeck polls to a lot slower than its default. I never had a problem after that and I get more work done too. - Robert Scoble
Robert: Maybe I should try doing that. I can see it work properly for me since it is working for you in spite of having 45,000+ followers. Thanks :) - Ramkarthik
When Friendfeed standard stopped reloading for me a few months back, I'd switched to the realtime, then they fixed the problem, and I find realtime way too fast for me to keep up with. - Prolific Programmer
Big difference for me is Tweetree is web based not desktop app - CyberCoder
Prolific Programmer: Real time shows when people click on "like". People normally click on like more often and comment less. It takes only a second to click on "Like". So when you are subscribed to many people, there are so many likes to the extent that your realtime doesn't stop for a moment. - Ramkarthik
For me, the desktop client makes a huge difference in the usefulness of a social networking tool. I never found twitter on the web that compelling. It is only with a tool like Twhirl or Tweetdeck it has become really useful. - Joe Brinkman
At first I thought it was another attempt to hack Twitter's (lack of) conversation context, but then I was pleasantly surprised by their rich media embedding (Pownce reborn?) We'll see. - Bwana ☠
Bwana, to me the "rich media embedding" is the key feature. - Dave Winer
If anything, Tweetree is showing Twitter what's possible. Of course, many companies are showing Twitter was else is possible. - Mark Evans
I'm starting to like Tweetdeck it seems to be growing on me!! ;P - Paul
TweetDeck and Tweetree are two different beasts. - Mathew™ one of a kind

I made a settings change on my wordpress blog and now its hosed. need help! :)
I was messing with some settings and messed it up. cannot get into the dashboard via wp-admin. should i just reinstall wordpress and point it to the database? is there a way to change settings without accessing the dashboard. - (jeff)isageek
Depends on what setting change you made? - CyberCoder
I changed the blog address from jeffisageek.net/blog to jeffisageek.net/blog/315 just messing with some settings. guess i shouldnt have done that one :) - (jeff)isageek
You should be able to set that back in Database, using PHPMyAdmin - CyberCoder
Just change the default back in the .htaccess file to /blog? - Trish R
@cybercoder once I am in PHPMyAdmin where do I want to go to change that info? thx - (jeff)isageek
I believe it is in the Options table, URL? - CyberCoder
@CyberCoder - Found it and changed it back! thanks a million!!! :) - (jeff)isageek
there are 2 places, siteurl and home, both are in wp_options - CyberCoder

Why do people keep talking about how hot Sarah Palin is? Am I missing something?
It's relative to Cheney. - Paul Buchheit
+1 Paul - Roberto Bonini
Could it possibly be that different people have different tastes? - Akiva Moskovitz
I think she's a babe myself - john conroy
Age, Cheney, McCain, Hillary, nuff said - CyberCoder
No, it couldn't. - Jordan Hofker
in contrast with the others, we usually see in politics... - Pokai
I find her voice a total turn-off though. Very squeaky. - Robert Felty
Alaska hot. - peter
It's the Secretly Sexy Teacher/Librarian meme. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch... But don't ask me to explain it. I have an insufficient number of Y chromosomes. - Heidi Moon
I think she is very beautiful... not that this should matter. - Rob Reed
Yeah, I don't get it either... she reminds me of Peggy Hill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) more than anyone else. She's easier on the eyes than the crusty old guys we usually see, but that doesn't make her hot. - Keith Pelczarski
Yeah, it's gotta just be a comparative thing. I understand the sexy librarian meme, but ... well, why don't we ask her town's library what they think about her. =P - Darren
Hot for a pit bull? - Jim Norris
wow... there are some seriously tough critics on friendfeed... or, maybe im more attracted to milfs now that im a graying dad? - Rob Reed
