This doesn't surprise me. After all, Apple already has a great distribution model. And they have the product delivery channel both online and through their stores. So I wouldn't be surprised if this were true. But it feels more like a rumor as we've seen nothing that would hint at this. But if I were Amazon, I'd ready the IP police as this might warrant a complaint to the DoJ (if true). A case for anti-competitive practices could easily be made.

I would love to see this happen. But I wonder what it would mean to all the co-branding deals that Blu Ray players currently operate with. I guess that there would be a lot of firmware updates.

I don't quite know what to think of this. David has surely turned himself around. And it is great to see him soar - after admitting to his mortality. Most sports figures are callow and disingenuous. But David has shown a remarkable penchant for honesty - and self-examination. I wish him luck.

If you look at the numbers, you'll see that Firefox 3.5 has the largest share of any "version" of browser. If you add IE7+IE8, you'll find that Microsoft's product still has a substantially larger market share. But the continued traction of Firefox remains impressive.

And the wheels are coming off the bus... How many of us thought that great teleprompter readings are what are needed in difficult congressional negotiations? I guess the President and Mr. Gibbs did. Um, our President has NO executive experience and limited legislative experience. Consequently, poise under fire (or aggressive arm-twisting) are beyond his ken.

Yikes. Is Adobe serious? They are going to wait to patch a zero-day vulnerability with known exploits. Who do they think they are? Microsoft?

My daughter will truly enjoy this piece. She is dedicated to the proposition that Christians can make a difference in creating a more renewable world.

So what do you think? Is Lance "Athlete of the Decade" or not? Tiger has proven human. Michael Phelps has won a few meets - and smoked a few doobies. Do we really want (or need) an unsullied hero? To me, Lance is not an unsullied hero. Indeed, it is because of his fragility and his humanity that I really think he IS the athlete of the decade.

Here's an interesting analysis of the various words in the Senate healthcare reform bill. The word "penalty" occurs 163 times. But the word "freedom" occurs only twice.

Like Robert, I'm a former 'Softie. And Scoble is spot on. Google is trying to feed developers. You can tell that from their leveraging of Webkit to their investment in items like Naive Client. But the latest GOOG news about GO may seal the deal. One of the biggest carrots they could pull use would be if they made some massive investments in Eclipse so that it gains further share on Visual Studio. BTW, this note is being typed on my shiny new Chromium VM (under Virtualbox).

The left is not at all satisfied with the Baucus bill. For them, it's not enough. Indeed, many think it strengthens insurance companies - and denies the public option.

If anyone wondered why people supported freedom in Iran, wonder no longer. Those who have usurped the rights of the Iranian people are asserting their absolute control. Yes, we should talk. But we should also be prepared to support those who are fighting for the freedoms that are their birthright.

I am astonished by this. But this is the same group that gave Al Gore and Yasir Arafat the peace prize. But what peace has he brought? To Americas political process? Uh, no. To the Middle East? Are you kidding me? How about for ending the squabbling between his kids over why they got a Portuguese water dog? Maybe that's the reason.

There it is. "Ride as far right as practicable" normally means get in the gutter so cars can push past you. For safety sake, this is a very bad practice. I appreciate that we have to share the road. But shouldn't there be a "x" foot buffer imposed on cars as well. In many states, there is a "3 foot to pass" rule (see http://www.3feet2pass.com/).

Oh good gracious! I hear it now: "I've just joined a new cycling team (RadioShack) - so it's time to pop open a cold one and celebrate. But while I'm on the bike, I don't need that extra weight that comes with a beer gut. So I drink Michelob Ultra!"

I bought my first packet of Via this morning. And I told Noah (and the barista) that this would kill Starbucks brand - if its as good as Starbucks claims. What Starbucks doesn't seem to get is that people come to their stores for the social experience - not just the coffee. These folks won't budge. But the drive-through business could very easily switch to Via. To me, this move smells of fear. They want to drop their prices for the coffee drinkers. At the same time, they want to keep their obscene margin. Might this work? Sure. It will get some folks to swap from the premium line. Yeah, they're trying to keep the "value" customer somehow. But will they succeed? I'll find out when I try it.

For quite some time, my employer allowed access to Twitterr - bia the web interface or via the API. But as of ten days ago, my employer began to block Twitter. That's a shame as there is tremendous value that can be derived form this (and other) social networks. Unilaterally blocking social networks in this decade is analogous to those companies that blocked the web in the mid-nineties. With time, reality will seep back into companies (and fight the content censors that are trying to build "the great firewall of corporate America."

Verizon will support Google Voice on Android. Sprint is supporting Google Voice. Apple/AT&T are the last holdouts. Will Apple be able to peel away AT&T's opposition?

The cross is a symbol of shame and a symbol of triumph. And it is a symbol of this nation's heritage. SCOTUS may decide that it wont' be a symbol for our nation's future. But it will always be a symbol of my past, my present and my future.

So is this dialog in a wave yet? I've seen it in RSS and on blogs. But where is this discussion in a publicly available wave? Without an easy and intuitive search, Wave will never take the place of email or of blogs, micro-blogs or even IBM/Lotus Notes.
