Sad. Reminds of asian women roles. Either they are prostitutes or 'weak'.

Mo: In the U.S., "Arab" is (commonly) used in derogatory contexts and the connotation rings negativity...
- Mona Nomura
Really? I didn't think there's anything wrong with 'Arab'.
- Rodfather
Mona, this is exactly the message of the video. Hollywood (US media) has changed the meaning of Arab. It's now negative like an insult. Same with Muslim and Islam. Same with the Arab culture (food, dress, tradition).

Mo: Definitely. I love the Arabian culture (food especially!!) and I've tried to educate myself as much as possible. Unfortunately, the reality is, most people do no look beyond what is presented to us via Mass Media, and pass judgements... I understand what the video is saying, however depending on the viewer, it may be perceived as mocking of sorts... @Rodfather: Abroad, "Arab" is the 'norm' per se, since the word is not painted in a negative fashion...
- Mona Nomura
Mona, the way I understand it, arab is a racial term, and is used negatively in the media.
- Mo Kargas
They do that to (almost) every one at some point...
- J. Abdul-Qahhar
I've always thought of Arab as another ethnic group. Like Persians, Latinos, etc..
- Rodfather
I see it asjust a name for humans from a particular region of the earth (arabian penninsula)... I don't believe in race since it's just another term that was constructed in order to stop us from calling each other human. The old divide and conquer routine.
