Plurk: deadpool. Jaiku: depends on whether Google really does something with it. Identi.ca: the closest replacement among the bunch with the big plus of being open. Tumblr is a nice mini-blogging platform, but not at all good for conversations. - Logical Extremes
I see many similarities between Jaiku/Pownce - derided by the masses but well liked by a small but loyal and passionate community. I think Google could leave Jaiku alone for another 5 years and existing users would continue to use it. It's better for true (threaded) conversations, has good mobile support and supports groups. - Andy C

Victor if it was as easy to turn off fertility as it is to deny someone the ability to own a car or fish in a body of water then it would probably require a license. As it is, it's way too easy to get pregnant and there aren't good, cheap or mandatory means to prevent it. I look forward to the day when we have enough control over our bodies that it becomes an issue about who gets to turn on fertility instead of how to prevent it. - Lindsay Donaghe
Ha. It's just a diaper. People do far worse things that should negate them from being able to have kids. Besides, as a parent of a child who'd grab a diaper from the basket of the stroller and toss it, I'm unable to make snap judgments on this one. I know that I've caught my boy tossing diapers (dirty and clean) from the bottom of his stroller, but I've also missed some only realizing when another person points out what he's done or I'm lacking diapers to change him with. - Anika Malone
