Well, only on FriendFeed. I'm trying to teach @slj_esq abt RickRolling.
- Rob Sterling
Doesn't work, puts up a screenshot on all the modern Social Media (Ff, Twitter, Cliq, Facebook). If you're looking to rickroll someone, you need to use an oldschool forums.

Cliqset ? Seems like a mix between Tumblr and Friendfeed IMO. I´m only registered there, but I would have been really surprised if *The Second Scoble* had followed me there.

"parents vacation to FL:1 carry-on each. Pups vacation 4 miles from home: 5 bags, 2 beds, 3 rugs, 2 blankies, and a food stand." -- From a friend's facebook post. Take note. If this is how you treat your dogs? If "watching your dogs while you go on vacation" requires more than a bag of dog food, don't even consider asking me to watch your dogs.

- Thom Kennon
@Thom - Was an Iomega product, so it probably counts. (I guess Zip disks, Sony's HiFD format, and the SuperDisk stuff might count, too)...
- Tyson Key
@Tyson - right, thx. Hey --- my guess is you were about -3 when i was loading those huge 8" floppies into the IBM System 6s @ the lettershop in Brooklyn ; >

Heh, I vaguely remember trying to load software from cassettes on a Commodore 64 that we were given over a decade ago, after it was recovered from a skip - in a functional state, no less; for what it's worth. Sadly, I don't have it anymore, and I'm not too sure about the fate of it.

- Matthew DeVries
whoa, you made it appear in both places....but it didn't thread under my CS post.
- Matthew DeVries
There are quite a few bugs with Cliqset. It shouldn't import what it exports (like what FriendFeed already does), for example. In this case, though, I replied to you in Twitter through FriendFeed so Cliqset picked up the tweet which it then treated independently of the Cliqset post that started it all. So, I guess that's normal; FriendFeed does it that way, too.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I'm getting a lot of echoing going on. CS to Twitter and Ff which in turn post to each other then echo back to CS. Someone is going to have to build a "smart" sharing API, that actually looks at the content of the posts and see if they're already there before posting a new one.
- Matthew DeVries
Here's why Cliqset won't take off: no immediately visible follow/follower counts. This is a good thing but it's going to turn off a certain [irritating] contingent of users. You know who you are.
There is something just slightly off about the UI but I haven't figured out what it is. I think it's maybe the 'Comment Like Share View' links. They just kind of float out there. On FriendFeed, they're tucked in a bit and less obtrusive. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing service icons.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Don't make me come over there and script those icons in. *resists*
- Micah Wittman
I never once heard any defense by the Ff jerks about why the service icons were ever removed in the first place, and weren't add backable by option. They just kind of killed it, then ignored every question about it.
- Matthew DeVries
Did someone say "icons" ? It must be in the water. Icons have been my morning
- Melanie Reed
I wouldn't necessarily call them jerks over that, Matthew, but I could've sworn I remember reading Bret or Benjamin talking about service icons being removed either because of page load speed and/or that they felt they were simply unnecessary.
- Akiva Moskovitz
LOL, at least they started the Recommended Users List debate right out the gate. I wonder if people will cut and paste their old arguments verbatim or at least swap out the service names.
- Matthew DeVries
Should we start scooping up the Oprah and Ashton and Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods usernames, lest they be worth money some day? As well as all the single-names, like Steve and Tim and such?

"Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23rd. It was created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a screenwriter for the TV show Seinfeld[1][2] as part of a comical storyline on the show. The holiday's celebration, as shown on Seinfeld, includes an aluminum "Festivus pole", practices such as the "Airing of Grievances" and the "Feats of Strength", and the labeling of easily explainable events as "Festivus miracles"."

The bumping algorithm includes things like novel people posting to it, in addition to thread age, and rapidity of comments. If the same 3 people are talking in a thread, it quits bumping because it's obviously a closed tea party.

I have never before heard of any bad packaging issues from Amazon and now two reports? THAT'S IT. LET'S BURN AMAZON TO THE GROUND WITH THE BURNING FIRE OF FLAMES.
I actually like ebook readers in concept. They just haven't made one that meets my criteria: color, touch screen (for changing pages with a swipe), and non-reformatted material. I want there to be no difference in looking at a page on an ebook reader and looking at a printed copy. I mostly read technical books so I want the charts, code samples, formulae, et al., to be preserved (and in color!).

I'm enjoying the Kindle DX. I like the extra space I get around the house from having less (physical) books. I agree that all the things you mentioned would make the ebook reader even better, and I would prefer not having a physical keyboard at the bottom of my book as well.

Ach! well, I'm going to have some very valuable books soon then. "If I had a nickle for every real page, I'd be a rich woman." lol ;)

Melanie, when holding the book as part of the process, is it stone tablet or papyrus? ;)
- Micah Wittman
Micah, thou art a wit! roflol. Alas, only vellum and some cheap acid-free. The romance of papyrus has eluded my grasp and had I grasped some stone tablet, I might have better upper body strength! ;)

I got my first damaged package from Amazon recently. I took a picture of it and posted it on their packaging feedback page. The box inside the package was damaged as well, but the product was OK (Wii controller)... so no need to return, but it still irritated me.
