Dear @GrammarGirl - I must know, WHY if a sentence ends with a quote or parenthetical prose do you put the terminal punctuation INSIDE the quotation mark or parenthesis? I find that to be the most logically absurd convention in all of English classes.
The .,!, or ? is ending the sentence in which the quote lives, NOT ending the quote. Logic should state that the terminal punctuation should always come last. If you made software like that you'd end up with syntax errors all over the place. - Matthew DeVries
