"Hey Matt, Thanks for your comment - our first on the blog! It's similar to Groupon, but one of the big differences is that the company was started by New Yorkers for New Yorkers. We have group buying in our DNA. Sites like Scoop St. and Groupon (at least, as I see it) are great for all parties involved - consumers end up getting their pick of awesome deals, businesses get to reach a new customer base and the site's get to showcase great content for their audiences. Again, thanks for the comment. Did you have any other suggestion or thoughts?"

Great movie. Bill Murray is great in this, but don't forget to keep your eye on Willem Defoe.

Great movie. Hilarious and serious.
- Bill Romanos
I watched the movie months ago, hated it, couldn't even get all the way through. Funny thing is I usually like Wes Anderson movies, but not this one.
- Dave Winer
I'm with Dave on this one. I've seen it twice and didn't like it both times.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Love this movie. Just the helmet music is enough to make my day. Didn't like it the first time I saw it, mainly because of the superfluous CGI acquatic creatures and Kate Blanchett's ridiculous voice. But it really grew on me upon repeat viewing. Still hate the CGI creatures.

Not in America, buster. You still have 5 more hours! ;) Happy birthday.

"Ambrose thinks that stagnation has caused a neglect in the development of young leaders, saying that “this industry’s thought leaders of tomorrow (I would even argue, today) are under our noses but…many professionals play the game of bureaucratic diplomacy, erring always on the side of caution.” He continues on to say, “The time is ripe for agencies to take risks, investing in young, smart and eager social capital to help drive innovation (and if they are lucky, strategy) for years to come.”" - quoted in a post by Amybeth about young social capital in PR.

"The rising cost of gasoline has become a problem for many people who drive to work every day, or even drive in general, for that matter. Everyone talks about doing something about it, but is it actually having an effect on people? In order to find out, the top fifty public transportation website domains were taken from the “Bus and Train” category, sites such as amtrak.com, greyhound.com, and the ever-popular fungwahbus.com, where you can book a Chinatown bus from Boston to New York for only fifteen dollars. The number of weekly unique visitors (UVs) to these sites were found for the first 27 full weeks of 2008, from January 6th to July 12th, and compared to the average gas price in the United States for each week."

This really should be a wiki. They're missing a ton that I can see. For instance, Intel has a half dozen blog/event feeds, and more than 100 people on Twitter. Check out @pulseofintel's friends for a sample.

hey corpo f#(%s: twitter is fascist. find a better network... this one is dead. why not come to friendfeed and create a dialog?

"Here’s an interesting one, which may at first seem counterintuitive: in this extremely consumerist society – where per capita incomes now average in excess of $37,000, where shopping malls have replaced town squares and where brands like Armani and Gucci are omnipresent – Emiratis, and especially younger and female ones, are increasingly saving their money for a rainy day."

"Americans bought more than $127 billion worth of goods and services in 2007 from huge online retailers such as Amazon, Staples and Dell Computer as well as a host of smaller ones offering everything from dating services (eHarmony) to virtual pets (Marapets). In fact, consumers piled so much into online shopping carts that they spent about 25% more than they did in 2006, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce. But that figure still represents less than four percent of overall U.S. retail sales."

"According to TNS Media Intelligence, traditional media ad spending rose a miniscule 0.6% overall in the first quarter of 2008, with anemic performances from television (1.7% increase), magazines (up 0.8%) and outdoor advertising (a 2.5% gain). Newspaper ad buys were down 5.2% and radio saw ad sales fall by 4.5%. Meanwhile, the Internet, for which TNS included only display ads, leaped ahead 8%, about $2 billion, for the quarter. John Swallen, a senior vice president for research firm TNS, chalked up the offline results to a dour U.S. economy and offered little hope of things looking up in the near future: "Early figures from the second quarter indicate little immediate or sustained improvement in the core ad economy," he said in a statement accompanying the numbers."

"Chances are that as you were growing up your best friend lived in your neighborhood. As you got older and became more mobile (bicycle, car, etc.), you probably found new friends with whom you shared more in common. Maybe your neighborhood friends went to different schools now or, due to a slight age difference, were in different grades. Whatever the reason, it is likely that your closest circle of friends changed and many of them lived much further away (relatively speaking)."

Currently it's coffee, but it changes. Later in the summer it will probalby be iced tea, then probably some type of diet soda after the weather turns to fall. Once winter kicks in I usually drink more hot tea than anything else.

For the past couple months or so, I've been having a large sweetened Zen (green) tea, iced. Before that, it was a small or medium iced white choc mocha (sometimes with an extra shot). When it is cold, I like the gingerbread or pumpkin latte.

Usually DD iced coffee...been drinking green tea more often than not.

Green Tea straight... no sugar... no honey... no lemon... yah, I'm hardcore.

I drink tons of tea, but don't really think of it as being a caffeinated beverage. It's just... tea, you know? They give it to kids in Russia before bed so they sleep better. Otherwise, cappuccino, made right. Which happens just about once a year.
- Alexei Tolkachev
on the weekends, strong black coffee that i make in a cone filter. in the afternoons, a Diet Coke. At work I get a 4-shot latte. @Zach Landes: in L.A. they call that a Red Eye or a Depth Charge. :)
