Page rank is old school media thinking. Even use of the phrase is outdated. It's as useful as the number of babies a candidate kissed. Page rank measures a painfully low-value statistic.

I was actually just thinking about this in the context of iranelections: http://distresssignal.org/2009... what if twitter verified witnesses on the ground instead of clebreties.

Bryan: I think that would raise credibility, but also increase the shame pointed and the mainstream media who aren't able to get people on the street. I'm not sure the Twitter people are able to think that fast or far ahead myself.

Mainstream media need verification more than anyone. The reason why they were so quiet is because they don't want to report rumors. Remember how many false stories got reported in the middle of 9-11, avoiding that in real-time has got to be hard.

Doesn't Googles Sentiment Analysis a step in the right direction? It infers sentiment to rank http://www.seobythesea.com/... and “service,” “value,” and “general comments.” Aspects are defined in one of Google’s papers on sentiment analysis as “properties of an object that can be rated by a user.” Unfortunately, Google is attempting to Patent this process.
