Most routers give you a way to see a list of attached devices, a feature I need to locate some devices with web interfaces on my LAN (like my receiver). Recently I switched to an Airport Extreme, but it doesn't seem to have this ability. Does it? If so how do I access it?
There isn't a single interface that displays attached devices. If you open the Airport utility, Advanced, Logging & SNMP, Logs & Statistics, you'll see a tab that allows you to view attached wireless clients, and then you'll see a tab that allows you to view DHCP clients. Unfortunately, if you're using DHCP reservations for specific devices, you won't see those devices in the 'DHCP Clients' tab. Hope this makes sense. - Paul Grav
Airport Utility > Manual Setup > Advanced > "Logs & Statistics" button > Wireless Clients/DHCP Clients tab - Jamie Wilkinson
Thanks Jamie and Paul. I see the display, it's going to be harder than I'd like cause they don't give the names of the devices, so I have to use trial and error to figure it out. - Dave Winer
Have you tried using AngryIP? - ThePicMan
I just tried AngryIP, looks interesting, but it didn't show me the names of the computers either. - Dave Winer
If you enter a name in the DHCP Client ID box of the Network/TCP/IP pane on each computer, Airport Utility will display the name along with the MAC address. - Toasterman
Dave, that's weird because it does show my names http://twitpic.com/5i7p# - ThePicMan
