Disqus really should do a deal with identi.ca
What kind of deal? - Marina Martin
In what way? Would would it look like? - Aldon Hynes
huh - Victor from twhirl
I mentioned this in passing in my piece, earlier this week, with my identi.ca todo list. The biggest thing about FF are the discussions. You could easily integrate disqus with Identi.ca or Twitter for that matter, to give the same effect and connect back to our blogs. This would end the uncomfortable duality, when some discussion is taking place on the blog and some on FF. They really need to be the same thing. I already use Discqus on my site and I don't want to change. - Dave Winer
I'm still torn between Disqus and Intense Debate... - Glenn Batuyong
I'd be interested to see how they could do a deal that was compatible with the AGPL Laconi.ca licensing and the CC licensing on Identi.ca content. - Ken Sheppardson
I have blogged a similar idea some weeks ago http://webtropic.wordpress.com/2008... - Nikos Anagnostou
i'm moving over to disqus as soon as this happens. As soon as I can fully integrate comments from friendfeed, twitter, plurk etc.. into comments. - Zee.
I discovered disqus through scripting.com the other day, and tried it out myself on my own site. I'm seriously impressed, but I'm holding back from a full implementation as it uses JavaScript. A system like disqus that uses PHP (thereby removing browser dependencies) would be a killer ... I wonder if it's possible? - Brian Heys
Does Disqus provide OPML versions of the comments ? Candidate for OPML inclusion. - Jean-Yves Stervinou
Just as facebook copied FriendFeed (and in a good way). Disqus would be great for twitter (and vice versa), i dont really use any of the other microblogs, the community is on twitter and until it shuts down, i'm on twitter. - Sahil Desai
Disqus is not Free Software (see the Franklin Street Statement, http://autonomo.us/2008...) so that's not going to happen. - Earle Martin
Really -- what if identi.ca does a plug-in API, how would they stop it from happening? They already support the Twitter API, so I'm afraid you've already lost the battle of it's "not going to happen" -- sorry to be the one to deliver the bad news! :-) - Dave Winer
You said "should do a deal with identi.ca". I'm sorry to be the one (that is, identi.ca employee) that points out that we don't do "deals" with unfree services. What other people do with our API is up to them, but you certainly won't see any integration at this end. - Earle Martin
what advantage does intense debate have over disqus? - Greg Bond from twhirl
