Linking knowledge on- and offline - social reporting on the OpenStreetMap conference - http://www.web2fordev.net/compone...
Conferences are helpful events where people come together to exchange their expertise and experience and expand their networks. Most conferences focus more on communicating the speakers’ experience rather than enabling participants to proactively interact. Social reporting “is an emerging role, set of skills and philosophy around how to mix journalism, facilitation and social media to help people develop conversations and stories for collaboration.” I took advantage of my attendance in the annual conference of OpenStreetMap which took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on July 10th - 12th, 2009 to play the role of social reporter. - David Wilcox

"Streams of Content, Limited Attention: The Flow of Information through Social Media" - http://www.danah.org/papers...
For the longest time, we have focused on sites of information as a destination, of accessing information as a process, of producing information as a task. What happens when all of this changes? While things are certainly clunky at best, this is the promise land of the technologies we're creating. This is all happening because of how our information society is changing. But before we talk more about flow, we need to step back and talks about shifts in the media landscape. - David Wilcox
