Conferences are helpful events where people come together to exchange their expertise and experience and expand their networks. Most conferences focus more on communicating the speakers’ experience rather than enabling participants to proactively interact. Social reporting “is an emerging role, set of skills and philosophy around how to mix journalism, facilitation and social media to help people develop conversations and stories for collaboration.” I took advantage of my attendance in the annual conference of OpenStreetMap which took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on July 10th - 12th, 2009 to play the role of social reporter.
