I like having each service as an individual contact. Much easier. Can we see the same for Pownce?
- Chris Nixon
Well, IMified has taken bot to a next level.. I even created a customized option to check my google calendar appointments for today (a quick schedule for today) by interacting with bot! Not sure, if they have one for Pownce..

One year later. Just bumping this because it's the one year anniversary of the only item on FriendFeed to get more than 400 likes. (452 at the moment)
- Ken Sheppardson
I agree with Paul very interesting snapshot of the FF community while showcasing the power of the new search app.
- Keith - @tsudo
I especially liked that you did links to originals. Makes it easy to share as explained
- MaryAnn Chick Whiteside
Thanks mcw, tsudohnimh and Paul. I didn't pretty up the post with screen captures. I felt the original links themselves could tell the story.
- Louis Gray
'So yes, FriendFeed loves Scoble, tolerates me, and loves babies' - Classic :)
- Charlie Anzman
This is so funny - the very time I ever commented on an LG item was on July 9th, 2008!
- Mona Nomura
Just so you know, that conversation in Italian was NOT about a cat. It was a mother's story about the abusive treatment her 4 yr old autistic child received from a professional photographer.
- April
Liked for multiple mentions of Akiva's baby. :P

Louis: the smartest people work in building 43. At least that's my experience.
- Robert Scoble
reminds me of times at SPAWAR in San Diego... "Stay away from the mysterious 'Building 7', they keep aliens in there"... Only building on site with armed guards at the ready 24/7 and my SSBI didn't grant me access... I've probably said too much. *waits for white van to come pick me up*
- Enrique Gutierrez
Robert: you just haven't been through enough of the buildings. They're crowded with smart: bldg. 43 is just taller. :)
- richard
richard: I've been through all the buildings. Heheh. Enrique: they play that trick on newbies at Microsoft too. There is no building 7, if I remember right.
- Robert Scoble
When I first visited Google, back when I was a Microsoft employee, I thought it was funny that they stored their "Master Plan" in building 43.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, that explains why I've never worked there, then!
- Louis Gray
Answer to everything++ =43. May be that is the reason
- Varun Mahajan
Varun: I thought the answer to everything was 42. There are smart people in that building too, like Scott Guthrie.
- Robert Scoble
I have a story: 45 months ago, I was the second person to comment on Steve Jurvetson's Master Plan photo (linked above). I admired the plan and the company so much that I spent the next 25 months trying to get there and have been working in building 43 for the past 23 months.
- no name
Bill: that's cool. Any good stories of working in that building?
- Robert Scoble
Are there any other "building 43's" at other companies? It's weird that both Microsoft and Google have them. I always wondered if it were pure coincidence that Microsoft and Google had building 43 and both had so many smart people working in them.
- Robert Scoble
Hmmm. I worked in Microsoft building 44. Watched 41 and 42 get built, then moved into 41, which is close to 43. This was back in '98ish. Think it was mostly occupied by devtools back then.
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I used to work in Building 51 at Liberty International Airport (EWR)...does that count? That was the historic old Building #1 that they moved & restored, containing the first control tower in N. America. You really don't want to know what that building was like before the restoration. http://www.pbworld.com/project...
- April
42 is the answer to the universe (Hitchhikers Guide) and 47 is the inside joke of genre writers (star trek, stargate, jj abrams etc use it all throughout their scripts/episodes)
- Chris Saad
I worked next to the XBox guys, near MSN. That made me feel special. I forget the building. It was on 118th st.
- anna sauce
43 has nothing in it :) 42/41/40 are the buildings i think you're chasing Scoble as that's where the Expression/Silverlight teams are
- Scott Barnes
Actually, SGI numbered the "Google" buildings 40-43 when they built the campus. When Google moved in, they never bothered to re-number the buildings. So the real question is: Why did SGI number the buildings so similarly to Microsoft?
- no name
Scott: hmmm, back when I was there 43 had lots of smart people in it. So it's empty now? Interesting.
- Robert Scoble
at the naval research lab, bldg 43 is where the government beams mind control waves into people's heads. http://wikimapia.org/1456827... unless of course you put your head in a faraday cage. then we can't control you. but you're not supposed to know that.
- Karim
Actually just looked, 43 is where the Windows folks reside and a few VP's
- Scott Barnes
Scott: is that where the kernel team still works? That's why 43 stuck out in my mind.
- Robert Scoble
Some of the windows server and home server teams are in 43
- Alan Cheslow
hard to say, i see loads of SDE's / Program Managers for different flavour of windows there so highly likely..we've moved a lot of offices around on campus lately so too hard to say for sure
- Scott Barnes
26 is where they bury people who talk about 26 :-)
- Alan Cheslow
Alan: heheh. Sinofsky still threatening death for anyone who talks about building 26?
- Robert Scoble
All i know is people walk into Building 26 and are never seen again.. you may see orange little umpa lumpas in the windows sometimes..but...
- Scott Barnes
Robert, not sure but I could look him up and ask him to contact you if you want?
- Alan Cheslow
Jess: yeah, I've had a tour of much of building 43, agree. Nice photos!
- Robert Scoble
Surely Google should have called it 'building 42.' These guy's cannot be true geeks!
- Jim Connolly
Jim: Google has a building 42 too. CEO Eric Schmidt sits in that one.
- Robert Scoble
"To build muscle & lose fat, 90% of your diet must consist of whole unprocessed foods. That’s anything that doesn’t come out of a box like meats, veggies, eggs, fruits, etc. Eating 6 meals/day leaves room for 4 junk meals per week. You’re already doing that but not getting results? Maybe you’re not eating that healthy. Here are 10 foods you might think are healthy because they’re labeled as such, but which in reality are anything but healthy."
- Rah-PM 2012
Nice article, thanks for linking it.
- David Wilson
*worries* well, at least I've started eating a lot more fresh fruit and vegetables on my healthier diet. I still will have some bread, though.
- Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
Also, there are some inaccuracies in this post. As one commenter pointed out, true 100% juice does not have added sugar. Take this thing with a grain of salt.
- Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
Yeah, I noticed that one too, but I think he is referring to what it says on the packaging rather than what it actually is. Kroger sells Whole Grain bread for about a buck a loaf. If you compare it to the more expensive competition, it's just not the same thing. You have to read the fine-print :)
- Rah-PM 2012
Bottom line is cut out the processed food and you will see results in whatever you are trying to accomplish.
- Adam Martin
This has inspired me to get my own sandwich materials for lunch today - I need to kick that fast-food crutch.
- Jennifer Dittrich
Problem with the article is that not all granola bars are created equal, just as not all frozen meals are equal. Frozen meals from Trader Joe's or Wholefoods are MUCH MUCH better for you than those from traditional supermarkets.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
Cereals aren't all evil, but it is hard to find good ones, it takes lots of label analysis. I stick to whole-grain wheat or oats with the bran and not much else added. And a heaping dose of fresh fruit mixed in.
- Tinfoil 2.0
I like the alternatives. Make your own.
- @CrystalinaB
"To build muscle & lose fat, 90% of your diet must consist of whole unprocessed foods"? I have to doubt this premise. I've known body builder that swear by protein shakes. People do lose weight on those pre-packaged diet food plans. Building muscle requires resistance training and protein intake, but I see no evidence that the protein must come from unprocessed foods.
- Robert Hafer
This is a misleading article IMO...some of these foods are actually perfectly healthy, but just carry caveats on their consumption.
- Zach Landes
Sigh - you can eat anything you want as long as it's in moderation. Track what you eat, eat below your BMR and you'll lose weight - simple as that. I tried every "fad" diet on the block and all failed. I went with being smart, tracking what I eat and exercise. This has helped me drop 30lbs in 4 months.
- Vince DeGeorge
Unfortunately, the human body is not so simple as "calories in, calories out." How else to explain the overweight police officers in one study who consumed only 1800 kcal a day but still gained weight? It wasn't the calories - it was the donuts.
- Zach Landes
Reminds me of Bjork's Human Behavior video.
- Fee501st
I'll give anyone a dollar who takes one of these camping.
- midnightgolfer
This reminds me of being visited by bears at Yosemite when they were sniffing inside our sleeping bags with us squished down in the bottom of them. I might be concerned how an amorous bear might react.

In Seattle I like to eat near the water.....or Bay

Nice, that is quite the view. If you are ever in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic , you can get a great view as well. No glass, and no AC., but a graet view

Roberto Bonini: From your iPhone pictures on smugmug it looks like you're already geocoding, so you could do the maps too pretty easily: http://ourdoings.com/ourdoin... (no guarantees you'll get as much attention as Scobleizer :-)

Damn, NIN is going into hibernation for a while. I bet Trent is going to work on some other projects in the meantime. I look forward to whatever he decides to pursue following the 'goodbye' tour.

Oh, btw, the Cowon D2 I've been waiting for? Arrived right before I went to lunch. Awesome little player, with the exception of not having a last.fm plug-in.
Nope. Never really use playlists. I just load up my songs and podcasts and go.

I have the Cowon A5, 60GB player. Love how it does OGG and FLAC. Clunky interface but meh.
- Josh Haley
Yeah, I'm just biding my time before RockBox puts out a D2 upgrade. :)
- Steven Perez

OK, cool. I'd buy one, but I already have my Nintendo DS and it works just fine for now. I've looked at the D2 before as it reportedly has one of the best headphone amps available for any MP3 player.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
YES. Just about blew out my eardrums, even with the crappy headphones that came with it.
- Steven Perez
from IM
I've been using a Cowon D2 for over a year now (only to be supplanted by my Blackberry Bold). The best MP3 player-only device on the market if you ask me. Great format support, excellent battery life. As mentioned before, the UI sucks, but the benefits far outweigh the UI drawbacks.

Finally a Lambo with a decent wife acceptance factor.

How fast can you walk with the Countache shoes?
- Jeffrey J Davis
Those shoes would make my butt look aweso.... err wait, what? *ninja vanish*
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
Reminds me of some shoes I designed a couple years ago. Similar in that they were influenced by the lines of cars, but mine were way less ugly. (The car thing was way less 'in your face' from a design perspective)
- Anthony Citrano
Several Air Jordans have been inspired by cars - a Ferrari F355 (AJ14) and a Bentley Continental GT (AJ21) are the two I can remember off the top of my head.

i have to give him serious props for putting his body through this. it's not healthy to lose and then regain 60 pounds in so short a time span. i can respect that kind of professional commitment. i guess this puts his notorious tirade against the lighting guy into a different perspective.
- .LAG liked that
It must play havoc with his pysche to loose and then gain so much weight
- Richard Arblaster
I agree with Richard. That kind of diet's bound to make him cuss a lot..
- Mike Lewis
@lindsey: perhaps his tirade was 'in character' of the role he's playing on the terminator movie. maybe he doesn't know how to shut it off until the production wraps.
- .LAG liked that
I still maintain my stance. He IS an fantastic actor he IS very dedicated. That still doesn't give him license to be an abusive ass. Being "in character" isn't a viable excuse either, if he can't separate reality from fantasy then he should be medicated.
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
He was interviewed on a radio station here. I got to hear his explanation of the "blow up". He said it was a bit of him, Christian Bale, and a bit of his character, John Connor. So @LAG, you are pretty much right on with what he said.

- Allen Stern
You mean that's not what you're supposed to be doing on Twitter?
- Rex Hammock
I get that all the time as well. It's like we're back in 2001 when the uninitiated thought a blog meant the daily ramblings of angsty teenagers.
- Dylan Parker
@John - it's decriminalized variously in a dozen states or so, but there's still federal law to contend with.
- Anthony Citrano
I am glad they dropped him. Pot may be no worse on a person than alcohol and cigarettes but it's still illegal.
- Becca
was only ever made illegal cos of cotton.... and that is irrelevant now.
- Rob Sellen :o)
@Becca - sorry, but I despise that uncritical way of thinking. It is why this good country has the serious problems that it does. Voting as a black person or a woman was illegal once, too - does that mean it was wrong? Is illegality the end of the conversation when it comes to what's right and what's wrong? How intellectually stultifying.
- Anthony Citrano
well, no more fruitloops for me I suppose. Not so bad because sugar cereal probably isn't the best thing for you. At least this leaves more room in the mornings for bacon though.
- Thomas Hawk
@Anthony I think your example just backs up my own point. I don't know that voting was illegal but certain people were definitely not allowed to do so. The laws changed and now more people have that right. Just because you don't agree with a law doesn't mean you have the right to break it. Work on changing the law instead of breaking it if that's what you think is right.
- Becca
sure I should be decriminalized, but the golden boy got kissed by the fate, many careers got flushed down the toilet for the same, money talks
- Dobromir Hadzhiev
@Chris I have no idea. I am so far removed from politics I wouldn't have a clue as to where to start. But, I do agree with legalization.
- Becca
my point exactly, he's very lucky to be able to keep his career barely untouched... unlike many others
- Dobromir Hadzhiev
@Becca - I sure am glad that people like Martin Luther King, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Harriet Tubman, Gandhi, and our Founding Fathers weren't taking your advice about not breaking "the law", in all its glorious and divine perfection.
- Anthony Citrano
Really, Joel?? The drug war in this country is an assault on civil liberties that has destroyed millions of lives - most of them poor and black. Many of these laws are modern day "black codes." So, I don't think it's an idiotic comparison at all, nor do many of the civil rights leaders with whom I have talked about this very issue. (Do agree with your angle on the contract though - a deal is a deal, however stupid it may be.) Please see my article from today on this, which goes much further.
- Anthony Citrano
just seems sort of hypocritical that they'd stand by him when he was convicted of drunk driving which is in fact very dangerous and could kill somebody, but need to seem to make a point of dropping him for marijuana use at a party which is arguably far, far, less dangerous.
- Thomas Hawk
Maybe they warned him not to get in any more trouble. There might be more going on behind the scenes than we know. Likely that there is for legal reasons.
-
Maybe this is all economic -- Kellog's (and Subway it seems as well?) just need a way out of paying -- and have their excuse to terminate the contract?
- Brian Sullivan
I agree, Brian - so many threads on this that I'm losing track of what I said where, but I think it's about money and courage (or the lack thereof).
- Anthony Citrano
Didn't Kellogg drop the whole Olympic sponsorship and not just Phelps? Seems like a swim-goat to me.
- Nancy Babyak
well, wait, do they make capt. crunch? cuz I can't NOT have capt. crunch when i'm getting high. JK
- BEX
Make marijuana legal first. As long as that law is in place, I don't blame Kellogg's for being cautious.
- Morton Fox
Nancy, whatever the reason Kelloggs dropped him *how* they did it by mentioning the incident as the reason was a statement. They stood by him when he was arrested for a DUI but not when he took a bong hit something arguably far less harmful to himself and society. They could have dropped him quietly or said they were dropping all Olympic sponsorship but they used their soapbox to make a statement about marijuana usage instead.
- Thomas Hawk
good for subway. Their $5 subs are a good deal in a bad economy. I don't buy my lunch much these days but if I need to I know where I'll go next.
- Thomas Hawk
Heh, did he only appear in their US commercials? I can't say I've ever seen him in the UK ones.
- Tyson Key
The federal laws are those that need to be rescinded. Many states' marijuana laws are already pretty liberal. The states should have a right to choose, the feds need to keep out of it.
- coldbrew

- Billy Warhol
@Morton, in re: "laws in place," isn't DUI illegal? They didn't seem too "cautious" in that regard. @Chris: Kellogg's been getting hammered on this for a couple days now. I also heard last night that the company was now saying that the marijuana incident was merely coincident and had nothing to do with his non-renewal.. Could they be that silly? I haven't bothered to look.
- Anthony Citrano
interestingly, subway apparently yanked every reference to phelps from their website, even though they said they support him.
- Richard Lawler
Hahahah....my SO is a complete and utter geek and I'm a dork. We both love this web comic. So when he changed out FB status, he posted this and then changed it to complicated....Like I said, we're geek/dorks.
