seriously?! the office ribbon / menubar approach is such a horrible UI design. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's better. I really hope firefox offers this as an optional feature. I think firefox should move to incorporate ubiquity as it's primary ui, if it's looking to update it's look and feel.

Seriously how did they figure this out? What in the world possessed them to inject Blue M&M dye into a rat? Were they just bored one day? Stoned? Did they pick this experiment out of a hat? Did the lab tech that did the injecting tell the other who was looking on, "What part of this experiment isn't totally awesome!?" "I'm telling you Jim, this is the only way we will realize our dream of creating a mutant smurf army, who knows only anger, and is fueled by the spilled blood of our enemies!!!"

1. Have iPhone 2.2 software. 2. Be in a city that supports transit times (I'm in Portland, no idea what other cities work). 3. Get directions from one place to another. 4. Click the "Bus" icon to get transit directions. 5. Touch "Start", and when you get to a point in the route where you get on transit, click the info icon to get more detail on schedule/arrival times.
- Josh Bancroft
In short, get transit directions, then look for the little clock icon, which indicates schedule info. Touch it. I wonder what other cities work?

Well then by their logic, since a terrorist has access to a cell phone, then cell phones should probably be marked as a potential tool for terrorists. Also if they have access to paper and and a pen, then theoretically they could write a message, fold it up into a paper airplane and send secret messages, to each other, so we should probably stop using paper and pens also.

A smart way to browse and locate Flickr images on large map of the world. Filter photos by selecting a specific tag or searching for your buddy's user name. All navigation is done without any page refresh. An app that may save your boring afternoons.

I lived in Cottonwood Arizona, 100 miles north of phoenix, for 10 years. We pretty much stayed nocturnal during the summer time. You should have been there in 1994 when the temp was around 125 degrees.

Might be a better alternative than the iPhone app for some folks, then. Great tip!

Have you tried the WPhone Plugin for wordpress yet? http://wphoneplugin.org/screens... . It's not a Native app but it makes the worpress admin very iPhone accessible. I wonder if it could be used in conjunction with the bookmarklet ?
- Jamie Allison
Jamie, I have used the WPhone plugin, and it is, indeed, pretty useful. I don't think it would work with the new 2.6 "Press This" bookmarklet, since it depends on displaying the regular Admin interface (which WPhone modifies). But even with WPhone, I don't know of an easy way to add photos and video code to a post, besides this bookmarklet. But it's definitely another arrow in the arsenal! :-)

I can just see the band now: a thirty-something boy band, with permanent 5 o'clock shadows and ponytails, one of the members has a clubbed foot, He's the sensitive one. And One of them has a third nipple, cause you know, he's from the streets, He's seen it all.

Nope. I don't miss it. I don't miss having to mess around in a file manager, or a process manager, or lots of other housekeeping/administration crap.
- Josh Bancroft
I have to disagree, Josh. One of the reasons I won't be blogging much from the iPhone is the inability to copy URLs.

from twhirl
I would love to have copy and paste when trying to include web urls in my tweets
- Jamie Allison
from twhirl
Matt - that's totally understandable. The reason I won't be blogging much from the iPhone is that the small screen/keyboard sucks for entering large amounts of text. The missing ability to copy/paste a URL is kind of secondary for me.
- Josh Bancroft
I categorize full blown blogging as a "want", not a "need"
- Bwana ☠
Jamie - have you checked out Twitterrific on the iPhone? It has a quite clever way of getting a URL into a tweet - a Safari bookmarklet that the App shows you how to install, to let you "Send this link to Twitterrific". You go to the page in Safari, hit that bookmarklet, and it opens Twitterrific to a new tweet, with the URL you were at already in the tweet field. Not quite copy and paste, but still very slick, and very handy when you need it.
- Josh Bancroft
It's not a need, but then again neither is 99% of the stuff that I bought the iphone for. I'd love to be able to send links, add links in my WP blog updates that I do from the phone, etc.
- Morgan
Josh - Thanks for the info on Twitterrific, I didn't realize it could do that. Going to download it now and try it out.
- Jamie Allison
I realize people's needs (and wants) are different. I've just never used copy/paste on all the smartphones I've owned. (Treo, Blackberry, Nokia E61) I don't need nor miss it at all.
- Bwana ☠
Yep, it's needed. I had it on my Treo and used it a lot. I thought I'd be okay without it but I've noticed many frustrating situations where I remember I'm C/P-less. I hope it comes soon.
