Wow. You can honestly make more than $10/hr working at Sheetz (a gas station/food service place in the PA area). I just can't imagine trying to support a family on the east coast with that kind of pay. You'd have to work 80-90 hours each week to even try. Still, when talking about freelance writing, shouldn't you get paid a flat rate per piece rather than an hourly wage?

If I retire at 66, based on my current salary (frozen for 3 years TYVM) I'll get the equivalent of $10/hr in pension+socsec+widow's pension. And have to pay for medicare and medigap out of that. And, you know, live.
