man. This real time thing seals it. I shall use this FF room for MacWorld keynote updates! Tomorrow! - Jason Kaneshiro
i can even comment from venturebeat. awesome - MG Siegler
Yah, this is what this embed feature was designed for. Looking forward to using it! (Haven't used the embedded version for a month or so) - Bret Taylor
i predict a lot of other sites start using this functionality to live blog event. all i ask is that you remember who did it first :) - MG Siegler
Q: are you folks planning to post photographs of the keynote, here, too? - Jason Kaneshiro
jason - yeah dean is bringing his camera and such. i'm going to coordinate how to get them up the fastest but yes, i'd like to post them right here - MG Siegler
Well I haven't known Summize to lie... - MG Siegler
So my take is that it would help the community at large to be vocal about it if it does happen and those who do break it should be noted. It's also likely, at times, that people making the news give different embargo times to different folks. (Not necessarily in this case) - Louis Gray
I agree Louis. When I complain behind the scenes I get apologies but history repeats itself over and over. I don't care if a company wants to give someone else an exclusive - just don't lie to me about it. - MG Siegler
MG Siegler: do you know what Mike Arrington does? He doesn't run the story if anyone goes out before him. He doesn't care if everyone goes out at the same time, but he penalizes PR people if they let someone else go first. So, usually now they make sure Mike goes out first. Mike is an awesome strategist this way. If you want to play this game, you've gotta figure out how to get the PR people to play ball with you. I hate the game, by the way. I don't even care anymore. - Robert Scoble
I have heard something along those lines Robert. The few times I've been burned I wouldn't fault the blogger, I fault the company and/or PR person. I may not have nearly Mike's clout, but I'm still relatively young and plan on doing this for a long time - and I don't forget those who have burned me ;) - MG Siegler
yep, it's quite annoying when you're on the receiving end. it happened 3 times in one day once on stories i worked on. - Dean Takahashi
MG Siegler: yeah, sometimes the PR person is trying to play favorites. Or, they don't trust you, so tell you a time after, say, Arrington gets to go out. Or, look at how Apple deals. Only Mossberg and Levy and two others got iPhones. Everyone else was told to pound sand. Yet we all kissed Apple's behind anyway. - Robert Scoble
Robert - that's true about Apple. As for PR people, don't think I've given them a reason not to trust me and if I have to "earn" their trust or they are playing favorites, DO NOT WANT. - MG Siegler
Dean, MG, Robert, et al, I need to take a mea culpa on the Mochi news. I'm newly back from paternity leave with twins and am working on almost no sleep. I mistakenly offered Erick the news without communicating with the team about the other briefings lined up and or any embragoes in place. No excuses, just poor execution on my part. We have a great system in place to avoid these situations and I didn't do my part, it won't happen again. Sorry for the mix up. - Jason Throckmorton
Jason, I'm afraid I still don't understand. Why would you go and offer the news without consulting anyone, in the first place? It doesn't add up. - Eric Eldon
