"It's amazing the ability we have to impact when we have the ability to connect. I think that is the whole innovation of "Social Media" in todays world is the possibility of connection. The overwhelming thought is the maintenance. But with really great tools out, like Digsby, it makes working in these complex spaces really easy. Now if they could implement Skype I would a happy camper. :)"

"Larry, I'm so happy that you're starting to implement a system for blogging that works for you. I doing activities in 10 minutes and looking at how the 10 minutes can be used effectively. One of the things I've found that works well is writing down the tasks that I wanted to accomplish. A mini "goals" list. Then once you have those goals ... you prioritize what you focus on for the day. Then when you want to incorporate more tasks, you just add another 10 minutes. That way you work a lot more effective and focused. Of course ... I need to implement a better 10 minutes as well. :)"

There is also an extensive discussion and description about the meanings behind both of these tests. A great online resource.

This is a great application that makes the flood that is Twitter much easier to manage. The ability to group people and let those alerts ping you is fantastic. Plus with the new enhancements to allow Facebook tracking makes this a very powerful tool. BIG COMPLAINT: being built in the Adobe Air system means that you will experience Memory Leaks and this application can crash your system. If you only have a handful of people that you are following (under 200) then you might not see the problem, but when you get near the 1000 mark you will see a significant performance hit. This is not a problem with TweetDeck, but with the Adobe Air system. If Adobe could get their act together then great developers making great systems could actually have products that excel instead of getting blame that is not theirs to take.

With most Microsoft products the later versions get a little more refined and work better. Live One Care is no exception to this rule. The first version 1.0 took up WAY too many resources and didn't run in the background nearly as nice. 2.0 has improved drastically on this. There is a very low footprint in the background process. However, when the "weekly" maintenance runs I tend to have to ignore my computer during those moments. Though they tend to be quick, I do have to watch my monitor to make sure things are working the best they can. I also have a slight problem with the booting up of my machine and One Care. It appears that with a lot of system resources being utilized (ie. databsaes, development environments, etc) it always sees an error. Eventually the systems normalizes and it goes back to a green status, but it can be a little nerve wracking when you see it. All in all a good program with very little footprint into your life.

Air is a neat idea, but has a little problems in execution. I like the fact that it is a "cross-platform" but like most "cross-platform" systems there are problems that arise. Air's main problem comes with the memory leaks that are inherent in Flash/Shockwave. Keepin an application open all day will most surely drain your system resources. Minimizing and maximizing will help a little and clear out some of the memory, but the leak will still remain. Plus the non-uniformity of UI standards makes a lot of Air applications frustrating to work with on a daily basis. Since there are no "standard control" suites that developers conform to in the Air arena each application gets it's own look and feel, which can be extremely difficult for novice users to navigate. It is extremely simple to create an Air application and have it out to market ... which is nice. But some of the limitations of the deployment system and development systems should be looked at before choosing if it is the best...

I have really started to like using mesh to share documents across multiple machines. Not only is the multiple machines a neat little feature, but the included "Remote Desktop" application is pretty hip as well. As long as the Machine is in your "networked devices" you have the ability to Remote Desktop and fix files through applications on other machines. I'm still anxious for the Mobile Device support. You can reach http://www.mesh.com from a mobile device and pull down the documents, but not "sync" them with the servers. It's still in beta, but a really great start. And with 5.1 Gigs of storage you can put a heck of a lot of word docs in there. Plus I love the fact you can share folders with friends and restrict roles for the people that you share information. A great little service!! And with minimal GUI presence it makes the whole experience feel like an integration than an application. Cool App.

I started using Fireworks when Macromedia first introduced it to the world. It has always been a great tool to do quick images for the internet. Definately not as powerful as Photoshop, but for simple down and dirty images ... it's great.
