I never know which reason to pick. I try to give the thumbs down to all the ads about losing weight, which, clearly, are targeted at me because I happen to be female. Irrelevant? Yes. Offensive? Yes. Uninteresting? Yes. Repetitive? Yes.
- Laura Norvig
I had to think about it. I basically treat most facebook ads the same as I do TV ads. I ignore them. I don't use ad blockers though.
- Ian May
- Christian Van Der Henst
- Christian Van Der Henst
jajaja "es para doña rosa"... yo no sabía que era un sitio de argentina! hoy me lo recomendaron y ya estuve creando mi perfil. Entré al Clarín hace un rato y recién me enteré que era de acá. Felicitaciones! un saludo

I am loving these pix and the related sets. I was trying to figure out who the photographers (and makeup artists) are, but there's zero credit given in the articles. Are they just stolen from around the web? In a couple of them, the photographers' byline is even cloned out. Great photos, but that's really not cool.
- Anthony Citrano
Nono none of the photographers are named anywhere in any of the articles. Also on the site there are similar spreads with stolen images. I see the original images you're pointing to, but am seeing no photographer credit. The web page imprinted on the images is just a network provider in Singapore.
- Anthony Citrano
Anthony: i try to find the source of this pictures.
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
Linkinn has so many excellent photo but unfortunately the source of these photos are not clear. anyway i like this website and enjoy too much with their pictures.
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
Patty, i think your information is correct. this picture is for Blue Ridge Parkway in California. thank you for information.☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
Mark, what's happen today. many people make mistake between fall and fail. ♥☺☺☺♥
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
Mahdi - the Blue Ridge Parkway is in the Eastern US - in North Carolina and Virginia - not on the west coast in California. It basicly connects the Shenandoah National Park with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Absolutely gorgeous mountains through the whole area
- Patty Hankins
just like the showing of many likes, you could have the same functionality for identical status updates to Twitter, Plurk, Identi.ca, Rejaw, Brightkite, Pownce, Jaiku, etc. via multi-updating services like Ping.fm, Hellotxt, and updating.me
- Nathan Chase
Nice idea, but it wouldn't make any sense for FriendFeed to do this. Imagine you're subscribed to all these services and tried to send a message to all of them. It would just create duplication-spam and annoy all of your followers. It's bad PR. FriendFeed is a a collector of feeds, nothing more.
- Vincent van Wylick
@Vincent - well that's the idea is to eliminate the duplication spam and annoyance - people are going to want to push updates to multiple services for various reasons, and this idea is so that FriendFeed handles it elegantly in a way that doesn't fill a user's FriendFeed feed with duplicates. We want to avoid scenarios like: http://friendfeed.com/e...
- Nathan Chase
also, it could default to the first service posted, not necessarily FriendFeed - so it might read "posted a message on Twitter (and 3 other services)" - FriendFeed already consolidates multiple posts to a single service, why would it be "bad PR" to do it for multiple services?
- Nathan Chase
I've had to purposely avoid using multiple status update services because this functionality doesn't exist. If this existed, I wouldn't be concerned about unintentionally spamming friends with duplicates on my FriendFeed feed anymore.
- Nathan Chase
another thought is you could have a user-selectable "default" status service in the Account settings, while the others fall under the "(also on X other services)", that way the user has control over which service is displayed on their FriendFeed feed
- Nathan Chase
@NathanChase I agree with you, the first service. I mean - look at your feeds, people. How many services & feeds do you have listed? Chances are someone thinks you're spammy (though should I feel happy I have multiple people following in multiple places at the same time?). However, if all the services allow you to link other services, it should be one nice fluid movement. If they would only all work together.
- JCLeftie
FriendFeed should have nothing to do with actually trying to figure out what the user meant to do. If you don't want to spam friendfeed, don't add multiple services of the same type that you plan to duplicate content on. What is the point of doing that in the first place?
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
@Rasheen, because you have different friends on different services, but you'd like all of them to see your updates
- Nathan Chase
Nathan, your argument is very wordy, but the answer is simple: it's not FriendFeed's job (and you have 3rd party services that do it perfectly well).
- Vincent van Wylick
Nathan, you still haven't answered the question. Why would you pipe it all into FriendFeed if you already know it's going to result in duplicates? It's up to the user to use the tools efficiently. If FriendFeed fixes your dups, what else should be their responsibility? (not trying to be antagonistic, but I don't understand why people think this is an FF issue)
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
because FriendFeed shows your activity on various services. For example, I might post my location using Brightkite, and then later use Ping.fm to post a status update to Twitter, FriendFeed, Plurk, & Brightkite simultaneously. This has the unfortunate side effect of broadcasting the exact same update 4 times in a row on FriendFeed, where elsewhere they only see the single post.
- Nathan Chase
@Rasheen - This is a Friendfeed issue because it makes Friendfeed less useful to have 3 identical messages in a row. People may want to add multiple services so that their FF friends can find them on other services they both may have in common. That doesn't mean people want to read their messages multiple times.
- Andrew
socialthing does this and it works pretty well. Some sites like plurk don't have a proper api so it's harder to remove the duplication.
- Charles
This is and will continue to be a Friendfeed issue unless it's does get addressed in one way or another.
- Tsega Dinka
FriendFeed is to provide a feed of all services you put into it. If you put services into it that you know are duplicates and you don't really want output from those services in your feed, you are setting yourself up for failure and it's your own fault. FriendFeed is not where you dump all your accounts so that people can find you on individual services. There are other sites that do this. Have you guys ever heard of GIGO? Use the right tools for the job you're trying to do.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
@Rahsheen, but that's just it - often times it won't be duplicates... there are plenty of times when you might respond on a single service to a friend - which will show up on your FriendFeed - but then other times, you're posting to multiple services... as i said before, FriendFeed already takes care of multiple posts by saying something like "X posted X messages on Twitter" whenever you have more than one post to a service - Is it that much of a stretch to apply that to multiple services?
- Nathan Chase
@Rahsheen - Why is Friendfeed not for dumping all your sites so people can find you or keep up with you? If that's the job we're trying to do and Friendfeed is clearly setup to do this job, we have the right tool. Don't box us in, man!
- Andrew
I feel your pain, but I still don't think I want FriendFeed to be in charge of deciding which of my updates should be merged together. I use several different micro-blogging services. I manage to make things work with a minimum of dups. Sometimes you have to really think about how you're using these services. Are you really that active on ALL of them? Is it really necessary to use Ping.fm that often? If your subscribers would be upset about seeing this update more than once, was it really that important?
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Don't mean to argue, I just don't think it's FriendFeed's burden to filter my feed. I also don't think I want them to touch my feed except to bundle multiple messages from the same service as that still gives the viewer the option to view my feed the way I put it together. Maybe they add the feature, but I hope they don't bother.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I agree that duping posts across a lot of services is pointless. But some people love it. It's their right. I think it would be good for Friendfeed to address this obvious issue. Expecting each individual to come to this same realization seems overly idealistic to me.
- Andrew
@Rah I just have one thought. You have if I recollect accurately struggled with this problem and come up with your own solutions. I think it would be great if you gave Nathan some tips possibly even a video of your tricks and tips.. PS. You know I love you but you are being argumentative. ;)
- Roger Kondrat
Perhaps I can say it a different way: I have different friends on different services, and I share that activity on multiple services here on FriendFeed. I use Ping.fm so that I can reach them with a message I think would be important to all. FriendFeed reflects this in a way I think is inefficiently consolidated for clarity. It's just a cleaner way of showing my web activity - that's all I'm searching for.
- Nathan Chase
“One more suggestion for FriendFeed - tagging. I want to be able to tag individuals, both in my posts, *and* my comments if I'm talking about them or something they might be interested in.” - http://friendfeed.com/e...
FriendFeed. You can go around looking at everybody's blogs for design inspiration. Then there is also the good content that you find there, some of it might also be related to designing.
- Rishabh Mishra (p248)
If I'm totally stuck for ideas, the usual sites like cssremix and other showcases come in handy. Kuler.adobe.com if a colour scheme is needed :) Great question! Would be good to hear your answer too, Gadiel?
- Matt Harwood
Mona, poster names are still links they're just styled differently so they don't look like the other links.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
beta.friendfeed is my new friend !! lots of new stuff to play with.. 8-10hrs lag with list data ..but a very very powerful feature. !! Way to GO TEAM FF !!
- Peter Dawson
Love it. If this does not go mainstream, I don't know what will.
- Vinay | विनय
OK: That's a long enough beta period. Let's do it live!
- Chris Baskind
I want to start a pool -- (a) first blog to hit techmeme with an article on the re-design, (b) blog with most articles about the re-design (within 2 days starting now)
- Wayne Schulz
Michael: if you're viewing your feed from the main address, there is a 'sharing' box up at the top, and the options (comment, photo, link) appear once you begin typing.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
click on your name Jennifer, above right
- Tibor Holoda
@Jennifer "My Feed" in the sidebar replaces the "me" tab. And like Tibor said, your name works too.
- Dan Hsiao
you launch this right after takeoff from scoble to berlin - coinkydink? :)
- Allen Stern
@Stupid Blogger: Thanks, I'd figured that out, was just pointing out what seems like a bug in the current UI.
- Michael Nielsen
Looks nice on first glance, and it seems easier now to reach rooms. The friend lists should be a great way to organize my imaginary friends which are basically topic subscriptions. The "Add/ Remove friends" link is confusing at first because when you don't have any friends in the list yet, clicking it will result in nothing (making you wonder if it's broken). The message sharing post...
- Philipp Lenssen
I love the new info bubble. Super better than the old one :)
- AJ Batac
Looks like the logo now clicks to the Friends view, as you'd expect. Same as You + Friends.
- Chris Baskind
can't seem to access the beta site: Service Unavailable We encountered an error on your last request. Our service is new, and we are just working out the kinks. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- Thomas Hawk
Awesomeness, very useful, and solves the biggest problem of noise reduction! great!
- Aditya Kothadiya
awesome! Working now. Anyone know if there is a pagerization greasemonkey script yet for the beta site?
- Thomas Hawk
thanks for the iteration.. it's a great step forward
- Travis Parsons
like the new functions, but not the new layout, it just doesn't look like friendfeed and a bit feel like google groups (caused by the side bar maybe). miss the old layout...
- Baron M.
We need a "remove from home feed" button under the friends settings. Or there must be an option that we can choose the list which shows on main page. For example, i want to see only "Professional" friends' feeds on the main page.
- Selim Yoruk
So many small details and improvements, make SO much difference.
- Martin Añazco
At last, I will be able to add to my feed all the people who subscribe to me, and it won't impact on my main source of infobrainment. It looks nice, too. Looks like you guys have pulled another one out of the bag. +1
- Slappy Line
I'm truly amazed at how good the UI is. The subtle touches like the use of blue links in just the right places or the contextual help like "How does hiding work?". Really great job. I think mioNews just became a little less useful to me, since FF now natively has friend groups. Oh well :P
- Patrick Lightbody
It has a great feature in allowing me to separate different people into different lists - that will be worth the whole interface change in itself. I hope that rooms also have embeddable feeds tho!
- Justin Long
FF is in a frenzy. This is 16 hrs old and 3rd on my Best of the Week. Congratulations Bret and team.
- Russellreno
@Marcos: you can hover your mouse over the comment bubble in front of a comment to get its timestamp.
- Dan Hsiao
As soon we will reach the point at which we will have a real data portability and a technology which decouple us from specific platforms - because my data, social network information etc. will be updated in real-time independently from the service I use - we will see a renaissance of awesome interfaces.
- Sebastian Küpers
Who's supplying the data? How would it be done? How secure would it be?
- Franklin Naval
tbh - I can't answer you those questions - ask the guys who are all working on the data portability side - this post more points out, what could happen, if we have this situation - in the end I think the data side will be much more user-centric.
- Sebastian Küpers
The scuba room is http://friendfeed.com/scuba :) According to the Friend Feed Room directory, http://ffrd.appspot.com/photogr..., there are 11 rooms dedicated to photography. As for an actual search the most often cited method is to use Friend Feed Google custom search, http://www.google.com/coop.... Both the directory and the custom search were created by very helpful and wise fellow Friend Feed members.
- Kevin D. White
/scuba link - The file you requested is no longer on FriendFeed's servers. You may have followed an out-dated link, or there may be an error in our service. We apologize for the inconvenience.
