It seems that the leaves redden during the course of the summer. I wish wildflower books provided keys or illustrations to the seeds and fruits; it would make finding IDs for plants like this a lot easier.

Oh, that's neat. The stem looks almost too spindly to support the leaves and berries.

That's the nice thing about old botanical illustrations. They usually included those.

Even a lot of websites that are normally helpful for identifying plants don't always show the fruits and seeds.
