Ha! yes, sir. and I'm hearing that question with the inflection I often get: "you have a TATTOO? on your HEAD?" with raised eyebrows. it's a pottery motif of the Zuni, the first example found with the lines filled in on the North American continent. To me it represents this cognitive shift in the moment a woman painting pottery realized she could define space by coloring inside the lined patterns they'd been doing for centuries before that. I wanted that inspiration as close to my brain as I could get it.
