My first cup was an americano made with Blue Bottle Hayes Valley Espresso coffee. I had a cup of drip from the Blue Bottle cafe this morning (because of my accident with the siphon) and I have to say that the results from the Aeropress were extremely similar.
- Robin Barooah
I used it again yesterday - had 3 cups during the course of the day. I have to say the results were consistently very good. It is very easy to control the amount of coffee you make and how strong it is, and it is as quick and easy to clean as they say. It also produced great results every time with no real practice - which is not true of hand dripping or siphoning. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that it has no romance to it at all - it's almost like using a medical appliance.
- Robin Barooah
LOL @ syringe... it goes PERFECTLY with the IV ;)
- Mona Nomura
Tried this with the Jamaican Blue Mountain. Surprisingly, FAIL. It tasted good, but had none of the richness I got from dripping. The Aeropress seem to do a very good job of extracting the sweeter notes but doesn't handle the body well, so it will make an average coffee taste sweeter, but do violence to something that's already well balanced.
- Robin Barooah
I think I'm going to relegate this for coffees that are past their prime.
- Robin Barooah
(note: that last comment doesn't mean that I have stopped thinking this is great - I'll be using the siphon or hand dripping instead)
- Robin Barooah
So you're having good luck with Blue Bottle beans, generally? That's what I'd typically be using.
- Veronica
Just having a cup of the Temescal Espresso made using the Aeropress. Very nice indeed. Definitely works well with espresso/mokka pot blends.
- Robin Barooah
i live in turkey and i dont know how can i buy. how much money did you pay for Aeropress? is it expensive?
- fatih gül
If only you can hook up to a hose you can do an iv. Neat device.
- Admiral70
i've had coffee made from just about every brewing method around and this one, hands down, makes the best cup of coffee I've had. very highly recommended.
- Brett Kelly
I need to replace my old espresso maker - this is definitely a contender.

"When you work with the web, there are a couple of basics you really need to get right. These are things I see people misunderstand over and over again, with a varying degree of failiure as a result. Not only individuals make these mistakes, even really big organizations make them, and suffer as a result."

Well thought out. Not sure if I'm smart enough to digest it all myself but it was a well reasoned post. The real question is can it be fixed in a era where it seems as if the only way to win is to pander to one extreme end or the other. We seem to be missing centrisits in both parties (IMHO).
- Mike
it will definitely not be easy - the reality is that my party is largely responsible for the era you refer to - its hard to fault our 50+1 strategy from 2004 in some ways because i dont think we would have won any other way but that strategy demands that you maximize the support and enthusiasm of the "low hanging fruit" which then creates an environment where your proposals are designed to appeal to a narrow segment of your party instead of the broader population

Yes and no. Think that most amateur bloggers are getting more satisfaction now that commenting is more important than it was, but more amateurs now have enough experience to be professional.

The truth is that i just wanted to see the final result, and to try and reproduce it without reading the actual tutorial (i do that for all kind of things (: ). I'll drop you some links if I happen to succeed.

mostly only the OS now, here. I have OpenOffice here, but rarely use it. More often use Google Docs these days. I don't have a local email client any longer either. Ok, I do use desktop software for web design, and image work (dreamweaver and photoshop).
- Ian May
Probably true, but I would much rather use Google docs. Starts up faster, less overhead. If I'm using a document, it probably involves internet access in one way or another.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Tech is moving much faster than most people's knowledge of it. I've had to explain to multiple people over the past couple of months what a Browser is. To them, the IE icon is the only way to bring up the Internet. The idea that they could use an online Office app is beyond the knowledge base of these folks. Education is needed.
- Andrew
i'm using gdocs a lot, with lots of problems convincing others to do the same. sorry but it it still not there..i'm not talking about the "extra extra not usable " features ... just think about using templates, or interop with those who are not using gdocs (number lists and bullets doesn't import/export well. and other problems..
- Naor Mark
pspad on windows - I author txt or xhtml for docs. On mac - mostly google docs. Never Office.

+1 Sprague D. Also the intarwebs say that Google Chrome is not just a reskinned browser, but quote "a full on desktop operating system" that will free us all from teh evil Microsoft hegemony.
- Karim
Well, Karim, I for one certainly welcome our new Googly overlords. Yes indeed.

There's something very weird about reading an article about the LHC on Make Magazine, like it's a DIY project done by a few French and Swiss hobbyists.
- Kevin Fox
@Mo, Not sure if that is funny or not. :0)

I can't recall having seen most of your feed, a lot of it is interesting. Sometimes, I post the same stuff as someone "more popular" and my item gets pushed aside. I just keep posting more stuff, participating in comments, people get used to seeing your name and then start to pick up on your feed items. I think it may have something to do with the reticular activating system
- Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Adam, most of my items don't get large amounts of FF comments either. The more involved I am on other people's items, though, the more I seem to get in return.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
@Rasheen, I just checked out some of your sites and videos. Talented dude you are. Wish I could hook you up with my buddy out of Pasadena who is an emcee.
- Adam Helweh
@Stupid Its not about being "noticed" or "popular" or anything like that. I have subscribers, but how many is enough? Is it a number game with 1% of your subscribers will actually take a look at what your contributing? If so, I am screwed with less than 100 subscribers. LOL My initial post was not because I had very little activity, it was really due to absolutely no activity.
- Adam Helweh
Adam: I just subscribed to you. If I see something interesting I'll like it. I don't see a lot of original content. That's what I usually end up clicking "like" on.
- Robert Scoble
You've got some good links here, Adam. Consider yourself subscribed. Aloha!
- Bill Sodeman
Thanks Bill and Robert. Now if only I can get the same response without sounding like a whining baby. :0)
- Adam Helweh
obviously this has something to do with your manga avatar

Thanks, Adam! It's really about who follows you. Some people just come to listen. If you're active, other active people will subscribe/interact with you. That's about it.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
@Matthew, I think you might be right. Damn

That's really interesting. I use Hostmonster right now, but not for long if things get too big. I wonder what the pricing is for some of these hosts.

"Zakaria worries that one day historians will write about how the United States globalized the world, but forgot to globalize itself."

it could be a "may" if it were written a few years ago... otherwise....
- Jeremy Toeman
It's not such a terrible thing. It's a world economy. What we had going here couldn't last forever. Now we just have to stop doing things that disadvantage us, and we'll do okay. We need to get to work on our education system, health care, infrastructure, and stop borrowing all that money for things that don't create value -- like the war in Iraq.
- Dave Winer
You know if McCain started talking like that he might win the election. The thing that's scary is that he doesn't seem to understand where we fit in. Our army isn't going to convince a lot of our adversaries and all of his bluster is going in the wrong direction.
- Dave Winer
And still, people are overlooking South America. China and Russia are slowly building alliances with other countries, bypassing the United States...
- Mona Nomura
BTW, I think it's very cool that the Chinese are opening plants in the US. I'd like to dig into that and find out why it was economic for them to do that. Maybe they just did it for PR purposes. It's hard to imagine that our labor costs less than theirs.
- Dave Winer
For those who follow the recent goings-on in the Anglican Communion, it's intersting to note that much of the debate is North-South centered, with some concluding that the North is moving toward a phase of Laodicean irrelevance.

In *only* 30 yrs. China has been steadily moving from the centralized planning of socialism to free markets and capitalism....Meanwhile the U.S. has been moving in the opposite direction...U.S. citizens would be wise to go back to their roots, because the China horse has left the barn.
- Chris Rossini
There is obviously a lot for the US to be concerned about and I don't think it's necessary for the US to be the sole superpower. It's probably better for us if we're not bc obviously we aren't very good at it. That said, I have some real concerns about what we're seeing from China and what's really going on. If I had a lot of money, I would probably spent more investing in India than...

This makes the same amount of sense it did when Leo Laporte proposed this idea during the opening ceremony - that is none at all.

Technically ... until China floats it's currency, we're subsidizing them. Free trade at some point needs to be fair free trade.
- Charlie Anzman
boy 'yall thinks this is a good thing? I'm just glad to be here and not there. if the rest of the world wants to bend over for tyranny, cheap labor and unrestricted industrialization... then let them destroy their land. ...and they can hate me all they want. ah yes the joys of socialism that is not sustainable, so now they have to be a bunch of predators. I'm just glad we aren't voting Obama for president or we might end up like them. A green ghetto makes a carnivore

Just added Fareed Zakaria's book to my Amazon.com wish list.

Agreed with Dave Winer. This doesn't mean some post-apocalyptic future for America; just less American dominance in various areas.
- Brent Newhall
you can have your Chinese mob glut of human meat and I will take America and it's breadbasket of food, plentiful natural gas and running on Chevy Volts in a few years. Wind and Solar going faster then any other country. America is BACK! I just hope I can hold all of you to live outside of America's borders in a few years. Socialism and Dictatorships are flip sides of a coin. America might hit a few bumps down the road to energy independence, but I will take this road over any other.
