Nice, but MobileCrunch trying to claim that private methods are "secret apis" is pretty misleading

"Some of these boys and men exhibit extreme-male-brain tendencies, including an ability to focus obsessively for long periods of time, often on inanimate objects or abstractions (hence male domination of engineering and high-end law). Paradoxically, other male brains in these exceptional cases may have an ability to experiment with many options for short periods each. Pejoratively diagnosed as attention-deficit disorder, Pinker provides evidence this latter ability is actually a strength for some entrepreneurs."

"CompuLab introduces fit-PC2 – the smallest, most power-efficient Intel Atom PC to date. fit-PC2 architecture is what sets it apart from other nettop PCs - fit-PC2 is designed around the Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz and the ultra low power Intel US15W system controller hub, rather than the Atom N270 and 945G used in other nettop-PCs, thereby reducing power consumption by more than two thirds. US15W incorporates hardware video acceleration. This allows fit-PC2 to run Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux at just 6W and to play full HD 1080p H.264 video using less than 7W."

Very impressive, but I'm finding that when I'm in a fixed location, I usually want lots of power and don't mind paying for it. Otherwise, I'm happy with a netbook.

Interesting option for a home built media center however..

This would probably have been just as good as, and quite a bit cheaper than, the Mac Mini I have connected to our TV at home. Oh wait -- I need a DVD slot for that (since half the point was to reduce the number of devices we have in the armoir).
- Joel Webber
I'll be looking to replace my home OpenBSD gateway soon. Its currently an almost-10-year-old-Dell PowerSomethingOrOther. Low energy usage will be important, this kind of machine looks nice. I don't need the video acceleration, but it doesn't appear to consume much power when idle.
- DGentry
I think this is what Joel is saying, but the Mac Mini is worth the premium, because you want things like a DVD player. I haven't measured the power draw, but they are playing up the "green" (http://www.apple.com/macmini...) and say it idles at 13W. I'll put it on a meter and test what it draws while playing video from hdd.

We loved Kona Village. ScottLu and GBurd are huge fans also. They can go on at length. Note that they are shutting down for a remodel some time soon. and won't be open next season.
- Joe Beda ()
Kona Village pushed the start of the remodel to early 2010. They mentioned something about the economy in the recent newsletter.
- Gary Burd
Kona Village recommendations: 1) Visit the petroglyphs at the resort. The location is shown on the resort map. 2) Go snorkeling from the beach. You can borrow gear at the beach shack. 3) Sign up at the beach shack for snorkeling from the double hull canoe. Space is limited, so signup early. 4) go to the "authentic" luau at the resort 5) look for sea turtles on the beach. 6) stop twittering and enjoy the sun and sand.
- Gary Burd
Dinner at Pahu i'a, on the beach at the Four Seasons. So very good.
- Jon Wiley
One thing that Gary didn't mention is that Kona Village is *super* kid friendly.
- Joe Beda ()
Four Seasons is nice.. Fish Pond that the kids can swim in is cool..

Night snorkeling with manta rays (or scuba, if you're rated for night dives) simply can't be beat, and Kona is the best place in the world to do it. It's just astounding.
- Kevin Fox
Though I have been told by people who have done the Manta ray as both the dive and the snorkel, that the snorkel is better.

Great snorkeling at the Kahaluu Beach Park, 5.5 miles south of Kailua-Kona.

Personally I've had pretty good luck with Fusion. I've got XP, Win7, Ubuntu, and Server 2003 VMs that all run pretty well on my Mac. Unity mode has also come a long way.
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I've had excellent experience with Windows XP running under VMWare Fusion on a MacBook Pro. I went with VMWare after reading a few head-to-head comparisons against Parallels that gave VMWare the edge.
- Benjy Weinberger
haven't tried Parallels but VMware Fusion is pretty good
- Jay
You should get Fusion because Fusion supports 64-bit guest operating systems. According to http://kb.parallels.com/en..., Parallels does not support 64-bit guest operating systems.
- Gary Burd
My experience of Parallels was a bad one. Admittedly it might no longer be relevant, but I had kernel panics and it trashed my bootcamp partition. I started using Fusion instead and it's been great so far.
- Paul Grav
I had to stop using Fusion, because it constantly crashed my computer and/or consumed all available resources. I haven't had problems with Parallels, and it boots up super fast.
- Darren
VMware Fusion rocks. I haven't tried parallels.
- TranceMist
VMware - I didnt get on with Parallels when i tried it.
- Simon Wicks
I've settled on VMWare Fusion. It's easy to go back and forth as both get better. I've decided on Fusion and not to be tempted to switch again. It works and works well.

Ive used both extensively and Fusion just gets it right in just about every way. Find some Fusion love here: http://tinyurl.com/cazahn
- Carlos Ayala
I prefer Fusion because I can run the disk images on multiple machines. I know Parallels is available for Windows but outside of the Mac VMware is the benchmark.
- Kevin D. White
VMWare Fusion. I switched around Parallels 3 due to a really odd problem: Parallels would completely freeze a machine when launching or quitting an image. Given we use virtualization for testing, it was pretty insane. Subsequent updates to Parallels have left me scratching my head (what, exactly, is an adaptive hypersor?) so I've stuck with VMWare. I've heard Parallels 4 is somewhat faster than VMWare Fusion 2, however.
- Mark Trapp
If I have to use Windows - Parallels.
- Drew Lucas
I used to use Parallels, but upon upgrading to Parallels 3, my Linux images stopped working smoothly. Upon upgrading to Parallels 4, it offers to upgrade my Parallels 3 VMs, and after doing so, my main Windows VM is now trashed (yeah it backs up). I switched to VMWare fusion, it just seems hassle free.

Watching TV and doing anything else. Over the years I've pruned my TV watching so now I only watch shows I'm really interested in. Hence I concentrate on the TV when it's on and can't tune it out.

It's never too late to learn Stephen, I'd be happy to teach!

Thanks Georgia! I've been taught a couple of times, but we don't have a manual transmission vehicle, so a few years go by and I totally forget and need to relearn all over again.

@BEX....lucky for you that GPS is now affordable and becoming more common and accessible.
- .LAG liked that
I have one .LAG. I still have to print out map quest directions and get debriefed by my husband. The GPS at least makes me safe in knowing that I won't be lost forever. Pitiful
