"Thanks for the enthusiastic comments. Mom is indeed, grandfathered and eligible to adjust her status to that of an LPR. The priority date of the F-4 petition has been current for a while. The problem is the deportation order that was entered against the mother, which the Atlanta ICE office is refusing to lift. If they simply join a motion to reopen, mom can file for adjustment of status and no one gets deported. It is that simple. You'd think if anything, they would exercise discretion here."
