Help finding "Baker Tom's" - ForumsHawaii - http://forumshawaii.net/vbb...
Driving towards Honoka'a from Hilo on Hawaii Belt Road, it is at the main entrance to Papaikou. Take a left on Silverton Camp Mill Road and immediately pull into the parking lot on the right. Baker Tom's is right there. Another good place for malassadas is Crivellos Place off of Kaumana Drive. if you are in downtown Hilo, drive in the Hamakua direction until you get to Waianuenue Ave. Follow that road Mauka until it forks off to Kaumana Drive and Waianuenue Ave. stay left on Kaumana Drive. keep driving past the 7-11 and 76 gas station until you see a little green building with a yellow sign on the roof reading "Hawaii Smoke Meat" or something like that. Thats Crivellos Place, their malassadas are the best I've had, other than the old ladies that sell at the St. Joseph Country Fair. Hope you can make it to either place, I dont think you will be disappointed. - Devin Dawson

Canonical Correlation Analysis - http://www.imt.liu.se/~magnus...
Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) is a way of measuring the linear relationship between two multidimensional variables. It finds two bases, one for each variable, that are optimal with respect to correlations and, at the same time, it finds the corresponding correlations. In other words, it finds the two bases in which the correlation matrix between the variables is diagonal and the correlations on the diagonal are maximized. The dimensionality of these new bases is equal to or less than the smallest dimensionality of the two variabl - Devin Dawson

JavaScript dependency management and concatenation: Sprockets - http://getsprockets.org/
Sprockets is a Ruby library that preprocesses and concatenates JavaScript source files. It takes any number of source files and preprocesses them line-by-line in order to build a single concatenation. Specially formatted lines act as directives to the Sprockets preprocessor, telling it to require the contents of another file or library first or to provide a set of asset files (such as images or stylesheets) to the document root. Sprockets attempts to fulfill required dependencies by searching a set of directories called the load path. - Devin Dawson

Re: Why Hulu Should Embrace Boxee - http://www.avc.com/a_vc...
"Can you expand or point to an explanation of the statement "Boxee is also an RSS reader optimized for the 10 ft experience"? I'm an RSS advocate since scriptingnews was #1, and a boxee/appletv user for around a month... but I have no idea what that might mean. It must be a feature that I'm missing, and that is unacceptable. If boxee has/is something that is as fundamental a shift in media consumption as rss was to my information consumption..." - Devin Dawson

j keeps track of where you’ve been, and how much time you spend there. Source it into your .bashrc, and then you can say j foo to jump to the most used directory that has the substring (actually regex) foo in it, or j foo bar for the directory that has both foo and bar ... It tab completes out of its file ($HOME/.j), and tries a case sensitive match first, then tries to match without case sensitivity. - Devin Dawson

fourstones.net - ccMixter: A Memoir - http://fourstones.net/ccmixte...
"When we started the ccMixter project, it was obvious that liberally licensed source material would provide musicians a way to interact that was simply prohibited by an All Rights Reserved model. For all the benefits of participating in the sharing economy that has been touted by free culture advocates, including myself, the surprising result of ccMixter is that it provides evidence indicating the most compelling argument yet: free-wheeling participation in a commons makes the art better." - Devin Dawson

Blau space - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...
'"Blau space consists of the multidimensional coordinate system, created by considering the set of socio-demographic variables as dimensions. All socio-demographic characteristics are potential elements of Blau space, including continuous characteristics such as age, years of education, income, occupational prestige, geographic location, and so forth. In addition, categorical measures of socio-demographic characteristics such as race, sex, religion, birthplace, and others are Blau dimensions. "Blau space" is a theoretical construct, named after Peter Blau, first presented in McPherson's "Ecology of Affiliation" in American Sociological Review Vol. 48 (1983), pp. 519-532. However, a more sophisticated version is presented in McPherson and Ranger-Moore's "Evolution on a Dancing Landscape: Organizations and Networks in Dynamic Blau Space" in Social Forces Vol. 70 (1991), pp. 19−42." - Devin Dawson

An Open Source App: Rietveld Code Review Tool - Google App Engine - Google Code - http://code.google.com/appengi...
1. Developer makes some changes in their Subversion workspace. 2. Developer uploads a patch in the form of svn diff output to Rietveld, using a small script named upload.py. This creates a new issue for them on the Rietveld website. 3. Developer goes to the issue that was just created on the Rietveld site, adds the email addresses of one or more reviewers, and causes Rietveld to send an email to the reviewer(s). 4. Reviewer navigates to the issue on the Rietveld site, browses the side-by-side diffs linked from there. A side-by-side diff shows the old and new version of the source code side by side, with deleted text on the left marked with a light red background, and inserted text on the right marked with a light green background. (Two different shades of red and green each are used, to highlight the differences at a finer-grain level than blocks of lines. This helps find one-character changes and clarifies diffs that just reflow a lot of text.) ........ - Devin Dawson
