Google Wave is so real-time, your conversation partners will often respond before you finish typing, saving you precious keystrokes.
It's amazing how useful that is in practice. I've had entire sub conversations where we start typing, see an initial response, then both delete the line and start over with some issue already resolved. It really is like chat in email. - Joel Webber
I really like it. I can see it being useful to have a line-by-line mode as well, but char-by-char makes the most sense for people you are working with closely. - Matt Mastracci
I think it may truly reduce email overload, because people converge faster without swapping lots of emails. How many multi-message exchanges have you had over email just to realize you already essentially agreed from the beginning? - Bruce Johnson from BuddyFeed

Delta.com disaster. This simple little page contains 150k of CSS, and over 500k of Javascript split across 10 files. Oh, and it's completely broken on WebKit.
Picture 1.png
Notice how "credit card number" is selected, yet it's still prompting me for a SkyMiles number. I think this fairly well demonstrates how badly things go wrong when you use HTML templates and just "include a bunch of common scripts" that you might need on any page. God, what a mess. - Joel Webber
650k for style and JavaScript... At that size one's better off with Flash ... xP - Pandu ● IT Optimizer from fftogo
And to make matters worse, probably 99+% of it isn't even used for anything on the page. I've seen so many apps like this, where template monkeys just started throwing random javascript into template headers, with no idea whether or where each script is needed. Then they have no decent tools to analyze it, so it just keeps growing, because everyone's afraid to pull anything out. - Joel Webber

New improvements to the Android Market - http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009...
New improvements to the Android Market
"As part of this change, developers will be able to provide screenshots, promotional icons and descriptions that will better show off applications and games. We have also added four new sub-categories for applications: sports, health, themes, and comics." - Tom Stocky from Bookmarklet
This improvement is welcomed, but I would have prefered an API that helps me to build my own market. Could you simply imagine a world where there will be only one identical shop for all countries, for all cultures, for all ages, for all products ? Sorry, I can't. Give us an API, it will help the community to build the success of the Android plateform. - Didier Girard

Tonight is the beginning of the end of the "geeks-only" phase of FriendFeed. Now that Guy Kawasaki is here the marketers will start showing up.
I'm showing Six Flags tomorrow...lol - sean andersen
*doffs hat in respect to the passing of the time of geeks* - WorldofHiglet
So what's next? - Kevin Arth
yeah but unlike twitter, I'm not so sure internet marketers would feel successful on FriendFeed with everyone blocking them - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ
Now on to Google Wave! - sean andersen
And the spammers too, I guess. Great.. - Citronella
And ghost posters / commenters. - Ben Hanten
Slayerboy: good marketers won't get blocked. I really appreciated getting cuts in line at Six Flags because of their Twitter contest. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Good marketers aren't most marketers :) - Brett Kelly
Brett: only good ones will survive here. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Or they will drown. - sean andersen
Only if Guy likes it will they come. Friendfeed.alltop.com and all that. - Pete Delucchi from iPhone
Robert: I don't mind good marketers, as long as they're genuine. Too many of them (particular the "social media marketing gurus") are just unforgivably obnoxious and fake in their attempts to pimp their own garbage services/blog. So, I really hope you're right :) - Brett Kelly
Bad marketers on FriendFeed will survive in search results. Do a search for a couple of terms like 'canon 135mm' and you'll see plenty of entries that are just links to people selling the lens. You're not going to block them all. I don't see that as a big problem, but I suspect they'll be successful enough there to keep them coming. - Edward Coffey
Start? I've been here for a loooong time. A few of my 'marketing' friends have been too. - AJ Kohn
Marketers phase has already started in Turkey. Friendfeed is generally used by them, or I think like that... - Sabri Küstür
we need like a freindfeed costranostra to keep the peace, and make things just poof into the ethersphere - Robert Higgins
so wish i was a freindfeed coder and i could merge with the stream and provide some community services... :AKA Hiro Protaganist - Robert Higgins
@Robert: +1 for Snowcrash reference. - AJ Kohn
I'm in Marketing, and I've been here from the beginning. Are you slandering my craft, Mr. Scoble? :) - Louis Gray
Louis: you don't work for a big brand. When you sell your souls and work for a big brand let us know, OK? ;-) - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Robert, wait, don't you work for a big brand? - Jesse Stay
Jesse: sssshhhhh. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
"Now on to Google Wave! - sean andersen" Exactly. Unless the FF core team is over there on the sandbox right now, doing all they can to start the scrambling scrum RIGHT NOW, the big GWave will assimilate all. At least until the assimilation wave after that. FF has maybe a one year window -- if that -- to make it's move, whatever that might be, starting right now. - michael silverton
Citronella - I like that the spammers are vaporized almost instantly here. Decent built in tools for group reporting. - BairdWilliamson
If I got here before Guy and I'm geekless does that give me any special designation? - Kimber Scott
michael silverton: Wave sandbox already looks like Gmail. I bet when they release it, it will be Gmail 2.0. I hope Bret & co. are studying it close... - sean andersen
Kimber: you are geeky because you were here before...whether you like that designation or not :) - WorldofHiglet
Louis has more than *one* soul? Or is this a left-foot, right-foot thing. Colour me confus`ed :D - Micah Wittman
LOL! Well, I guess I could be called an amateur geek... - Kimber Scott from email
Pot. Kettle. Black. - Gilbert Harding
@silverton, agreed that FriendFeed has a limited time window to figure out what it wants to be when it's all grown up.. in other news, can't believe it took Guy this long to show up here to play. Nothing wrong with a little marketing, especially if it's of the "Moving the Freeline" variety.. +1 Gilbert, LOL. - Alex Schleber
If I were Guy, or the head of any company, be it a camera shop or whatever, whenever I had a little free time, I'd tweet out, "Hey, I'm going to be on FriendFeed for an hour or so, answering any questions about Alltop, telling you about its features, advantages, and benefits, come join in!" or something like that. That's a vertical that feeds off Twitter and really enriches both platforms, utilizing them both for their strengths. - Stephen Pickering
With Leo, Steve Rubel, and Guy K now all here .. this landscape is about to change ... agreed. - Charlie Anzman
I'm reading Crossing the Chasm, only 18 years after it was published. Can I blend in as a "marketer" now? - DGentry
Well hopefully communities will coexist in open social media, we aren't defined by what or where we login to right? It's just information we share, the platform is merely a pipeline. The communities need to exist beyond the platforms - Mark Essel from iPhone
Say it isn't so Joe! It will be interesting to watch the transformation, will FriendFeed go to the dark side or will it make a stand :) - Owen Greaves
true.. true.. - Cesar Sanchez
So, do you think the population will tend to shift to more casual people than the creme de la creme people. I feel so, since there are only the innovative, open-minded people on FriendFeed right now; and I think the change is pretty near. - Yiğit Arda Türkoğlu
Marketing guys have always been here. The difference... tactics and respect. That being said change is always happening and even still I'm not sure Friendfeed will hit the critical mass Twitter has with marketers. The friendfeed brand will likely be defined differently than Twitter and attract different people. Time will tell. - Jim Goldstein from iPhone
why? can't marketing guys and geeks get along? - kakuei
No. We cannot get along. This war has been waged for too long, and too much blood has been spilled. Most of us no longer even remember why we are fighting, but it doesn't matter. Victory is all that matters. - DGentry
The marketers are already here, but most of them are totally clueless about how friendfeed works. They somehow think they can dump their stuff here and it will get "found" and when that doesn't work, they just go back to twitter. The ones that do understand how it works either feel it is too much damn work to fake being real to be worth it, or they are the real deal and it works quite well for them. - April Russo (app103)
April: I think there's some cost-benefit analysis going on there. There's a smaller crowd at FF and it takes a lot more work. Plus, most people here are marketing jaded. - Trent Hamm
The craft of marketing. That's priceless. - Big K
Guy is a marketer, sure, but also a geek. Geeks phase ends when the Celebs show up. - Garin Kilpatrick
well if they start selling, just dont click "like" or "comment" and they will drop off the page in minutes - Mark
I think some marketers are already here..but anyway, you think Guy being here will change things much? - Rob Sellen :o)
Robert, you might have to make a stand for geeks everywhere. Prepare yourself. - Joe

Don't click yet, I was just brushing up! - Sean Powell
I'm so honored to have read this message from scoble. I'm grateful for our "geeks only" days that we've all shared! LOL - Jason Pollock
No Kidding! Welcome Guy Kawasaki, who ever your are. - Houseofmax
Yes I agree - Randy Allen Bishop
thats unfortunate, but who is GuyK? - echostreamer
When the marketer wagon shows up I'll be going private. - Geoff Schultz
Yeah, Jim Goldstein sez it: those of us from the dark side that stumbled into these sweet precincts have kept a low profile... sorta like taking your hat off when you go to church ; > - Thom Kennon
he's actually been here awhile, just not posting, mr scoble - chaz2b
Some ppl cannot be stopped. Like me! Not geeky enough, a girl, too wall st. Watch out, cause tenacity wins every time. - Liza
well then lets learn from Twitter and not follow every stupid command that celebrities give us to rocket them to the top of friend feed. BOYCOTT ALL CELEBRITIES ON FRIEND FEED to save this from becoming the punchline that twitter. save the whales, then save friend feed plez :) - echostreamer
Jason Pollock liked this, that is HILARIOUS! He posts the most redundant links on Twitter...a notorious spammer. At least Guy admits what he does, still somewhat annoying. Not sure why Leo Laporte was mentioned, I don't see him fitting that GK mold at all. - Benjamin Taylor
In retrospect ... it seems to have been a hit and run for now ?? Hoping not. Would be great to see him actively engaging here. A LOT to offer. Marketing crowd? ... No worries - There's always 'block, tackle and hide .....' here - Charlie Anzman
Robert, I think this is such crazy talk, you're a marketer too ;) - Jeremiah Owyang
Umm, I'm pretty sure that Guy is also a geek. Regardless of what his cool cred is...then again his cool cred is totally geek cool cred. - Alex Scoble
LOL Robert. What is wrong with you. I lol'd. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
Guy Kawasaki does have magic initials, I will give him that. - Garin Kilpatrick

Just got my Clear wimax service set up at home, and it works like a champ (6M down, 0.5M up, and I get a USB dongle I can use with my laptop all over town). No more at&t, no more bellsouth, no more comcast, nada. The only wire connected to my house is power. I don't know why this makes me happy, but it does.
Do they have usage caps? - Matt Mastracci
Show off. Hmph. - EricaJoy
I'm interested in how you like it after some time. Clear is in Portland, but I'm so used to wired internet I'm skeptical to try it out. I'm interested in the usage cap question, too. - Mark Trapp
Ah, but what is the ping latency? I won't take anything over 75ms, as it makes killing people online in first person shooters extremely difficult. :) - Ray Cromwell
I wanted to get Clear, but they don't work in my immediate area. I was all excited about it too :( - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Play some Quake Live and tell me how it goes :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
The ping times to relatively local servers tend to be around 70-80ms. Not a speed demon, to be sure, but I haven't played an online shooter in quite a while. - Joel Webber

Study finds that people who multitask a lot are actually worse at it than those who do it less - http://news.stanford.edu/news...
Study finds that people who multitask a lot are actually worse at it than those who do it less
"To our absolute shock, we found that in any of the categories of activities that we thought their brain would be better at, that would enable them to manage multiple streams of information at one time, they're actually worse at all of them. So it's a great mystery what's going on. All we can say now is that multitaskers are lousy at multitasking." -- Prof. Clifford Nass (in the story's embedded video) - Tom Stocky from Bookmarklet
"The researchers are still studying whether chronic media multitaskers are born with an inability to concentrate or are damaging their cognitive control by willingly taking in so much at once. But they're convinced the minds of multitaskers are not working as well as they could." - Tom Stocky
I wonder how many people watched the video at the top of this article while they read the article. - Michael Leggett
Michael, LOL. But this can't be new finding, can it? I've read about this conclusion so long ago I can't remember who said it first. David Allen's GTD tackles the multi-tasking weakness and the book is several years old. We are so bombarded with information/gadgets/tools etc. that we are actually slowed down because of them. - Andre P. Siregar
Andre, I've seen past studies that showed that multitasking was inefficient due to switching costs, but this was the first study I've seen that compared heavy multitaskers with light multitaskers. You might think that heavy multitaskers would be more effective at it, but they found that the opposite was actually true. - Tom Stocky
Now its interesting that they don't mention ADD as they seem better at multitasking and actually can thrive in that. - Jonas S Karlsson from Android
Even people with ADD might get bogged down with too many tasks at the same time. Yes they might not have the same attention span as others, but there's still an upper limit on their brain's ability to multitask. - Pandu ● IT Optimizer from email

Sigh. The hackers got into my blog, left some invisible text in places I didn't catch, and now have gotten me kicked out of Google. Grrr.

I got screwed cause the old blog.grazr.com got hacked (didn't know it) and it was redirected to my new blog. So now my pagerank is like -5 or something. - mikepk
shocked that after the hell i went through on rackspace/mosso they wouldn't have known what to clear - i was out of google too - it's so fun - all of my sites got hit too over time so i lost a ton of google. - Allen Stern
I hate to say it but as Allen and Jesse are hinting at this is a black mark on your hosting provider. - Daniel J. Pritchett
I still get yahoo search referrals for casinos and nsfw stuff. blah. #spammersshouldbekilled - mikepk
why is this rackspaces fault? - Mark
I've seen injected content on RSS feeds that didn't show up on the blog itself. :-/ Sorry to hear! - Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
there's a virus or something like that which places an iframe in your page. just change your ftp password, scan your machine for virusses, and find the code in the pages and then google will let you in again - Hakan İyice
Maybe it's a black mark because Scoble is a Rackspace employee, but it's not Rackspace's fault something happened to a website. They run the server, not the website. - Mark Trapp
daniel - just to be clear - they have said to me time and agian it's not their side, it's wordpress side. - Allen Stern
Is that acceptable? I know that ever since I've moved from hosted Blogspot over to self-administered WordPress I've had some crazy spam issues. Maybe that's just a natural consequence of the blog growing and not a result of my hosting choice. - Daniel J. Pritchett
They used some sort of admin hack. We changed a whole bunch of stuff and now the hack has stopped (we deleted the admin account and did a bunch of other stuff). I'm not sure how it happened, but we're getting smarter about setting up Wordpress, that's for sure! - Robert Scoble
Allen: there are folks inside Rackspace who know how to clean this up. I'm now working with them. - Robert Scoble
Use XENU to find all the links and kill them, makes life easier to find all the places the embedded code ended up. Worked for me when this happened to me last year. - Dan Morrill AKA Techwag
In a separate thread, Robert admitted his blog was running WordPress 2.7.x, which was vulnerable to an exploit detailed here: http://wordpress.org/develop... -- and then once in, hackers can inject spam only visible to robots. If you have a WordPress blog, please update to the latest version -- 2.8.4 -- to prevent hackers from doing the same thing to your blog that they did to Robert's. - Stephen Mack
It's such a damn shame that you worked so hard to have an Internet presence and some bastard sits around in his basement and try to whack you off the net - Houseofmax
Robert, if you need some WP help from experts, check out the wordpress.org forums and/or wptavern.com. That's where us WordPress nerds hang out. We can give security tips, maybe specific to your host. We also have several people who are skilled at post-hack analysis, to determine how they got in and prevent it from happening in the future. - Otto
Stephen: I think that was ONE of the exploits they used. The exploits continued even after updating (they've stopped now, because we made it hard to find the admin account -- that's something I would do immediately too, change the name of your admin account). - Robert Scoble
Otto: thanks. Some of those guys work at Rackspace and they are helping out now. :-) - Robert Scoble
Wordpress rocks. :) - Louis Gray
Oh yes it does Louis! - Hutch Carpenter
Robert, that was probably how they got in originally, and probably left themselves backdoors that worked even after you updated to 2.8.4. - Stephen Mack
Daniel: nothing about the hosting choice makes WordPress (or any other web-level application) more susceptible to spam. Your site is accessible via a fully-qualified domain name, which is how spammers are finding you (via Google or other means). That domain could be attached to any host, the spammers don't care or necessarily know who that host is. What a host is responsible for,... more... - Mark Trapp
Most of Rackspace's products are unmanaged at the application layer, but managed at the system and network layer. - Mark Trapp
Yes, that is the usual case. A successful hack causes insertion of hidden admin accounts or other backdoors, to let them get in later. One of the steps we always recommend after getting hacked is to a) copy any new "content" you have made into text files somewhere, and then b) restore the site and database from a backup prior to the hack. This prevents anything they inserted from being... more... - Otto
I had to pay triple my yearly hosting fee just to cover the bandwidth lost to spam before I figured out how to blacklist spammers using a WP plugin. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Also, if the Rackspace guys find any possible security problems, have them email the info to security@wordpress.org . It'll get analyzed by experts that way. - Otto
Who is responsible Host? WP? Is it possible to have an eye over errors logs and failed attempt ! - Honey
same exact thing happened to me a month ago. I finally got it sorted out. I'm happy to share what I learned if interested. I went to d msg you on Twitter but i'm one of the masses to be unfollowed - Jim Goldstein
Jim: you can DM me here, which is even better! - Robert Scoble

Robert, if I'm clear on this you are positive this isn't a Rackspace/host/server failure but a failure to secure the script (FREE AND COMMON) you used for your blog. Right? It's not like you had your SQL server hacked or something similarly systems related. - Jason Nunnelley

Same thing has happened to us, actually. Honestly more annoying than harmful in our case, anyway. - Jason Preston
Rob and I are cleaning it up now...*sigh* - Robert J Taylor
Yikes - that sucks. My site got hit with hidden / invisible spam links few months back - big PITA to fix and to get Google juice back gradually. - Patrick Jordan
that happened to me last week... The Rackspace team helped me clean it up - While Google said many Rackspace/Mosso sites were affected I was told (and agree with) - they host thousands and thousands of sites and it's WordPress - not them. - andy brudtkuhl
That would piss me off to no end. Wow. Sorry Robert :( - Andru Edwards
This was actually "hidden" in plain site by the exploit that affected WP 2.7.x All better now. Robert, tell Google to turn the juice back on! - Rob La Gesse
That seems strange to me Robert...google searches have lots of NSFW stuff, so why would you be removed from the index altogether? - Zach Landes
Zach: if I were a betting man, it's because scobleizer.com has a very high PR, and having that stuff there could adversely affect a whole lot more of the index than just his site. - Mark Trapp
Wow, that is insane. Glad to hear you got it back up in a timely manner, thanks to your team. - Martha
Curiously, the exact same thing happened to my blog (Twittercism.com), pretty much around the same time it happened to Robert, on both occasions. And like him, I was hacked the second time after the upgrade to 2.8.4. And it was invisible text in the footer. It was fairly easy to remove, but still, an irritant. (Incidentally, a WP Plugin called exploit scanner was very useful. http://ocaoimh.ie/exploit...) - Shéa Bennett
Sounds like the Backwards Hack... How to Fix: http://www.gulker.com/fixing-... That was likely a botnet script, not an actual hacker, btw... - Chris Gulker
Sigh. I run a few dozen WP sites, and I have yet to have any of them hacked into. I'm feeling left out here. :( - Otto
oh oh so the last time you were hacked you still have the after effects of it, try the antivirus plugin for wp, it checks the themes for bad and malicious links - Keith Dsouza
Wow! Scoble's Wordpress blog got hacked (click through for the details) & the hacker's secret changes got him thrown out of the Google Index for a while. Make sure you: 1) Always back up your Wordpress blog. 2) Update to 2.8.x, as 2.7 had the vulnerabilities that were exploited in Scoble's case. 3) Check your install for exploits (there are plugins for this), as well as your Google indexing once a week or so. - Alex Schleber
Truly feeling bummed for you Robert! I've had a problem for several weeks of spammers going after my email. Gotta say.. people need to know that all sites are subject to hackers. - Arleen Boyd
yikes! - mutenewt
heh - I wonder if that's why Twitter bulk unfollow purchases have been down this week. :-) - Jesse Stay
Wow, that really sucks. It's hard to believe so little can screw up so much. - Aram Zucker-Scharff
Ouch! Google should know your blog! - Amber Case
Hacked again? That sucks. I saw that you had cleaned it up, so I went to check on things. Someone on my team already saw the bad stuff was gone, so they revoked the removal early this afternoon. Looks like you're already back in the index. - Matt Cutts
You've been hacked twice in a month haven't you. - Jimminy Fuller
i just found more bad files on my mosso account - im seriously done :( matt - can you check insidetransit.com? thanks - Allen Stern
Yikes, that sucks. Link injection is the scourge. - Elliott Ng
Matt: thanks, Google is fast lately. I remember the days when we waited weeks for search engines to reindex! Hopefully we got it all fixed now. We're definitely learning a lot about Wordpress best practices. - Robert Scoble
how do these hackers get to find a way IN? how? - Sardar Mohkim Khan
Install a good web application firewall such as dotDefender, ModSecurity, eeye, imperva it will help you to stop those attacks. - Daniel
That blows - hope you tech guys figure out how to eliminate crap like this : ) I'm sure that won't stop you for long... - Mark Harai
My blogs been hacked since I first had it and I don't even care enough to update it, that alone should show you how much I care about the internet and blogging. - Jeunelle Foster
Be nice if twitter would figure out a financial model that would let them help folks who have been spammed or otherwise compromised - Sean O'Reilly
This same thing happened to me and ALL of my blogs got removed from Google and I'm now working as a cashier. Several years of solid work completely gone. I don't know why Google and WordPress don't do something about this. This was one of the worst things to happen to me in my entire life... :( - Uniquely Cool
By the way, I've only found one sure fire way to keep from getting hacked... and that is to convert your WordPress blog into a static HTML site. Sucks losing some of the interactive features, though. :( - Uniquely Cool
Recently had a drop in my PR, but it must be something I did or said. There must be a better way to enhanced your blog security than going non-interactive, like having your own domain - Houseofmax
This is really depressing. My situation is way worse... I could literally lose my house because of a wordpress exploit. :( - Uniquely Cool

- Alexandre from IM
- Nicolas Gosset from IM
- Alexandre from IM
@Emgenius Kamoulox ! ;-) - Rubin Sfadj

LOL - Steph (sh_skew)

marche pas ton lien INPI - Nicolas Gosset from IM
This is so stupid Loic. You can't trademark a boy's name. You can *maybe* do it for loiclemeur which would be your personal brand, but someone else will be born with that name at some point. If you want to be like scobleizer, try loicmeister :) P.S. love the accent...no joke. - Mohamed J

- Nicolas Gosset from IM

Merci ! - Luc Comeau-Montasse

interesting contrasting reviews on amazon, where it is currently on sale...I agree that not converting into typed text is a drawback, though for me, biggest problem is proprietary file formats -- I ran into this with audible.com (along with no ability to leave feedback anywhere -- not even on amazon, where I purchased it) -- if interested: http://www.amazon.com/Livescr... - Mickey Schafer
I am waiting for upgrades (or a competitor that does it faster) and then I'll be getting one for myself for sure (perhaps I'll get is as the anniversary present from the Bride Of Coturnix...) - Bora Zivkovic
Thanks for pointing to the amazon reviews, Mickey -- some very useful info in there. I think I'll hold off a while until some of the bugs get ironed out and some obvious but still missing features get implemented. - Bill Hooker

A Google executive told me that something cooler than Wave is yet to come this year. OK now I am interested! But I am tortured. What is it?
That does peak my curiosity! - Kevin Whalen
You are a cruel, cruel man. Now we're all tortured - Keith Barrett
There going to buy friendfeed. - Shaun Hess
Yea. I feel like your friendfeed pic, not being able to figure what it is. - Lakshman Prasad
Must be pretty big.. very curious!! - Allan Jones
Geocities 2.0! - pourmecoffee
Maybe Google Chrome OS earlier than expected? - Manuel Mas
I wonder what that could be. - John (a.k.a. dendroica)
So they're already giving up on wave? - Colin
What is your Friendfeed picture anyway? I'm slightly confused. - Hunt
Whatever it is, Apple/AT&T will not allow it on the iPhone :o - Kevin Whalen
How can they be advertising something cooler than Wave when Wave isn't even out yet? - Lise
Colin: no. Wave is very important to Google. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Wave 2.0? - TheHenry
I think I know, but I'm not allowed to say because it would violate an NDA. - Bryan Bartow
It's Google Surfboard - a wave add-on - Keith Barrett
Bryan: in that case do you agree? - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Wave is going to be awesome. Waiting on my sandbox access.. it will redefine communications on the net! - Tim Hoeck
Or how about Google Wave: Pacific. - TheHenry
Depends on their implementation of the idea. Personally, I'm more excited about Wave based on what I know about the two, which I admit is very little. - Bryan Bartow
I have a Wave sandbox, and it IS awesome! The announcement has to be related to the new OS or android - Keith Barrett
Keith, if it's what I'm talking about then it is neither. - Bryan Bartow
Bryan: hummmmm. Now I'm more tortured - Keith Barrett
In the interest of full disclosure, my information is two levels removed from the source. Google -> vendor -> me. Still, I trust the source and when the idea was told to me it sounded very plausible. - Bryan Bartow
I hope it's Google Base integration with Open Social widgets! - Mitch
A bit bigger than that, Mitch ;) - Bryan Bartow
@manuel I just came back from Win7 ship party and i am astonished that how many man years does it take make a OS. - Ruchit Garg
My team was actually asked to work on the project, but we unfortunately had to decline. It definitely would have been a cool project. - Bryan Bartow
Ruchit: I understand, just speculating. Yet considering it sounds like a Linux distro running Chrome, it does not sound all that impossible. - Manuel Mas
Maybe its the ability to call up contacts list when composing a message. That would be groundbreaking. :/ - jcunwired
Google Heath integration with Orkut? - Mitch
@Bryan: Is it a Netbook with Chrome OS with all the Google Apps built in. Something like a GPad? - Abhishek Tiwari
Chrome OS wouldn't be a real surprise. Even a Linux distro by Google wouldn't be a shock. Wonder what it could be... hmm... - ChristianWV
killer than wave??? how many of you think google wave is a path breaking one????? - hariharan kumar
Should be considerably easy for Google to accomplish since Wave is vaporware to the overwhelming majority of web users - even savvy ones who know about it. - Chris Duffy
cool is always relative. I have learned not to get too excited. It may be cool for you but not me. - Phillip Miller
I think you mean subjective - Mitch
hate you. :) - metalerik
It's going to be an anti-aging skin cream. It will be called the G-formula. - Tomy Thomson
When I first heard about Wave, I thought big deal, chat and email. But after watching the entire presentation, I see it could replace Email, IM, IRC, Forums, Blogs and their commenting systems, etc.. and put it all in your 'INBOX' - Tim Hoeck from Android
What about the Google Docs interface overhaul? http://googledocs.blogspot.com/2009... With the possibilities of GDrive ... - Kevin Mohr
Wave seems like another Orkut to me, so it wouldn't surprise me if there is something better coming. - Cristo
Google AdSense on the new Coca-Cola Freestye soda dispensers? - RAD Moose
@Abhishek Nope. Not hardware related if it's what I'm thinking. - Bryan Bartow
I'd be willing to bet it is mobile-related. - LogEx
Google shoul create a highly robust social media platform that integrates Google's products: profiles, mail, calendars, chat, voice, picassa, blogger, gReader, search, latitude, maps - that is what I would build :) - Susan Beebe from BuddyFeed
add Wave too, of course - Susan Beebe from BuddyFeed
I'm just going to call it gootopia (or should it be googtopia. hmm) - Micah Wittman from iPhone
Susan, I think that is happening already, bit by bit. Every month there are new capabilities and integration points. I'm optimistic on that front. - LogEx
Interactive TV? :P - imabonehead
I was dreaming about getting access to wave now something new and better?!!! - Mostafa Lameei
Mostafa: There's always something new and better coming from every front. - Manuel Mas
Logical - Google product integration has way more potential than they have currently in production now. I see layers of useful and revenue generating features and improvents. The potential roadmap I see for this is highly disruptive and needed. - Susan Beebe from iPhone
If I had to guess, I would say 1) some type of Youtube Appliance (=Apple TV done right) or 2) Google News 3.0 (shifting from news to a discovery engine). The TV thing is probably bigger and somewhere they have a big competitive advantage with Youtube. - Edwin Khodabakchian
USB plug in directly to right ear download contents of mental zipper - ready to upload to friends - PookyMedia
Another big opportunity besides realtime communication is media streaming so my guess is a Silverlight-like (RIA) platform with special focus on adjustments dependent on the device used for consuming and open enough that augmented reality innovations will play nice with current "standard" codecs - Alberto Saavedra
Google TV!!! Yes! - Susan Beebe from BuddyFeed
Google Web Drive, under the "Cosmo" codename. Read Blogoscoped or GOS. I think Ionut told me he expects Cosmo to be launch before Sept. - Jérôme Flipo from iPhone
Google Web Drive would be cooler, in a way..ve. - Nick Humphries

Google buying FF?!! but something big too big have will for sure have a relation with Google voice. - abdellah
A time machine? - Allen Eskelin
"Google buying FF" - Noooooo! It will just get killed like some of the other high profile acquisitions they have made. - Travis Koger
@Allen I love the concept, @Travis google killed the app that were at their first stage of development, FF is 85% finished (mean completed) the rest 5% will be user innovation, so even if Google buy FF they will not change a line in the code or the architecture.now who is the firt to like this post?!! what did Greader this week? who from Greader left the office to go to FF? too many question!! - abdellah
but let be clear, all the above are just speculation. - abdellah
Nope Abdellah. Cosmo have been mentionned numerous times in official docs and in the code of some apps. - Jérôme Flipo from iPhone
@Jerome havn't understand what do you mean by Cosmo - abdellah
I think it's called "hype." - Carlos Eberhardt
It has to be quantum computing. all computation done outside of time and space. - Walter Logeman
I'm thinking Google Chrome with Native Client for super fast rendering of web applications (including Wave). - George Moga
Introducing Google Goo: Making the web squishy, coming late 2009. - DGentry
Won't be hard to be cooler than Wave. Yes, I'm not a big Wave fan: way too noisy, messy, unusable... Maybe I'll change my mind in the future but for now, I still don't get what we'll do with this stuff and I don't buy the idea. - Pascal Thivent
Okay, here are my predictions. First, let me say that being cooler than Wave will be quite hard because that's pretty awesome (do you have sandbox access Pascal? Because I'm sure that will change your mind). (1) Google TV - Never mentioned anywhere officially and would definitely be cooler than most others, however VEVO is somewhat similar. (2) GDrive/Cosmo/whatever they call it - would... more... - Californian
Google World Domination? - Amit Morson
This churn in applications wears me out! Where do you get the energy? - ZuDfunck
The amount of web-based applications being delivered from Google is amazing. There is so much potential in Google voice apps, Google Wave, which will put their social apps on steroids and now an OS. If they can leverage their brand and fan base into these other verticals; they will be a force to reckoned with and a huge target for anti-trust regulators... - Mark Harai
Google Cloud. In your pocket, on your desk, embedded ---anywhere, anytime at anyprice. - Thom Kennon
Wow Thom - that actually does sound VERY cool... - Mark Harai
I'm interested too!! - Alex Hammer
Probably something to do with a more direct Windows competition. If you look at Google's recent products, many of them are meant to replace Microsoft products. - William Mougayar from iPhone
A multi-platform OS is the only thing in my mind that could top Wave. Can't wait to find out for sure though what this will be! - Garin Kilpatrick
I bet it's the Gdrive after I've just paid for an extra 10GB storage on Google. Would be cool to be able to access all my files from any google app, so I could add a picture from picassa webalbum or embed a video of mine/ favourited without having to go to the other site and copy a URL. This would set it up nicely for google OS - Steven Horner from iPhone
It's a kind of gyro balanced 2-wheel personal transportation device, IT will change everything. The way we live, the way cities are built. - Ray Cromwell
Crazy. I wonder if it will read my mind and stream content related to my thoughts in real-time. - Dane
What!? Cooler than Wave. I'll give my left nut to find out what & to be a tester. - Brian Felix from iPhone
Whatever it is, I'm sure IT WILL BE BIGGER THAN THE INTERNETS! - Andy Bakun
It is a Google-branded reality distortion field developed in collaboration with Apple. The reality distortion field prototype is so strong that Eric Schmidt was forced to resign from the Apple board of directors, lest his field encounter that of Steve Jobs reulting in mutual annihilation in a devastating burst of pure energy. - thegeniusfiles
That's a really interesting idea, Gabe. It seems to go a bit against the drive that Google Apps will reduce the need for IT departments though, so I doubt it. - Californian
Google will be hiring people to come to your house and physically direct your searches. - Chris Baskind
This photo search thing? - Michael Q Todd
Google has created an OFF button for the internet and will demonstrate their magic later this year. After that, Google will solidify the world under one government known as the Google Wave Party. More exciting than Wave. Has got to be Tsunami - Sidharth Dassani
