I meant it's awesome because the Finnish language is only distantly related to the other major European languages. (Exceptions being Hungarian and Estonian.) - j1m
well, last theory says Finno-Ugric tribes were roaming through what nowadays counts as territory of Russia, leaving their genetic & cultural trace here and there (even around people leaving around Moscow), and then they reached Baltic Sea... then, as classical joke says the hot ones turned to South, the laziest went straight and craziest went North - here you have "map" of Hungary, Estonia and Finland ;) Also there were Lapps living in what nowadays had been Finland, but this is not-so-popular topic in .fi - silpol
