I hate Captchas, always will no matter what the argument is. They discriminate against the visually impaired...and they suck ass for those with perfect vision as well, like this one does, and this is far from the worst example I've seen lately.

the way captchas work is that one is a real word that pretty easy to read and the other one is a word that the OCR couldn't capture. so when you get the easy one right it automatically says you got the tougher one right and then compares that word to other people to render that word when translating books
- Tyler Gillies
did you stop and think that maybe the world isn't failing and its just you? :)
- Tyler Gillies
Tyler, no. WTF is that word. Competi, eompeti.. Seriously though, a couple of years back I use to correspond with the American Blind Association, they HATE captchas, and I've never once implemented one because of that.
- Duncan Riley
maybe its "competition". captchas are generated when the OCR fails (ironically enough) to process the word
- Tyler Gillies
The funny thing is that the guy who designed this included a tiny button so we can hear the 2 words. Maybe someone visually impaired is lucky enough to click on this small small button...
- Fernando
i _do_ admit the line through the word is a bit excessive
- Tyler Gillies
this is a reCaptcha so it's all gravy. It's doing my nut what the word is, compett? Did you get it right with competi?
- Toby Graham
Just hit the refresh and get a new image ;)
- TDavid
xdrive.com, I can never get pass their captcha. Is it bcos I am not based in US ?
- Diana Valerini
I think the last word is 'competi-'.. note the trailing '-'.. yeah I hate captchas too, as they always fail when my bandwidth is near to zero. About visually impaired, web browsers have to better integrate with desktop UI's accessibility preferences, so the voice captcha is used by default.

http://www.joedawsons.com/feeds... I have a lot of images of my family adventures which get uploaded so I wouldn't subscribe if you don't want that fed into GReader!
- Joe Dawson
This is my going to bed mark so I know where to start adding feeds in the morning. keep em coming, and anyone reading this, feel free to add as many people as you like

a cool feature would be the ability to search through only the things I "liked" versus by service or person. I need to check to see if that exists...
- Micah Baldwin
@Micah click on the "Me" tab and then click on the "Like" link on the right side
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
I have more comments than likes. I tend to engage when I like. A comment/like ratio would be interesting.
- AJ Kohn
I only have 1618. And you thought I was a power user here. :-)
- Louis Gray
I try not to like the same story or thought twice, but rather comment. I'm at 1018

Magic lies are much better than the traditional ones ;)
- Dave Kinsella
oh yes, traditional lies usually involve me trying to get away with something that i did that i knew was wrong when i did it, but result in me getting hurt anyway. magic lies are just like that with the exception of the pixies and fairies i get to blame it all on.
- Nathan Eckenrode
Robert, you might've liked 3000+ stories, but can see only 300! :P (FriendFeed, PLEASE, I beg you to fix this "Bug")
- Yuvi
Heh, I'm not far behind. 2933 Likes over here. :D
- Voyagerfan5761
Anyone can hit a like button... Without even reading what something is about. Just liking, to me, adds little value. If you're not commenting (scoble does), you're not being part of the community. This isn't digg or reddit... Your 'stats' mean nothing here. Being a 'power user' isn't liking everything on the page...
- Vince DeGeorge
I was on Facebook right now, and I saw something pretty cool. Then I started looking for the Like Button. Silly me...
- Baard @ Pixum
Anybody in the world can make one. I don't consider myself elite or a company, and I made three! Also, check out the one from the WSJ: http://onespot.wsj.com/
- Louis Gray
looks very cool (and clearly it knows a good blog when it sees one :) - I can think of a million uses for this, but I guess it's geared towards the enterprise market and a for-pay product. There doesn't seem to be a way for mere mortals to sign up beyond requesting a demo.
- Frederic
Frederic, you're right. At this time, it's not open. I had thought it would be by launch, and that was my oversight. They should do this if they want significant adoption.
- Louis Gray
It's currently designed for larger companies, but we're hard at work on a small publisher version of the product which we'll announce in the near future. For updates, visit http://seeitwork.onespot.com/ and sign up for our newsletter - we want to get it to everyone as soon as we can.

Whenever we’re asked “when is Firefox going to be released” we endeavor to answer to the best of our abilities, but the truth of the matter is that we’ll only ever ship “when it’s ready”. We have a lot of indicators that help us understand when the product is ready for release: feedback from our pre-release milestones, excitement in the community and the press, availability of compatible Add-Ons, and a large active beta community helping us ensure that the release is compatible with all the various sites on the Internet. After more than 34 months of active development, and with the contributions of thousands, we’re proud to announce that we’re ready. It is our expectation to ship Firefox 3 this upcoming Tuesday, June 17th. Put on your party hats and get ready to download Firefox 3 — the best web browser, period.

@My Blog Posts: The *last* thing you should ever do is comment on spam as it keeps bumping it up for others.
- Tony Ruscoe
no, i'm thinking about something more: if i flag a post (or a comment) as spam it would disappear (hide)for me. with 3 or more flag as spam the post should hide for everyone (as in youtube comments). if a user spams a lot, it should be banned. please add this option before it's too late!!! if i do like you say i onli promote the post to the top of the page!

i'm excited to see what they roll out for gmail. there has to be a time they take it out of beta though right? i mean 10 million users and still in beta, really?
- Morgan
well i know what the friendfeed is gonna look like tonight
- Anthony
snake? really? ok, yes, I will try it :)
- Tim Hoeck
They have way more than 10 million users Morgan.
- Paul Buchheit
Ooh, this is cool. Google really knows how to cater to their power users.
- Eric Florenzano
I think this is huge - not just for users, but I think it'll really inspire Googlers to do a ton of really great stuff. And thus innovation is born!
- felix
A bit underwhelming at launch but I could see a lot of potential in this.
- Benjamin Golub
from fftogo
looks like the 10 million figure was from Techcrunch....."There are currently about 10 million active Gmail users."
- Adam Kazwell
still don't see it on my main account, but all lesser accounts now have it
- MG Siegler
I see it but I'm still wonder what all the "excitment" is all about
- Steven Hodson
looks like they're still rolling it out - doesn't show in any of my accounts yet. The official GMail blog has the announcement up now, though: http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008...
- Frederic
Steve Hodson - the excitement I find in this is Google moving the evolving edge of the engineers' 20% time out to the market while the paint is still wet - to more directly involve the participation of the user-base as to the evolution of the product. It is a more direct-democracy, a more intimate relationship with the evolution of the software.. a decentralization and greater inclusion for the decision making process.
- sedgewick
@sedgwick .. wow does that ever sound like marketing speak .. well if that is the case I sure hope they are using their 20% time to come up with something a little more eviolutionary that random signatures. That one must have left the engineer with at least 9% left of his/her 20%.
- Steven Hodson
Steven - really? marketing speak? ...perhaps I should apply for a job. ;p
- sedgewick
but if you don't like the 'signature' schtick.. perhaps, others wont, it wont gain traction, and wont evolve, fall to the way-side.. better they get feedback regarding it's stupidity now then after they've invested more time and resources to it. the free-market strikes again..
- sedgewick
wish the labs functionality was available in google apps for domains though
