Inner-spring mattress technology is 75 years old. If I said I was going out to buy a vacuum-tube computer, I would get laughed down in a hurry. The core technology in inner-spring mattresses is older than vacuum-tube computing. #justsaying
So what would you recommend? Been wanting to ask you that for a while. - Alex Scoble
Don't let me buy a chair, then. That's gotta be 3,000 year old technology at least. - Stephen Mack from iPhone
Stephen: there's not much one can do to improve upon chair technology, other than to make chairs more comfortable, which doesn't require changing the core tech behind a chair. Alex: Of course I am partial, but there are a few facts to consider: 1) 9/10 couples don't agree on how firm they want their mattress. 2) Spring mattresses are designed to last between 5 and 10 years. Tempurpedic and Sleep Number beds are both designed to last 20+ years. - Bren -- feeling merry
Whether it's 5 or 25 years, there is a chance that your needs will change over time - spring mattresses and foam mattresses are both designed to remain essentially the same (barring wear and tear), whereas Sleep Number beds can change to meet changing needs. Of course, no bed is perfect for everyone, but buying a bed without trying a Sleep Number bed is ignoring a piece of equipment that significantly improves upon existing tech. - Bren -- feeling merry
And you sell Sleep Number beds? - Alex Scoble
I do, which is why I said I was partial from the beginning. :) - Bren -- feeling merry
Just making sure. :) I definitely want to try one out whenever we get around to replacing our current bed. - Alex Scoble
I should also say, though, that I sleep on a Sleep Number bed, and truly believe in them. So much so that I sold one to my mom and another to my aunt, and a third to a friend's parents. I would not have done so if I didn't think they really were superior, as I have to talk to those people on a regular basis :) - Bren -- feeling merry
Do you give friendfeeder discounts? :) - Alex Scoble
I wish I had more control of the pricing. When you are looking, let me know and I will make sure you get the best deal available ;) - Bren -- feeling merry
