Interesting Thread re: setting up Amazon Associates when you're too young for taxes. - http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com/forums...
I didn't need to enter in any tax info... maybe I was just lucky :) - diddledumsticks
i didnt either... :S hasnt asked me for anything like that, ive been using amazon associates for a while now aswel - adam jeremiah from twhirl
Have either of you tried to cash out? Cause I think if you do it'll ask for it. Or if you make over 500/year then it will. - Chad
no, i havent, the reason i started the 30DC was because i wasnt making a lot from it. Any way to get around it if it asks for it? - adam jeremiah from twhirl
U can get amazon gift certs and then it won't ask. But if it sends you a check you have to put it in for tax reasons. If your making a ton you might ask your parents to get an EIN number from the IRS. This is free and is tied to an SSN. So if the EIN got leaked you won't be at risk. (Check out what clickbank suggests) - Chad
what about bank transfers? - adam jeremiah from twhirl
That one I don't know, but I'd assume any cash movement they need a number since they have to report it to the IRS. - Chad
oh right ok, well i dont really want vouchers... but if its the best way to get around it then ill go for them and maybe sell them on... or use them i dont know yet - adam jeremiah from twhirl
If you're overseas I believe you don't need any tax info. I hope somehow I can get around Amazon rules! - diddledumsticks
overseas meaning in the UK? - adam jeremiah from twhirl
If you are a US citizen and have to pay US taxes you MUST give them an SSN or EIN. That way no one gets arrested :) . If you reside in a different country then I have no idea. - Chad
overseas meaning overseas :) - diddledumsticks
Instead of setting Nathan up with his own account, I'm just having him use my account with his own tracking code so I can tell what is his. I give him anything he earns. I didn't try to sign him up for his own account because it was easier to just use mine. It was already set up. All we had to do was build his links. - Sherri S Joubert
Depending on age of the child, watch out for increased tax rate of the "kiddie tax". Teens fall into a certain higher tax bracket for their earnings over some amount, I'm sorry this is so vague, but the tax bracket was put in place to keep parents and grandparents from sheltering wealth by using the UGMA and UTMA. The amount of money is pretty high compared to working and earning money, but if your child happens onto one of those high-paying niches, be prepared to file tax returns for them. - Sherri S Joubert
